Capital Taxi is a decent Taxi service. Nothing really changes from one company to the next but there's nothing to complain about with this one. They get you from point A to point B without causing you any trouble. They do seem to arrive faster than some other ones though but I don't take a cab very often so I am not exactly a good judge of the timing. If you are in a hurry give them a try and see if I was right. read more

I have no idea why this cab company has decent reviews, because they are absolutely ridiculous. Unfortunately for me, my work gives us Capital cab vouchers! I tried to use one today and it was a complete gong show! I feel completely disrespected. I missed the call for the cab by 1 second, and immediately called back saying that yes I was still expecting my cab. The dispatcher told me that it was my fault for missing the call and that the cab was 10 minutes away but he had cancelled it. He said that they only do the one call and that's it. I said ok can you please send another cab, and he actually YELLED at me. He was completely abusive on the phone saying that it was an inconvenience to send another cab and that he didn't have time for people like me who "don't know how to answer a phone". I was so upset, but still asked him to send another cab. He agreed and said he would send one. An hour went by and no cab showed up. So we called again and a different person answered the phone. We asked her where our cab was and she said that we were on the list, but no one had sent a cab! Are you serious? We asked her if she could send a cab and she said "Maybe". No yes, no No, just maybe. Like she could possibly send us a cab if she felt like doing so... I have no idea what is wrong with these people! Finally we called Co-op taxi and had a cab at our house within 10 minutes. Twice in the last three months I have called for a taxi to take me to the airport and had a Capital Taxi arrive. Both times, I missed the flight due to flat tires. The first time I was stuck on the side of the freeway for 45 minutes in the snow. The cab driver did not have the sense to pull the car completely off the road. Since I am a Transportation Engineer, I tried to explain the danger, to him, me, and the general public, of having the car sitting in the travel lane of a freeway. After being ignored I told him that if he didn't remove the car from the roadway I would call the police. He finally moved it over. The second time I noticed the flat tire before I even opened the door of the cab. After calling another company to send out a cab, I called Capital to complain that their lack of maintenance was costing me hundreds of dollars and that their level of service was unacceptable. The dispatch said I was accusing them of doing this on purpose and I explained what I was accusing them of was not maintaining their vehicles. Frustrated and late I hung up on them. They had the nerve to use caller ID to call me back to try to get the last word in. I will not get in another Capital Taxi. read more

The sheer stupidity of this company is incredible. Terrible service, and rude and incompetent dispatch. Most of the drivers don't seem to know the city very well, and they rely on you for exact directions. This is extremely inconvenient when you are new to the city like I am. I have used their service more than a handful of times, and they struggle to find my building every time (I live in a large building downtown, with one entrance). They will sometimes park two blocks away and honk their horn and expect you to come running down the street instead of pulling up to your front door or anywhere near it. Half the time, I'm not even sure if the cab that is honking is actually looking for me. I've never experienced such terrible service from a taxi company. Capital Taxi, we're breaking up. Capital Taxi was formed by a group of taxi drivers who wanted to break away from one of the major taxi lines and have their own company. It mostly serves the downtown core. One of the unique aspects of Capital is that usually when the taxi arrives you get a call to let you know it is there. Some of the cabs have on-board computers that help direct the drivers. The cars tend to be clean, arrive quickly, and the drivers are friendly. They take cash and credit cards. Rates are the same amongst all cab companies in Edmonton, so it's basically a matter of which one is the most convenient to get. read more

Capital Taxi is a good taxi service. I don't really know if I would consider them above the rest - to me, a taxi is a taxi. These guys show up pretty quickly once you call and the drivers are friendly. I really like that the drivers call you when they arrive, a courtesy that some other companies don't give you. I really like that about Capital. I've never been in a dirty car or felt awkward or unsafe in a Capital taxi. We actually used Capital when we need to call a cab for someone at the lounge I worked at. We never had any problems with them and I think they are a great company. They are a really company so I will definitely continue to support them. read more

Apparently I can't give a "no stars" rating.. Very disappointed. Called at 10:45pm on a Wednesday. Was told 5-20 mins. Called them back after 40 mins waiting and was told there was no record of my call and would be another 40 min wait... This resulted in me missing the bus I didn't want to wait an hour for in the first place and having to wait another hour for the next bus, then spend an hour on busses/waiting outdoors. Or walk 3 hours home. Started using these guys recently because of shorter wait times. I will be going back to Yellow because they actually show up, or at the very least call back if they can't make it in a timely manner. Also, Capital does not have an email contact option on their website. Not really in the mood to call in to complain at midnight and be put on hold every 30seconds while they take another call. Nothing wrong with Capital Taxi...just another taxi service in Edmonton. The taxi drivers call when they arrive at your place, something you might think is standard with all taxi services, but you would be surprised at how many taxis don't do this. All my encounters with Capital have been good. Sometimes I get lucky and get the taxi driver who lives a few houses down from me, so he shows up to my place really quick. read more

While at home working on my pond. I watched and heard an argument between a capital taxi driver in unit #706 and his passengers. Not my business, therefore basically ignored the situation. That was until the driver approached me, as I continued to work on my pond, trying to get me to empathize with him on people treat taxi driver's. He had walked up to my property and stood at my front fence on the grass not the sidewalk. I told the driver that it was not my business. That it has nothing to do with me. This obviously pissed him off as he proceeded into racial comments towards caucasian males. Since my preteen child was also in the yard, I found his behavior to be very inappropriate. The driver stood at my fence and had the audacity to shake his finger at me while making his racial comments. I asked him for his cab number so I could file a complaint. He told me it was on the side of his van. I stood up from kneeling at my pond and the driver quickly walked to his van and got into the drivers door. I walked out of my yard and towards the van. He drove away as I reached the boulevard, but I was able to clearly see cab number 706. As I walked back towards my gate, I searched for capital taxi and called the number to lodge a complaint. When the dispatcher finally answered the phone, he informed me that the driver told the dispatcher that I came after him and that he felt threatened by me. I told the dispatcher that the driver is lying and the video cameras that I have recorded the entire event. I provided my name and cell number to the dispatcher and also advised them that they could view the video any time to show everyone's actions. If a taxi driver has an issue with his passengers that situation is between the taxi driver and those passengers. Why involve a neighbor; when it has nothing to do with the neighbor in the first place. Then when told that it is has nothing to do with me, why make comments about race and gender type? Why make up lies about feeling threatened and about being chased. Start video taping the conduct of your taxi drivers folks. I am so glad that I had these cameras recording at my home to show the conduct of this capital taxi driver. read more

Capital taxi is pretty good. I was impressed by how fast they got to my house and the fact that they called when they got there. The only thing I would say was one of the drivers I had was very grouchy. I just don't understand why they would be! They should know they are providing a service and if they want a tip- be nice. read more

Got a very rude dispatcher. I was trying to call for an employee who needed a ride home from work. She is an older Woman, who speaks with a bit of an accent, but is in no way hard to understand, but whenever I put her on the phone to speak to the dispatcher, he just kept on hanging up on her. I then called him back after the third time he did this, and asked him myself why he kept on hanging up on the woman (???), and he then said to me "I don't understand her, so she is just wasting my time, so I hung up on her!" When I asked him if he was sending a Cab for her he simply stated "No, I am not sending a Cab, people like her piss me off!" I then wondered what he meant "People like her" Older Women? People with accents? What did he mean by that? I then tried to ask him, along with his name? But his response was "I don't have to give you any information!" And then he hung up on me too! This taxi service was good but the customer service from the boy with the number 441 was ignorant. My sister left her wallet in the vehicle so immediately within 5 mins or less we called the taxi and told them what happened. I never gave my phone number but the boy took what info I did give him. When I realized I never gave my number I called back to give my number. The I was then transferred to this boy again and he told me it was my sisters fault she left her wallet in the car and it was lost not stolen. What I then said is well if it's not in the cab it fell out of cab and is not in driveway which means it's stolen. He proceeded to tell me it was not stolen it was lost and to deal with it. I told him we will then have to call police and file stole purse he said don't be stupid it's not stolen it's lost and got angry and then hung up. We have called police and this will be felt with. Thank you to the drivers who get us there but this boy who is a phone agent next time you should be kind to people and never hang up on someone who has huge influence in Edmonton. read more

Worst ever. I called them and booked a cab and no one showed up. 15 minutes later I called again and they said that they can't do anything about it and hung up. Basically they were no help at all and were rude. The girl I talked to hung up on me. She ended our conversation by telling me to figure out what company I had called originally. These guys used to be great my friend and aunt and myself use these guys almost everyday and a few times a day at that until my friend who called them tonight tried to tell her she CAN'T USE DEBIT and forced her out of the cab then told the supervisor she had no money when she makes $700 a week and doesn't touch her money when also I've had several of the drivers say they don't like people to use debit because capital does not pay them!! They are a scam!! Don't use them unless your ready and willing to be belittled and scammed!! If I could give this company a negative rating I would. My daughter called at 11:00 pm to request a cab for the end of her shift at a local liquor store at midnight. The dispatcher refused to send a cab because "Capital Taxi does NOT send cabs to businesses. They only send cabs to residents". These were the dispatchers exact words. I used too use capital all the time but after today i don't know what too say. They used too be quick and always my top pick. Today though.... i called the cab and since my number was in their data base they had my address saved too, when i called they even confired the address, but when they called to say they arrived i couldnt find them because the sent the cabbie too the wrong address, even after they confirmed it.The guy than calls and cant find me cuz well obviosly he's not in the right place gets all mad at me and than his english was awful, he said he would call them but thats all i understood so i waited a bit thinking maybe he will come ( i told him they got it wrong and the right address) but he didnt and i had too call a new cab, they said oh we sent it too the wrong place ( he obviosly didnt call) and i had to wait even longer i was an hour late for work and i called for the cab about 45 min before my shift started. Than i called them again for a ride home ( on sunday buses dont run very good) and they told me ten to twenty minutes i wait for.....an hour. I called too see what was up and they said oh we dont have anycabs on the west end right now, you could if said that before, and i could of called another cab.... but anyways the guy says i will tru too get a cab too you as soon as i can, so i wait for another half hour, and than say fuck it call them and cancel than called yellow cab and they were there in ten minutes. I wish I could rate Capital Taxi 0 stars. I took a cab with Capital Taxi on Saturday October 3rd with cab driver 125. When we got to my house and I tried to pay him my $27 fare he was telling me my card was not going through. I then tried to give him a credit card, he told me that wasn't working either. He got upset with me and was VERY VERY rude. He said I was wasting his time. He was raising his voice. He was blaming me. He then decided he was going to force me to go to Pizza 73 in the middle of the night and try my debit card there. I had no choice, he angrily dragged me in there.. and boom what do you know... I did have money, my card did work. He charged $27 on my debit card in the pizza place and he took the cash, put it in his pocket and took me home. I then checked my bank statement the next day and to my surprise... my debit card had been working the whole time. He charged me twice. I reached out to customer service and left a message in attempts to get my $27 back.. the customer service manager John Hollas returned my call once and said he was going to look into the matter. He did not look into the matter. He has not called me back. I have phoned back multiple times and I have not received a response. I have bank statements to prove my point. On New Year's Eve, a cab driver from this company was 30 minutes late to pick us up, claiming everytime we called him that he would be there in "2 minutes" or "5 minutes". He told us that he hit every light coming from downtown at 4:00 in the morning, hence why it took him over 45 minutes to get to near West Edmonton Mall (right...). We still had to pay for this cab ride, which caused us to miss our flight (we then had to pay $300 to get on the next flight). We have now been dealing with the "manager", John Hollis, for nearly 3 months now, who NOT ONLY does not return our calls, but "guarantees" that we will deal with someone from higher up in order to be compensated. It's been almost three months! He has blatantly ignored our calls when he sees our called ID, because we have called from different numbers that are answered right away. I am JUST NOW taking to the Internet to review them, because this company and their extreme level of unprofessionalism needs to be addressed, and other people should be aware.
