I love coming here. I've been with Capital Women's Care Howard County for about three years. I've gone through them when I was pregnant and I had a great experience. The doctors were amazing and I plan to continue seeing this group as long as I can. The only issue I would say I have with this office is they are very difficult to reach by phone. There is no option for general questions and the appointment line is always so busy. I would like to be able to press 0 and get the front desk. There is a lot to be said for being able to reach a real human being when dealing with an office. read more

Shoutout to our local community heroes! I am happy about being able to get all my Women's check ups in one venue. Mammogram and yearly exam. It's a friendly office. Easy to get appointments, check-in, and follow-up. The patient portal makes everything more cohesive as well. The results come back in a timely manner and that is perfect for getting things out of the way for the year. The location is good because it's in the Maple Lawn area. There's nice restaurants, gas stations, CVS, and groceries. I can get the most out of the trip to office. I am thankful that my family is well cared for here. I've been a patient of Dr. Safran's for over 10 years, since my original doctor retired. He's fantastic and takes the time to listen, as you meet with him before your appointment. I recently had to deal with something due to cancer, and him and his nurse, Katie Garch, were wonderful as always. Katie had me giggling before my appointment started to calm me, and stayed during the exam to keep me calm. She's an absolute gem with the perfect personality for women's healthcare. read more

This is hard because this had been my OBGYN since I was 16 so about 15 years Now at my first pregnancy there has been MULTIPLE issues. First it's the over billing and the portal is never updated. There is 1 girl at the front desk that is helpful and seems to genuinely know what to do. If you ask anyone else they don't know how to print etc. yet there is always 6 people at front desk. It's a nightmare and once this baby is here I am going to try a different Capital Women's Care this is ridiculous. The Drs are ok there's a few I love but only a few. read more

I would NOT recommend going here. I had an appointment schedule months out and came only to find out that they had canceled the appointment. They claimed to have left a voicemail notifying me of the cancellation but I never received a call from the office. They offered to reschedule which would be another several months out with the doctor...but they followed that up by saying that the schedules have not been confirmed yet. I left to find another office as I don't want the same thing to happen again when it was initially so difficult to get an appointment and leaving not feeling confident that I can be seen when I have made changes to my own schedule well in advance. I wanted to leave a recent review as I recently gave birth and was seeing the Drs in this practice. I went to the Fulton branch and saw all three Drs the entire time. I ended up coming here closer to my second trimester after hating my experience at Signature OBGYN. Everyone here treated me very well. From the support staff, receptionists (shout out specifically to Erica), nurses, and Drs. I really enjoyed my experience. My labor had a lot of complications and Dr. Acholonu was sooo calm throughout it all. I very much appreciated that as it helped me remain calm as well. read more

I was really looking forward to trying out this office after my previous GYN had moved. I waited 2+ months for a new patient appointment and figured it would be worth the wait. Upon asking, I shared with my doctor my prior history with anorexia and she proceeded to give me advice on diet and exercise. I kindly told her I was following up with an outpatient team yet she continued to give her opinion (exercise daily and cut out carbs). I shared my concerns about my period and a diagnosis of endometriosis. She dismissed these concerns. Upon leaving I was given no direction on next steps by my doctor (was the nurse coming back in? Do i throw the cloth gown away?) so I walked out of the patient room and I got lost on my way to the reception area. A rude nurse asked me what I was doing wandering around and rolled her eyes when I told her I was looking for the front desk. When I got to the front desk the receptionist had an attitude when I told her I thought i had a co pay. The whole appointment turned out to be a big waste of time and very defeating. I have been a patient at Capital Women's Care for the past 17 years. I recently had a hysteroscopy completed by one of the doctors at the practice. The doctor was an hour late for the surgery which was unsettling. The procedure went well, however I never actually spoke to the doctor after the surgery. My follow up was scheduled for a week later at 8 a.m. As I was driving to my follow up appointment, a nurse called at 7:40 to cancel my appointment because the doctor was called into labor and delivery. At that point I had already driven all the way to the doctor's office. Capital Women's Care does not respect their patient's time, and I don't think they care very much about women unless they are pregnant. I realize getting called in to deliver a baby is very important, and I would not be upset if this was the first time I had this doctor's office change my appointment. This was the third appointment in 3 months that was changed/canceled with little to no warning. read more

I am saddened to see that after Dr. Esposito's departure last year, this place has totally become a train wreck. Every time I've tried to call to make an appointment, the front desk staff actually answered and hung up. Three times today I called, three different times today I got hung up on. I have been experiencing some complications since last week and was at the ER Wednesday evening- NP said "it was a waiting game and she would call Monday to check in and see how I was doing"- it is now Monday at 3pm, no call back, no follow up, no way to communicate with this office.. overall, I would not recommend starting at this facility unless you have no other option. extremely disappointed. read more

They have clean facilities, friendly employees, all of my in-person interactions have been great... Communication between patients and the CWC outside of the office is poor. The office/my doctor never informed me that my IUD expired. Since CWC documents every interaction I've ever had in their office or with their doctors, they can and should be able to inform me if my IUD expires. I mean, that feels ESSENTIAL to family planning. Anyways, now its been almost 3 weeks since they've ordered the IUD and I still don't know if/when its arriving at the office. I have followed up but its hard to get a hold of anyone via phone and I received no reply via their portal-email system in over a week. All I get is the recording and after several minutes the phone continues to ring and ring. No one EVER answers!!! You cannot even leave a message for someone to call you back. I really like the staff AT THE OFFICE. My provider is very nice and I like her too. But I question how much they value their patients. I left a horrible review last year when it was time for my annual mammogram. it is a source of great anxiety and usually sends me into a full blown panic attack. Lasy year was a horrible experience, from the office not being opened on time, having to wait an excessive amount of time for my appt and then to find out they had not even sent my results out to be read. I swore I would not go back. Well I did, yesterday and it was a 100% different experience. The office was open on time, I was seen promptly and the lady who did my mammogram was so very kind, reassuring and just really wonderful. I got a call today, one day later to tell me all was fine. I am very grateful for the kindness shown me while I was having a panic attack to the phone call today telling me all was well. I am a former patient. I was a patient at this practice during the pregnancy and birth of my second child and had no issues. After I had my baby, however, I couldn't get an appointment. I called many times and I filled out the online form to get an appointment many times over several months. No one ever answered the phone or called me back. I ran out of birth control and got pregnant at the beginning of the pandemic. I still couldn't get an appointment, and I was so scared and stressed that I miscarried, and still couldn't get a response. I finally had to call their emergency number because I didn't know if I would be ok or needed to go to the hospital. They answered the emergency line, but I still couldn't get an appointment after I miscarried. read more

I went to the CWC in Howard County for a few years and saw one of their male doctors, who I will not name. Each time I saw him, I felt sort of dismissed and he never even sat down while I was talking to him until my most recent visit, which can feel quite intimidating as a woman already feeling vulnerable in a women's healthcare office, even if he did not mean to be. Anyway, my most recent visit I explained some weird symptoms that I have been experiencing for the last month & a half. They are not specifically women's health-related; however, I did not think it would hurt to explain my situation. He neglected to give any constructive input, and despite trying to show him my blood test results, which he seemed uninterested in, he refused to administer me my birth control (out of fears for a clot; however, none of my blood tests have yet shown any indication of a malfunction with my clotting factors). I also explained these symptoms to a nurse, who I will not name, who then casually told me she thinks I have leukemia. I told her my several blood tests run/reviewed by my primary care doctor have ruled that out - the nurse then insinuated that my doctor was incorrect & that I probably still have leukemia. Disgusting. No empathy. Absolutely horrified by her casual tone & audacity to challenge another doctor. The lack of professionalism was astonishing. So now, here I am ridden with anxiety, getting 500 more tests done & have completely convinced myself I have cancer thanks to a nonchalant, insensitive nurse. I do not recommend this practice. I reached out to them regarding the aforementioned incidents & requested that the office manager contact me regarding my concerns. It's been over two weeks & I still have not heard back, so clearly they don't give a damn. They have notoriously charged me multiple times for my visits an sent me to collections for bills that had already been paid well in advance, they do not make any effort to communicate payments with my insurance, and treat me like I am just a number. They keep poor records, have no regard for empathy towards patients, and I quite frankly felt uncomfortable each visit. Save yourself the time, money, & emotional distress. I have been waiting to see a doctor for close to two hours. The receptionist at the desk are inviting, however, the service is not so great. I made my appointment weeks ago. This was not a last minute appointment. No one has come to explain why there is a two hour wait or to reschedule. After working an 8 hour day, this is not how one would like to spend the evening. They need to do work as professional. One of front staff made a mistake for my appointment but other staff told me that it is my fault for made wrong appointment and needs to come back for seeing a doctor. They didn't apologize for their mistake. The staff made an appointment for only mammogram and not seeing a doctor but I called for annual check up appointment. They didn't call me for result of mammogram until I called. They didn't receive the mammogram report from other lab to compare my mammogram record until I called so I have to wait few weeks to get the result. They asked me to come back to do mammogram again so they don't knew I did mammogram last year or not. That means they never check my patient's chart before calling me or check status of my result. They never called me to tell results for other test biopsy and ultrasound. They were unprofessional from start to end. They didn't reply back to my email for complaint. I will not go back to Capital Women's care anymore. I don't understand why they have care in their name even they don't take care of Patients well. They are really unprofessional for everything and ask Patient to pay copay for mistakes that they making. I don't understand why I pay copay to them for unprofessional works done by them. read more

There are several locations, but concerning the Maple Lawn/Fulton location - good luck trying to get an appointment over the phone! I've never had such trouble trying to make an appointment anywhere in my life. The providers seem fine, the office is nice, and I like being able to get a mammogram on site. However, none of that matters if you can't even get anyone on the phone to schedule an appointment. I've only been there a few times but in attempting to schedule those appointments I was probably was on hold for no less than 30 minutes (usually more). I brought this to their attention during each visit, but fast forward a year later when I've been trying to call to schedule my yearly exam and haven't been able to get through yet. I guess it's time to find a new GYN practice. read more

I definitely do not recommend coming here! I just delivered my first baby and had a very traumatic experience. The doctor was half asleep during my delivery and never let me know that I tore and had an episiotomy. I had to overhear it from a nurse hours later. When you go into the office for appointments, the staff is not friendly at all!! You can't make appointments in person. You have to call and be put on hold for at least 30 minutes...often to just get hung up on. The level of professionalism or lack there of is awful! Oh, and when you get the survey to describe your experience about your delivery and care in the office, the doctor reads it out loud with you in the room. So unprofessional. Even when contacting the higher ups, all they do is make excuses. No ownership or accountability. I cannot urge you enough to find a new practice! I would not recommend to anyone! read more

I love this practice! Besides being in a new, and beautiful, building, the Doctors and staff are all wonderful. I am pregnant, and having gone through a previous pregnancy with another OBGYN's office, Capital Women's Care of Howard County is so much better. If any of you ladies have been pregnant, you can attest that sometimes offices make you feel like cattle, and like your pregnancy is just a routine procedure that they see all day. Not so here. They definitely go out of their way to make you feel special. For instance, with a previous pregnancy, at a different OBGYN's office, I felt like I was just shuffled in and out. At Capital Women's Care, for my first appointment, I think everyone I passed in the hall told me "congratulations". It was such a wonderful feeling! They really take their time examining you and answering questions. I have had appointments with all of the Doctors, as well as the Ultrasound Technician, and all have been very pleasant. What a miserable group. Scammed into a double-bill by accepting a free sample that I did not ask for. When I called to clear up what I thought was clearly an error with the billing department I was told it was for my diagnosis. I hadn't received any diagnosis! And of course, it was days of worrying something was wrong before I could confirm with NP Linda Follette that there was no diagnosis and no further treatment needed. The second bill was for a sample she gave me. I was charged for a second visit after just answering Linda's questions and being given a sample. Seems pretty dishonest to me- just another jerk trying to pad their wallet and take advantage of people during a pandemic. I obviously won't be returning. read more

I was seeking to establish with a new Gynecologist / practice in my area and Capital Women's Care looked like the solution for me. I scheduled an appointment and was contacted by them to submit extensive information digitally, prior to my initial visit, including a scan of my Medicare and Supplemental Insurance cards. I have been on Medicare for 7 years, and I also have AARP United Healthcare Medicare Supplement Plan F. Very attractive new building and front office. I entered the office, entered a lot of digital information at the front desk and the was given several pages of health history information that they requested, along with another sheet that I was told would be explained "when they call you in for your appointment". I glanced down at it and saw the line "you will be charged $145 for this visit and it will not be covered by Medicare". Since I went on Medicare I have not every paid for a Well Woman annual visit and I asked them to explain. I was told that their contract with Medicare did not cover acceptance of Medicare for annual gynecology visits, nor would my supplemental insurance be accepted as it was associated with Medicare. I was livid! They had all my insurance details days in advance, and did not "mention" there would be an out-of-pocket charge of $145. I declined the visit on the spot and will not proceed with any association with that practice. I called Medicare and there are plenty of providers in my area who honor Medicare. This practice only impressed me as more concerned with $$ than in informing patients appropriately that they would expect an out of pocket payment where most others do not. Shame on them, glitzy offices and all! Their doctors might be fine, but their business practice, in this case, is inadequately honorable. read more

Been with this practice for a few years now and Dr Seavey is amazing. Calm, reassuring bedside manner and I don't feel rushed when I'm with her. If I have questions after the fact, she follows up quickly and hats a plus. Had a procedure done and she put my mind at ease since I'd never been under anesthesia before. The front desk staff is a little less than stellar but she makes up for that and you can also request appointments online (super convenient). If Dr Seavey were to leave, I'd follow her. read more

I went to CWC for prenatal care and regret it. A doctor there was recommended by a friend, but because you see a panel of doctors I saw that doctor only three times. What made me the most mad is that without my permission or even a mention, they swept my membrane on 38 week of pregnancy (I was told it was a cervical exam). The doctor said I will deliver soon and I delivered the next day. I found out that babies are not considered full term until week 39. I had a healthy pregnancy without any complication so it breaks my heart to know that the baby probably came before it was ready. Also, there were amount due on many visits, which the front desk staff had no idea what they were for. When I talked to my insurance company the amount that should have been due was much lower. There billing office (which is a different place/ phone number) said that if I am charged extra I will get the money back after delivery... why charge extra now and return it later? I didn't understand what all the payments I made were for. read more

This is my 4th pregnancy but first with CWC. I've decided to find another obgyn. My overall experience with CWC is: 1- doctors do not come in to the appointment knowing your history or even bringing the chart with them. It's generic prenatal visits. High likelihood of something important slipping through the cracks, especially if you have significant health issues or prior pregnancy problems. 2- doctors and staff have the mindset of "it's someone else's responsibility." They expect you to have multiple specialists for simple pregnancy-related issues that obgyns can handle. 3- if you don't know to ask for the care that you need, you won't get it. They have missed basic prenatal tests/measurements out of sheer laziness. It's like having to be your own doctor. Doctors are very personable and really focused on bedside manners, but seriously lacking where it really matters: medical care. I would be putting my and the baby's health in danger by continuing to go to them. Below is a more detailed review if you're interested.. STAFF: Generally, they have a welcoming attitude. Medical knowledge, not so much. I was told by Bea that one of my lab results was normal. I asked her what the number was.. she had to stop and look it up and continued to say it's normal when she told me the number. It was so not normal! I called my regular specialist right away who ended up immediately putting me on medication to manage the abnormal result. If I hadn't forced her to tell me the number and taken her word for it, I would've risked my baby's development. On two appointments I wasn't asked to leave a urine sample (as is done at every prenatal visit). Surprisingly, the doctors didn't seem to have noticed, until I asked if a urine sample is not required at every visit anymore. Doctor was shocked that I hadn't left a sample for a couple of previous visits.. but of course, she would have known that if she bothered to check my last visit before walking in to the appointment. So, this one is on the MA and doctors. Examples of you having to be your own doctor.. DOCTORS/NP: The NP Linda Follette was a pleasure. I didn't feel rushed, she actually answered medical questions with informed medical answers, and offered actual solutions to pregnancy symptoms instead of trying to refer me out to my PCP or just blaming it on hormones. She was also the only one who bothered to call with test results, even though they were normal (left message saying that she thought I'd like to know to put my mind at ease). Dr Modi- She was just filling in while they were short-staffed. Her first question was "Have you been staying away from Google?" I've never met her before, so I found that to be very judgmental. Trying to re-route the appointment to medical issues, I asked her if there is a need to be concerned about one of my lab results being elevated.. Her answer: "Ask your MFM to do another ultrasound to check on the baby, because you won't believe anything I say anyway." She said this in a super nice way btw and I had given her no reason to think that I wouldn't believe her. She also managed to bring God in the conversation.. something to the effect "people can have issues in pregnancy but God plays a role." How is this a medical appointment?! And how do you assume that I believe in God?! She talked about her mom and daughter during the visit. She also tried to tell me that the whooshing sound on the Doppler is the baby's heartbeat. It's not. Bottom line: she had no clue about my pregnancy history and just tried to have a generic appointment.. so friendly but so full of crap. Dr Hundley- I was looking forward to this appointment but again was thoroughly disappointed at the lack of medical care. She also had no idea about my pregnancy history. I found it irresponsible that they don't look at the chart or even bring the chart with them to the room. At least Dr Hundley admitted to not knowing anything about my history. She also tried to pawn off a simple pregnancy-related issue to my PCP. I asked her when we start taking fundal measurements.. she had to check the billing sheet to see how many weeks I was.. then said "yeah we'll start today, but there's no point, we know it's right at the belly button." What?! I don't want my doctors eyeballing or just assuming that everything is ok instead of actually checking something so easy that they're SUPPOSED to be checking as part of the prenatal visit (and of course getting paid for it)! I know CWC Fulton has great reviews for bedside manner.. they seem to know exactly how to make women FEEL like they're getting care. For some women, that's just what they need: someone friendly who is good at making them FEEL comfortable. But most women are smart enough to know that these doctors are seriously lacking on actual medical care. read more

This practice is one of the worst of any type of doctor's office I've ever experienced. Short version- they are rude, unprofessional and don't adhere to their after-hours policy of calling you back within 15 mins. I had been assured that there was always a doctor on call and that they would be available in case of an emergency. Dr. Huntley and answering service are all extremely rude. They do not care about their patients. Especially if it's your first pregnancy, I would find a different practice (Johns Hopkins has been a wonderful experience over the last 7 weeks) because this one will be a waste of your time and cause you more stress than do anything good. Long version- I was unhappy when Womankind decided to merge with Capital Women's Care and only gave me a few weeks notice about the transition. Up until that point, I had had relatively decent care at the practice, save a few rude receptionists, and they assured me that my care would remain the same. When they merged, everything really went downhill-longer wait times in the office, even more rude staff, a generally negative experience. I let everything slide until one incident finally put me over the edge and made me switch practices. I was 28 weeks pregnant with my first child and I happened to be in NY, visiting family while my husband was on a business trip in CA, when I started feeling pain I had never felt before and wasn't sure if I could be in early labor. I called the practice after hours and spoke with the answering service, who told me Dr. Huntley would call me back within 15 mins. When 30 had passed, I called back. I was told that they hadn't gotten ahold of her and to call back again after another 15 mins if she still hadn't called, which I did. This time, the response was condescending and rude, annoyed that I had called back (despite it having been their instructions that caused me to call back!) when they told me that they didn't know where she was and they would call me when they found her. I received 2 calls from the answering service after that, telling me that they were still trying to locate her. I was thoroughly upset by this time, as this was still my first pregnancy and I didn't know if I should be getting to a hospital. The pain eventually subsided and after over 2 hours from my initial call, Dr. Huntley finally called me back. When I told her the pain had gone, she seemed irritated that I had bothered her by calling for something that was already over. She basically told me, very nonchalantly, that it didn't sound like anything serious and that I shouldn't be worried (I had pretty much gathered that I didn't need to worry by that point. Baby was still moving and pain had stopped...). She didn't try to reassure me of anything, get more information or apologize for anything, she just sounded annoyed to be talking to me, like she had somewhere else she'd rather be. During my entire pregnancy up to that point, I had only called the office with questions two other times when I was unsure of what was going on so it's not like they could have been annoyed by my constant calls- not that that really would have been acceptable either, I would have just understood better. The office called me the next week to find out why I had canceled all my appointments. I told them and then Dr. Huntley called me the next day to, very insincerely, "apologize" for everything and say she wished I wasn't leaving the practice. I'm guessing she got in trouble and was told she had to call. The worst part? Dr. Huntley is the doctor who came from Womankind. I had only ever seen the practitioners. I'm glad I never had to meet her in person and, at the same time, also kind of wish I had because I wouldn't have had to even move over to Capital Women's Care or deal with any of this. read more

One star for the building, the office, and the front desk staff (and Dr. Seavey)...minus stars for other doctors and billing staff. I only saw the team at CWC for 3 months of my first pregancy. But after multiple lackluster responses to my questions about an unmedicated birth, a false alarm during an ultrasound that kept me in the waiting room for over an hour without any information, then being told to get to a specialist right away and have everythign be fine. I left and switched to signature midwives where I had an incredible experience. Their billing staff double billed my insurance for services and despite my outreach to CWC multiple times they remained uncommunicative to the point of negligence. I am pregnant right now and need to make regular appointments and it's super irritating that I have to wait a minimum of an hour for a 5 minute appointment.
