There's something uneasy and depressing about a store that- for YEARS- has pushed their agenda for 'wellness' and 'caring'- and yet is impersonal and downright rude in terms of actual customer service. KEVIN, the "Manager", is disinterested in helping customers, this is the third interaction with him where he's been hurt and makes it clear that he'd rather you go to another store than have to deal with anything less complicated than pulling something off the shelf. Note that this issue came up with Kevin a year ago, and he's consistently uncaring if it doesn't suit his agenda or his timetable. That that's not how you handle loyal customers. They employ one "homeopathist", who apparently splits their time between stores, and was not available the three times we called. Apparently, she runs her own business and puts more of her time and energy in that then in being on site for walk-in customers. Did manage to schedule a call with the owner, we'll see if that makes any difference in how this rather entitled staff handles loyal customers. Called on a Thursday around 3:30 to see if they had anything to help me address what felt like a hard-hitting cold or flu, RIGHT before a 4 day business trip starting that evening. Got transferred inadvertently to the pharmacist - a woman who was lovely and took the time to go through over-the-counter options. She said she would put them aside for me at the register. I literally jumped in my car and headed over- and traffic being what traffic is at that time, wound up right at the correct exit at about 5:15 (they close at 5:30). Called the store, got someone named "Kevin" who said they were 'already closing up for the evening' (? it's 5:15, but okay). I plead that I'd been in the car for close to 45 minutes for what should have been a 20 minute commute, and could I please purchase the items, perhaps they could just leave them outside or with a neighbor. NOTE that I've been frequenting this business for close to 30 years, and like so many businesses, have observed what used to be genuine kindness and care for customers dwindle along with the rest of the retail culture. So Kevin again repeats he's 'already closing the register' and cannot help me. I manage to park and make it to the front door at EXACTLY 5:31. EXACTLY. The store is already gated and there is Kevin - RIGHT by the front door - and he ignores my knocking. Yes. This 'caring' business about wellness that knows I am trying to beat a horrible cold before travel chooses to IGNORE the 30-year-loyal customer because it's uncomfortable for Kevin to show some compassion or kindness. He waves for me to go away. I plead that the pharamacist left everything right there at the register, could I just please pay cash and get my items after being in traffic for close to an hour? Again, he ignores me. That will be my last trip to Capitol Drugs. Caring and wellness, this place is definitely NOT about. And Kevin: I hope you never are on the receiving end of the unkindness you showed this 30-year-loyal customer... WOULD GO TO KING'S DOWN THE ROAD with far cheaper pricing for the same Chinese and Homeopathic remedies at 1/3 the cost of the re-branded Capitol Drugs items. read more

I've been a customer of Capitol Drugs since 1997 and have seen a huge decline in product and services. Many of the shelves are empty, and it sometimes takes 3 days for a prescription to be refilled. The hours have been drastically reduced, the pharmacy is strictly bankers hours m-f 9:00am-5:30pm closed on weekends and holidays. You face a real problem if you get sick on the weekends and need to start antibiotics immediately, you are forced to go to a large chain pharmacy. I have no issue with the staff, most of who I know by first name, they go out of their way to help and occasionally will see me parking and will have my prescriptions ready at the counter.Customer service is alive and well. Granted I am not the easiest customer with over 30 monthly prescriptions I'm frequently in the store, but I find frustrating the 3 day waits and no website for refills or history. On a positive note the crew in the store are really working on making the store more inviting, new paint and countertops have made a change for the better.6 months ago I would have bet $ that they were closing this store, now the place is looking better, unfortunately the pharmacy hours continue to be abysmal. read more

Capitol Drugs staff, and especially the pharmacists, go the extra mile for their customers. They are also extremely knowledgeable. I've been going to Capitol Drugs for various products and prescriptions since the 1990s and I hope to never leave. Debbie and Treza, most notably, really have helped me receive hard to obtain prescriptions. They really work for you! It's more of an effort, honestly, to continue to shop at Capitol Drugs because they cannot contend with, say CVS's hours, but the outcome makes me happy to support a local Mom & Pop store - one the the only ones I know of these days. They sell holistic products, vitamins and supplements as well as have a pharmacy. Free and easy parking make going there a breeze, but it has to be Monday through Friday unless you make arrangements before Friday evening. read more

Phenomenal. I was filling with Walgreens for the past 8 years because that's where I started going when I moved to LA. A few days before I had to leave for a trip my prescriptions needed to be refilled and I contacted Walgreens and they said they no longer contract with my insurance, so I had to scramble last minute to get my prescriptions. I called Capitol and they immediately handled it, they transferred all of my information over, my insurance, everything, and then contacted me and had it all ready in the same exact day. You will never get this level of customer service anywhere else. If you can fill here, it's absolutely worth it. A day that started with something negative ended up being a blessing. My chiropractor/acupuncturist recommended I put arnica on my broken foot, and my cbd spray is running way low so I swung by Capitol Drugs for the first time after she said it would be a super quick and easy transaction with minimal waiting and exposure to larger crowds. I pulled up, phoned the number on the door (818-905-8338), hit option 2, connected to a live person and was given three different options. I opted for the cream, paid over the phone and it was brought right out to me. I'm certain this was quicker than finding a parking spot at Whole Foods. Now if this stuff will just help the bone healing process and ease the discomfort. I'm way into homeopathic remedies and the sheer thought of even having to take Aleve some days to get through this break has been a bit stressful. I've had the most pleasant experiences with the naturopathic staff. I'm always greeted and asked if I need help. They've processed special orders and have called me when items are restocked. Its prices are lower than competitors in the Valley and Santa Monica, and they beat Whole Foods and Sprouts. Its selections are high-quality and vast. Parking is great. Hours are challenging for me but at least it's open on Saturday. I used visit during weekday mornings when my schedule permitted. read more

Capitol Drugs has a wealth of supplements and health aids, and extremely knowledgeable staff to answer all of your questions.

This pharmacy is located in a strip mall area - plenty of parking in the large lot. They sell a lot of holistic products but also have a pharmacy where I get my thyroid medication. Customer service with pharmacists over the phone is usually good as well. Can't give it 5 stars because the hours make it difficult for me to pick up my prescription since they are only open work hours 10-7pm. And once I brought back a prescription I got there and asked if the pharmacists could cut the pills in half for my new dosage and the lady working the register said I'd have to buy a pill cutter. Most other pharmacies would do that for you for prescriptions you get from there. read more

A message to the owner- Long standing pillar of our community is currently employing more employees than serving customers. Ran in w an eye problem needing to flush out something that blew into my eye while I was in the drive through line and not one person of four that I saw with tge other eye was worth ANY association with helping people or problem solving AT ALL. System down. No way for any electronic payment. Debit. Credit. ApplePay. Not even Venmo. They didn't even offer water in my moment of pain. The most helpful one told me to use tea. If I can't get water, how the heck am I to find tea in a drug store. I rummaged all the change from my car and still didn't have enough for eye drops. Offered to leave a car key or my license for the remaining three dollars and still nothing. I've never seen more incompetency in my life. I know. Im always surrounded by competent people. AND YES!!! Not even distilled water. Why wouldn't a drug store sell distilled water. Bottled drinking water? So hard to believe ... four employees??? When you can't process payments???? read more

Capitol Drugs is a fantastic store that carries an excellent variety of quality supplements and nutritional products, at very good prices, from the better manufacturers: Standard Process, Metagenics, Designs for Health. Been coming here for over 20 years. Glad to see they hired a person to work the store who actually understands customer service. Historically they always had good, knowledgeable, friendly staff but there was a period of about 2-3 years where they had this Ahole, white male, middle age, brown hair, glasses working the counter. Stopped going there because of him. SO HAPPY to meet the new guy Justin yesterday. What an improvement! Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, likes his job. Store looks amazing again. I had started buying my supplements online to avoid that Ahole who used to work there but I got all my refills at the store yesterday and saved a bunch of money. When a pharmacy gives you a CONTAMINATED prescription and then refuses to replace it, I'd say that's a bad pharmacy to do business with. This happened to me, and all I asked for was a replacement of the unused portion of the prescription. They said no, it was my problem. I usually like to buy local and I'm a small business supporter, but medicine (the wrong kind or contaminated meds) can be serious, even life threatening. And to add insult to injury, there is NO concern for privacy at this pharmacy, so proceed with caution, because everyone in the small store will hear your prescription, questions and the answers you're given. I've even heard the staff making jokes about customers after the customers leave the store. You've been warned...proceed at your own risk. read more

The staff are knowledgable, friendly and the store is jammed packed with fun health goodies to fix or assist any ailment. It's a health nut's dream place! I have been coming here for years. It's a little pharmacy in a shopping center. The store has holistic and alternative medicine. They have crystals, soaps, supplements and so much more. They are very knowledgeable and will assist you in finding natural ways to cure any ailment. Everyone knows me by name and greets me as soon as I get there! Love all the employees there! They go above and beyond to assist their customers. They call or send out text messages when my medications are ready. If I ever request anything with my meds, it's never a problem. They take care of calling the doctor and getting authorizations. I would definitely recommend Capitol if you want specialized care. I've been going to this location (and the one in West Hollywood) for years. The negative reviews are really surprising, since I've always gotten great service here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prescriptions are always ready. If you need to wait for it to be filled, usually doesn't take longer than 15/20 minutes. If you're out of a medication, they will call or fax your doctor for a refill. Treza (Tresa?), Jackie and Debbie are amazing. They really go out of their way to help you and solve problems. They have a great selection of general pharmacy items like lotion, soap, and toothpaste. Cashier was rude. There was an older gentleman working at the counter who had just finished waiting on a customer who had many questions and was a the counter for about 7 or 8 minutes. He was the only person working on the floor. I waited until he was finished to ask him a quick (yes or no) question before he waited on the next customer. He initially acted like he couldn't hear me, so I spoke louder. The next woman in line actually gestured to him that I was talking to him. He turned around and told me "I'm not going to answer your question until I'm finished with her." I told him I just need a quick yes or no and then I'll be on my way. He ignored me and proceeded to ring up the customer. I honestly wanted to walk out, but they were lucky that I had no other option at the moment. He spoke to me so rudely, it was unacceptable.
