If you have issues with slow or rude service, speak up! I hate it when people gripe about something, but then don't say anything to resolve the issue. Restaurants and cafes need to hear feedback, and a review site is one place you can let your violent and passionate hate flow. However, another route you can take is to let your server or waitstaff know! They're in the service industry and should be catering to please you. Passive-aggressive behavior only comes back to haunt and not help you, dear diner. That said, cafe workers should realize that there's a certain expectation of niceties when working in the SERVICE and HOSPITALITY industry. A smile goes a long way, and sometimes, an apology with an "I'll get right on it" will work wonders. I like this place because it's no-nonsense. It's run almost similar to a fast-food establishment, but with a lot better food. Their vegetarian burger is the best in Wellington. Hands down. They've got tasty curly fries, too. I'm a devoted carnivore, but I end up ordering the veggie burger every single time because I know it'll be delicious. They should definitely think about entering it into the Burger Wellington competition. Evenings are much more delightful without the lunch time crowd rushing to get their meals in under an hour.

There are many sushi places in Welly but this is in a class of its own because the quality is just so much better and the food that much fresher. Saying that, the vege selection's rather limited - but what they do offer's so good that I'll forgive them. Bring on the sushi!

Our waitress (we found out she's German) literally wrote what was available from the menu on our table, in full detail, from heart. We were impressed. The inside is super warm and inviting. It's the perfect spot for a date. There's a chalkboard menu that changes often (hence why there is no printed menu) that's broken into starters, primi (pasta), secondi (meats), sides and desserts. - Antipastino ($17.00 NZD) - this was our favourite dish of our meal. Olives, figs, two types of meat (salami and pancetta) and three cheeses (asiago, brie and another). All three cheeses were fantastic and had great texture. Same for the meats; satisfying bite and aged in flavour. - Spaghetti aglio et olio ($12.00 NZD) - one of their lunch specials (oil and garlic for the non-Italian speakers). Quite good. Don't think the pasta was homemade (their main entrees pastas are freshly made) but it was still good. - Roast chicken with potatoes ($15.00 NZD) - the other lunch special and sadly, when things started going downhill. Potatoes were over salted; same with the chicken but it was also dry. - Lamb rump with carrot and onions ($25.00 NZD) - the lamp rump was tender enough to pull off with a fork but it lacked flavour. The carrots and onions were sooooo buttery but not in a good way. Again, major balancing issues with the seasoning. We were hoping for CCO to be good but it didn't quite live up to the hype. It's what I'm guessing Italians would eat if they went out. Pace yourself, get an entree, and finish off with a desert. Can't go wrong with the house wine, either. We'll definitely come back. They were very child friendly and the food did not take too long to come out.

We checked all of them out and decided on München: Food Hall & Bier Haus. It's right next door to the TSB Bank Arena (Macklemore was playing that night). We dropped in on a Saturday evening (around 6:45pm). The place was pretty lively and the bar was busy all night long. The dinner menu is split into entrees, würst/sausages, specialties, schnitzel, salads, mains and burgers. The drink menu is quite large and there's also snacks, bites and sharing platter options. There's a happy hour on weekdays (5:00pm to 6:00pm). They also have specials from Wednesday ($0.10 wings) to Thursday ($20.00 NZD bier & burger). - Hofbräu, Hefe weizen ($10.00 NZD 400mL) - easy light drinking. You can't come to a German bier haus without getting a beer. - Schweinshaxe ($39.00 NZD) - pork knuckle, homemade knödel dumpling, sauerkraut, potato salad and bier jus. This plate was absolutely massive. Super easy to share. The pork knuckle was tender, moist and full of flavour. The skin had a nice chewy crackle to it. Everything else was delicious including the side of mustard sauce. - Bratwürst ($25.00 NZD) - served with kartoffelpüree, sauerkraut, haus gravy, pickled vege and Bavarian mustard. The two smoked pork sausages were excellent and well seasoned. We asked for this dish to be dairy free; they sadly removed the mashed potatoes from our dish but didn't replace it with anything else. - Debreziner ($25.00 NZD) - beef & pork sausages with rustic spice. Think there was about 6 smaller sausages. We tried one and it was tasty. - Rinder schnitzel ($25.00 NZD) - crumbed tender rump steak & haus gravy. Our other friend's dish. The schnitzel looked good from my end. Haven't had German food in ages and München impressed. A little pricier (to be expected as it's along the wharf) but good food and drinks.
