I am a loyal Coop Taxi customer. I don't take taxis very often, maybe once or twice a month, but I am pleased with their drivers. They have been consistently pleasant and laid back. It is rare that I have to wait longer than 5-10 minutes for a ride. All of the drivers have been safe and get me from place to place in one piece. If there are any areas for improvement, I would say it is with the app: It could be simpler and more user friendly. For example, when using the app you have to manually select a pickup location. When choosing the pickup location the interface is very sensitive and is frustrating to use at times. I would suggest having your pickup location selected automatically using your GPS signal. This would be very helpful. Otherwise I think the app is useful. Thanks, and keep up the good work, guys! read more

I had to go pick up a rental car at 5:00 p.m. for a trip, so I booked a ride in advance (did this in the morning) for 4:40 p.m. because it was a Friday, and I knew it would be busy. This was more than sufficient time to get me there on time, and I got a confirmation with a flat rate of just over $14.00. I waited for about 5 minutes after they were supposed to arrive, and got a text saying that the cars had been switched from one to another, but that it was on its way. I thought this was strange, but I waited. At one point, when the cab was about 15 minutes late, I called. I was told they were on their way. And every time I called the number I was told it was 1 minute away. My partner finally called the driver, who said he was on his way. We didn't get in the cab and on the road until 5:05, so I had to call the rental company and make sure they knew I was going to be late so I didn't lose my reservation. The driver was just a barrel of excuses that it was busy, but that's why I booked ahead, to avoid the Friday afternoon rush hour wait. My partner had to tell him the address three times for him to get the address right - an address that I had already input with the prebooking program. Then, while driving, he waited unnecessarily at a red light in the wrong lane and bumped my fare up even more. The flat rate (supposed perk of booking in advance) seemed to disappear, and my fare of just over $14.00 turned to almost $20.00. My partner has tried to call Co-op, but their answering machines are full and no one will seem to pick up the phone for a customer service complaint. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I've never been so angry with a service before, don't usually complain, never post reviews, and I hate getting that angry. I've seen so many other reviews like this one, and I would just tell anyone who asks to avoid Co-op at all costs. You will be kept waiting, bumped up in price by seemingly incompetent drivers and/or inconvenienced to the point of rage. Use Uber or another service. read more

on april 29 2026 i took a coop cab for the last time. the stupid no nothing driver didn't take the henday to st albert from ne edmonton (170 ave & 66 st). when i asked him why he said itas 3 km longer! i doubt that and even if it was it would have been 3 times faster. after going back to my place for the cake he took the henday but instead of heading south on 156 st. to 96 ave & 149 st he went west outside the city boundary. he is either stupid or greedy or maybe both. the $19.10 i added to the bill was absolutely not for good service, but for his time in walmart, which he said he did not charge me. read more

They never showed up for my pre scheduled ride and I almost missed my flight away. I was so upset. The phone kept saying my cab was one minute away but I waited for 30 minutes before calling another company and that took another 15 minutes at which time the co-op cab had still not shown up. After I left I got a call from co-op asking why I wasn't there waiting for my cab, I was even more upset then and blocked them. read more

They are supposed to have flat rate to airport which is bs as this can driver charged me over $120 for a cab from Kensington to airport, When you hire them they always want to go in yellow head despite traffic. I was following coop taxi car 464 on my way home the other day. First of all speeding through a school zone is not cool, he did. He also missed 2 stop signs. That's a bit too much for one driver in about 5 minutes. I would consider it dangerous driving, I hope this review gets to him. read more

We sat on the sidewalk for 40 minutes waiting - even though I had a reservation - before I finally cancelled. And I also had to cancelled the special restaurant dinner reservation to celebrate our wedding!!! We were so furious! And every time I called, the automated machine said it was less than a minute before they would arrive. When calling in from another phone the man hung up on us. NEVER EVER AGAIN! So very disrespectful of the disabled to ignore a reservation. read more

If I could give this less than 1 star I would. I called a taxi for my mom and the driver said it was 15$ for a 10 min drive(around 4.3km). And then refused to drop her off at the right destination by giving sloppy excuses. Called customer service to make a report and they said they'd transfer me to the driver's supervisor but they directed me to the voicemail. Every single time. Bunch of thieves and liars. Absolutely terrible service. I caught a taxi with my seven year old son. I will never use Co-op again! When the driver arrived he was in a heated conversation. I could hear that he was upset. I would not get in the taxi until he hung up with whoever he was talking to. Little did I know he only turned off the speaker phone. My son and I immediately put on our seatbelts. Then the safety belt beeping began as our driver did not put his seatbelt on. He said it was too hot to wear a seatbelt. He proceeded to drive with that godawful beeping noise while talking on the phone. I asked him to drop me off at the closest location. I got out and refused to pay. When I called to share my concerns regarding the way the driver was behaving I was told by a SUPERVISOR at Co-op that their drivers are not required by law to wear seatbelts. Completely unacceptable. Reserved taxi to airport last night, they were late picking us up, we called at 2 when they were supposed to pick us up, they said "2 minutes" and then showed up 14 minutes later. Out of all the Taxi companies in Edmonton (uber, yellow, co-op), I like Co-op the best, by far. Why should you choose Co-op over Uber? I feel the safest riding in Co-op taxis. The driver's are responsible to someone and are held responsible for their actions. A lot of the cabs (if not all) have backwards facing cameras inside the vehicle, which are reviewed if there is a problem inside of the cab. And the best reason of all? Co-op is locally owned. The driver receives your full cab fare, and not just a delivery fee or percentage. Support local and our local economy! Great job Co-op! Keep it up. read more

Charged 12.30 to return my phone that I lost in his cab, just 3 minutes before I noticed it was missing and had to change seats with my small granddaughter because there was no seat belt in the middle of the seat for her. Sadly, I write this to warn others about a dishonest driver at Co-op Taxi. Having had wine with dinner, we decided to call a taxi to take our visiting colleague back to her hotel. As we went through the extended process of getting someone to answer and then being transferred to a separate line in order to provide our credit card information, our colleague asked why we didn't just use Uber. We don't like to do that, we explained, because we have dealt with this cab company for over thirteen years and we trust them. Also, we do not mind paying the drivers a bit more rather than exploit the freelancers driving for Lyft or Uber. Although I trusted Co-op, I did go downstairs with our colleague, to make sure that the driver knew that this ride had been prepaid. At first, he told us that he knew nothing about this, but then, after we pointed out the prepayment notice on his dashboard screen, he acknowledged it and told us not to worry, everything would be OK. Once he got to the destination, however, he demanded a fare from our colleague, who, not knowing what to do, paid it. The next morning, our colleague told us about this experience. I called Co-op and was shunted off to the voicemail of the "drivers' supervisor." After leaving a message there (so far unanswered), I called back and asked to speak with a manager. The manager looked up the ride and admitted that our credit card had been charged and so had the credit card of the passenger. He really had no choice, as we did have a clear paper trail. The manager told me that he would refund one of the charges, so I asked him to reverse the charge on our colleague's card, which he said would happen in four or five days. He then told me that the driver would be suspended and then sent back for further training. I asked what training would this involve, how not to be a thief? If it had been a mistake, I would have understood, but this driver knew that the ride had been paid and still extracted an extra fare. I have made complaint with the city, using the 311 municipal number. I'll be interested to see what, if anything, the City of Edmonton does about this matter. And with great sadness, I have put the Uber app on my device for potential use in Edmonton. read more

Got a taxi a few days ago and asked them to take me the shortest route because I was late for work. They went the longest possible way, assume I don't know where I'm going. At 1/3 of a way there it was $12.20 when it is normally a pretty short ride. I want my money back and I'll be calling in and complaining. read more

I ordered a cab online to schedule a pickup for my sister the next morning to go to the airport. I was quoted $55.00 on the "get a quote" that they have been advertising on all sites, phone messages and etc., yet my sister was charged $75.00 I have called 4 times now and each time I have called everyone answering admits that the driver was in the wrong and I get the good old "...let me look into this and I'll call you back..." and have not heard back yet. I gave up on the cab companies because of the high rates, the "no care" attitude and the poorly maintained vehicles that they were running and went to Uber, but this time, I figured I'd give them a try again, now that they had this "quote" thing in place. Feeling that then, they couldn't over charge. I guess I was wrong. I will not let this go, as it is now the principle of the thing and I feel that my sister is owed the $20.00. read more

I tried calling back to see what happened and was just hung up on. 0/5 would be more fitting as I didnt even get to access their service, but 1/5 will have to suffice. I am a LONG time user of Coop Taxi. I was pretty adamant about NOT using Uber. Big mistake on my part. I take cabs regularly after work as there are no buses that go directly to my building. It just saves me time. I don't know how many times after work I waited from 20 minutes to an hour - only to have a cab never show. Or to have to walk in -20 weather to flag down a cab. I would get a message saying the cab showed. But then I'd have to call in three or four times to the call centre to say, "Where the hell is my cab?" Either the driver just couldn't find the building or they just didn't care to stop. Calling into the centre is useless. The website almost never works. The cab fare is ridiculous. Waiting in traffic like for a train is expensive. Cabs are often old, dirty - reeking of smoke which I'm allergic too. You're lucky if the driver speaks English. Ripped off way too many times and argued way too many times with drivers who wanted to take the long way around. Solution?! Switch to Uber! I'm now an avid fan and Coop taxi just lost $200 weekly from me. By switching to Uber, I am saving $200 MONTHLY. You read that right. I have not waited longer than 5 minutes for an Uber driver. The app tells me where the driver is at all times and how far away they are. It also tells me who is driving and I have a clear picture of the driver and what car to expect. I can see ahead of time how much the ride is going to cost me and what route they will be taking so there are no surprises. They are also willing to go a different route if asked. Every driver has been happy, pleasant and loves their job compared to Coop, who gouges their drivers $2000 per month just to drive their own cars. While I was hesitant to use my credit card, I have to say it's much easier than running to bank machines and paying bank fees - I'm saving more money there too. There's also no obligation to tip but I do at least $1 or $2. Sorry but it adds up daily to tip more. So in short, switch to Uber. Save yourself the grief of no show cabs. Also Coop drivers for the most part almost never follow the rules of the road! One got a ticket with me in the car! read more

I don't often have to take a cab but today I did. I thought of Uber and went on line to read about it. I decided against Uber after reading that Uber assures customers they have handled criminals surreptitiously making inroads through their service and not to worry. Well. I worry. I had a busy day ahead and did not want to be shot at or knifed. Hmm. Possibly the ride with Co-op Cabs may have been worse. The cab was prompt. The driver parked in the middle of the road I front of our house and I hurried out. A cool air conditioned balm bathed my entire being as I slipped in to the cab and buckled up. Plexiglass divided the front from the back. Fine. What wasn't fine was that the cool air was immediately turned off. Before we hit the main road I was bathed in sweat. I tried to get the driver's attention but he was engaged in a quietly ferocious conversation with someone and did not notice me. 18 minutes later with sweat rolling down my cheeks, my neck, from every follicle of hair, and the back of my knees sliding dangerously on the vinyl seat we arrived at my destination. I HAD opened the window to get some kind of breeze going but it resulted in my hairdo being turned in to an upsweep but only on the right side. The driver stuck his hand through a small gauze covered hole for payment. I tried to tell him the backseat was like an oven, that it was very uncomfortable and I was drenched in sweat. He didn't really seem to care and went back to his conversation. SO. If you call Co-op for a cab during an heat wave ASK if they have air conditioning..OR.....call someone else. read more

THE WORST. Here's a tip Co-op Taxi: have your drivers actually know the rules of the road before you give them permission to earn a living driving on our city streets. Driver in unit #681 decided he was too far into an intersection and started reversing, backing straight into my vehicle, even though my horn was steadily applied for him to stop. THEN your useless driver denies reversing and doesn't provide his insurance and registration when asked. It only took 3 phone calls to your supervision office to obtain any information. Co-op taxi employs professional drivers? No. Do this city a service and hire people who understand the knowledge and technical skills of driving, and please stop handing over licences to people who do not deserve to drive. Uber only, from here on out. I'm only giving one star because I cannot proceed without some rating, but know I give a huge ZERO!!!! read more

I called for a cab last Saturday for a Christmas party, I made sure to call an hour in advance due to the busy party season. I was told time would be any where from right away to 30 minutes, so that was fine. Well over an hour later, no sign of a cab. So I called to check on the status, thinking maybe the cab driver was lost (has happened before since I'm in a new 'burb). The lady who I talked to checked their systems and said it wasn't in there and not sure what happened! So asked her how long the wait would be, and was told she wasn't sure now as they are very busy. I didn't bother to call the other cabs, as I did try many times prior to getting thru to Co-Op (had my cell and home phone both on hold for Yellow and Co-Op). So was pretty ticked, ended up just driving and calling one of those companies that picks you up and drives your car home too at the end of the party (see my review for Dedicated Designated Drivers). This is the second time this has happened with Co-Op, the other time being about 3 years ago for my b-day (yes, I was over 2 hours late for my own b-day party). Unfortunately, this city seems to have terrible cab services, regardless of who you call. My advice is to get a DD or use one of those drives you home programs (even if you pay a bit more......least it's reliable) if possible. No more Co-Op for me. ***UPDATE*** I am now a firm believer in Uber. Prices are way more reasonable, I get picked up within 5 minutes, cleaner vehicles, and the drivers will actually talk to you (and not in a disrespectful manner). No more cabs for me! read more

It's time for another "Lyndsey can't find an honest cab driver to save her life" review update. We hopped into a co op cab tonight because they were the first company we could get ahold of on this busy thanksgiving weekend and also because we noticed an improvement in their service with the last driver we used....this optimism however was short lived. The driver asked us if we wanted to take the Henday and then Yellowhead on our way home and we agreed as we don't know directions back to Londonderry from Millwoods all that well. Right up until the Yellowhead everything appeared to be going fine until we came to a stand still and my boyfriend made a "what's going on?" kind of comment to which the driver piped up that something had been going on with the Yellowhead for awhile and pointed out the flashing police lights. We took this statement to mean that he knew traffic was slow before getting us and decided to take the route anyways in order to pad the fare for himself. When my boyfriend finished paying he called dispatch to try and talk to a supervisor and was informed they didn't feel the driver was at fault as they don't alert drivers to road conditions and accidents beforehand (which I feel is bad business on their part) but they did take down the complaint and we are hoping to hear from a supervisor after the long weekend has passed. Cabs are a unique case when it comes to reviews as experiences can differ from driver to driver. My last driver infact with Co op was pretty good so instead of me ending this like I do my other reviews where I encourage fellow yelpers to either use the business or run away I will instead end by encouraging cab customers to memorize directions well and check your smart phones for accident reports as well as construction before you even call. You never know what kind of person you are going to encounter when you open that passenger door so it's best to arm yourself with as much info as possible. read more

Update: I reported the incident with the driver I mentioned in the original review to Co-Op, through their website. Almost two weeks have passed and there has been no response from them whatsoever. There are no standards. They don't care. My friends in EMS and law enforcement have also told me stories about Co-Op drivers refusing to move their vehicles when people were having medical emergencies and emergency vehicles needed access, because the drivers cared more about their fares. At 6am the day of the cab still had not arrived and all dispatch would say is that "its coming" at 615 I gave up and used yellow cabs mobile app to request a cab. It was there in 3 minutes. Trying to present a balanced view of the service provided by coop taxi....based on my own experience and my perusal of the reviews listed here it would appear that there is a customer service issue that runs the gamut from driver non-compliance with company policy to open rudeness and questionable ethics. It seems to me that there are other can companies to use as your first choice. read more

I can only give 1 star to Co-op Taxi for the following reasons: 1. The Taxi drivers do not know where they are going. They have to use their cell phones as GPS in order to find their way around. Of course, this affects the customer financially since he or she has to pay more because his driver didn't find the place the shorter way. 2. They don't seem to understand English well when you speak to some of them. I do not mind that these drivers come from other countries, but they should know well enough the language and the city as part of their occupation as drivers. 3. Believe it or not, they text and speak foreign languages on the phone while serving a customer. 4. Their vehicles need to get clean from time to time. Quite often they are quite smelly inside. 5. It would be so nice if the drivers had good manners. They don't seem to understand what Good morning or Good evening mean. 6. Something else, never call them if you need to get somewhere on time, because we have been waiting for hours, and sometimes the taxi didn't even show up. For all these reasons and more, I believe Co op Taxi is far from being professional and the company is a complete disaster. Wasn't impressed when I booked a cab to come for 8:30 am and by 8:45 was calling to find out where my cab was. Automated service said "searching for a cab to come get you. Estimated wait time is 3 minutes". Waited another 15 minutes which brought me to past 9am (the time I needed to be at work for) and phoned again! Got the exact same message! It took much longer than 3 minutes and couldn't talk to a human no matter what I did! Made worse by the driver (who dropped off my sister- never arrived from my booking until AFTER I was in his car)who acted like it was no big deal that I was going to be forty five minutes late for work due to their automated service lying to me! I think I'll check out Uber in the future and forget cab companies at all! They seem to think they still have the monopoly in this business, and it's a new day and time where ride share apps are the norm! Cabs are now the dinosaurs! I can't complain about Co-op taxi, they've been there when I've needed them and have arrived on time. I did have one driver that was driving extremely fast and had me scared for my life, but that only happened once, so I won't hold it against the entire company. I've had more experience with Yellow Cab and Airport Taxi, so I would recommend those over Co-op Taxi, but there's nothing wrong with going with Co-op. read more

My cab was 20 minutes late, but that sort of thing happens, so I'm not holding it against the review today. Regardless, something I feel I should mention. The individual who drove me to my destination had passable driving skills, but had me questioning whether it would've been smarter to walk at one point. After we arrived, I asked if I could pay by Visa: No! The machine isn't working. Perhaps when 2 out of your 3 methods of receiving payment are no longer working, you should let me know beforehand so I can tell you to get lost so I can find another way home! No matter, I think...I'll do him a favour and get some money out of the ATM in the convenience store. After arguing to leave my bag in the vehicle as collateral, I finally concede and rush over to get money out as fast as possible. It's very busy and late, and tons of drunks are trying to find cabs right now. When I return, there's two other people getting out of the cab, and one of them is attempting to steal the bag that I thought was being watched by this quack of a cabbie. I got my bag back from the thief and had to listen to the cab driver tell me he actually was watching my stuff and wouldn't let someone steal anything, despite an individual making it about 8 feet away from his car with my bag. The long story short here is that I received the opposite of "Above and Beyond". It's like he went out of his way to ruin my night, and almost did. I'd say "Better luck Next Time", but there won't be one. read more
