My brother and I were visiting DC and a river cruise came highly recommended by friends. I live landlocked in Arizona, so the appeal was overwhelming. We took the sunset cruise and it was very enjoyable. The boat had ample seating in different areas. I really liked the seating style with tables instead of just plain seats. The attendants play a recording that explains the different sights that the boat is passing by. However, if you prefer to just chat amongst your group, it's fairly easy to tune out. I enjoyed this experience and would definitely do it again!

This was a great little activity to do on the waterfront. I believe that the tickets were a bit pricey for what we got. The cruise was about 45 minutes and they didn't really have water on board unless you bought it. The one thing I did not like was that the captain of the ship was not nice to us when we got on and to the guy helping him. The other thing was that there was a tape playing to give info about things we would pass on the way, was going way too fast and not personable. The other guy was really nice. Got a drink for $5, even though I wanted water but it was nice.

Fun experience to view the District from a new perspective! My friend and I ventured to Georgetown alongside a larger group to catch the Capitol River Cruises with their Cherry Blossom Boat event. We loaded the dock near the Georgetown Waterfront and started our journey right on time. The staff was very helpful in making sure everyone got on the boat safely with a supportive hand as we stepped aboard! With it being a cloudy, slightly rainy day, it was reassuring that the staff was consistently making sure there was comfortable seating and room for all of the customers. I really enjoyed seeing all of the major DC monuments accompanied by a detailed recount of its history! With tickets being only $25-$28 dollars, this was a nice deal and felt like money well spent for the opportunity to see the blossoms via boat. I would perhaps suggest the tours to incorporate stop times for people to take photos with the landmarks. This was a fantastic cruise and I look forward to seeing what other Capitol River Tours are conducted throughout the year! Wonderful and affordable tour for family and friends.

We went on the 2:00 pm cherry blossom cruise today. I purchased tickets online about a week ago. We did not want to deal with the Tidal Basin traffic this year, and seeing the city landmarks from the water provides a unique perspective. It probably was the last day of peak bloom, and it had been a chilly week, but the sun was shining today. You don't see the trees as close-up from the water, but you get the advantage of seeing a wider view of the whole lovely DC landscape. It can be a little chaotic at the dock; there are several different boat tours loading in the same area. But we waited for Nightingale II, which came in on time, and the crew helped everyone aboard. The Nightingale I was scheduled to depart at 2:15, so it came in right after we left. We sat in the bow and had good views of everything. At $25 per person for 45 minutes, it was very reasonable. They have a small bar on board, so we purchased beer ($5). It was a very enjoyable time.

What a cool way to see the monuments on the other side of the river especially on a warm day. They have a lot of shaded seats so if you want to sit toward the front have sunscreen and or a hat. They do have a bar to grab refreshing drinks. The intercom was a little shotty so it was hard to hear the information about the monuments but there were some great pic opportunities. All together it was a very nice day.

We had a great time on the monument cruise at sunset. It's no frills with basic chairs and tables. There is a pre-recorded tour voice track that runs for part of it. It wasn't timed just right but if you have someone local on trip, they can point out the sites. There is alcohol on board to buy, again basic service, nothing too fancy. We didn't have problems with boarding and everyone formed a line. We all had fun, and for the price you can't beat it.

We opted to cruise directly underneath the flight path for jets landing at DCA for a few exhilarating flyovers, then took in the Lincoln Memorial from the water. Want to play your own tunes? The hosts answered all our questions, we were able to connect to the speaker, and we got in a mini photo shoot on the dock during the halfway point pit stop. The ride was very peaceful but also lit when we wanted it to be! Other groups were waving from their boats, the monuments provided poppin' views/backdrops throughout the ride, and we didn't even actually haaaave to paddle the whole time! I would definitely get a group together and go out on the water with this company again! A lit DC summer experience!

There are some problems with doing this in DC; notably that the area on the water is scenic but ill-suited for docks and commuters; there aren't a lot of places where you can access businesses or other transit options near the water. The arrival of the Wharf and the new stadiums has changed that to some extent. But then, there also aren't a lot of great companies running boats. The Georgetown-Alexandria trip I took partially because the Metro is under repair and partially because I wanted the view. However, the boat was pretty unimpressive, with an unsheltered upper deck, and an indoor lower deck filled with folding chairs. Loading and unloading the boat was not particularly time-efficient. You do get some nice views, but there's no stopping to dwell on anything. There is an annoying PA system making various comments as you ride. The thing doesn't seem to know whether it's for tourists or commuters, but I struggle to see it as being great for either. If the price had been half what it was, I might have let them off with three stars, but the water taxi is way expensive, more so than comparable boat rides I've taken elsewhere. It's unfortunate this is the best there is, because our beautiful landscape and waterways demand to be used by people who don't own yachts.

We tried to go into it with low expectations just in case they had a meager amount of chocolate with limited dipping material... ...and we ended up having a good time! There was a chocolate fondue fountain on both levels, and a pot of specialty chocolate to dip in (forgot what it was, but it had alcohol). And there were strawberries, pretzels, chips, pineapple, cream puffs (I ate like 20 of these), nutter butters, cakes, cookies, wafers... Needless to say... they definitely deserve to call themselves a legit 'dessert buffet'. The chocolate was good, and they refilled quite often to my delight.... and we got to have a conversation with the captain, and enjoy the breeze and the views during the ride. It was a grand experience. Definitely got my fill of chocolate =D

From the beginning, the driver was late which put the family in panic mode. They had lots of luggage that needed to be loaded and the driver showed up 8 minutes late, which caused unneeded stress. Calls to customer service to check on the car were immediately put on hold and then disconnected. Rather than putting the family at ease, the dispatcher was rude, sarcastic, and dismissive and ruined the ride for the family. I later spoke with the manager & owner, thinking they would make it right, but instead, they made excuses and dismissed the complaints & concerns as "things that happen". The fact that this company puts themselves first before their customers and makes excuses for their own actions, speaks volumes about their lack of customer service & satisfaction. I do not recommend this company ever!

But thanks to my job and my role in planning meetings and events, I got to finally check renting a yacht off my list. Setting up the event was easy. A phone call, talking through options and placing a deposit secured the boat. It wasn't inexpensive, but it also wasn't bad since food and drinks are included for our 25 guests. For food, there are several options to choose from. You can do appetizer stations, have appetizers passed while people are enjoying cocktails, or you can skip apps and just do dinner. For dinner we opted for a sit down meal, but they also offer a buffet. For the plated meal, you get to choose two proteins, a starch and a vegetable. I chose a filet, mahi mahi, potatoes and carrots. The meal also comes with a spinach salad and bread. They kept the drinks flowing throughout, and for dessert we selected the chocolate cake. The boat is nice, the staff super, and cruising around is awesome! Sadly, the food is the low point. For appetizers we had a mix of things, including seared beef, spanakopita, samosas, chicken satay and bruschetta. The appetizers were pretty good but the bruschetta was served on stale crackers. I always thought the point of bruschetta was the bread. Also disappointing was the filet and mahi mahi. The filet was ordered medium to accommodate different tastes...middle of the road, I figured. Every filet was well done and the sauce tasted only of mustard. The fish was like shoe leather...so overdone. I ended up eating the salads and sides. I know it's difficult to cook on a boat, but what about cooking the filet whole and then carving it? Or just get someone who knows how to cook. If I were to do this again, I'd skip the food altogether, or maybe just do appetizers (I can buy the bread for them). People still had fun, even with the bad food. Just being on the water makes everything better.

We were aiming for a Cherry Blossom tour, but the trees weren't on our side this time. The cruise itself was fine, as it took us around. I didn't really notice anything of note, except the Washington Monument in the distance. (This could just be my ignorance as well.) There was a deceptive display of coffee urns and mugs, but there was not coffee. That was disappointing. The bottom deck had several chairs in rows, and upstairs there are a few tables. You can also go outside on either end of the vessel. If you are on the bottom in the back, it's really loud, as that's where the motor is. Upstairs has cushioned seats and the engine isn't as noisy up there. In the front, there is some seating as well and it can also be loud if it's windy. We didn't buy anything from the snack station as we had just eaten, but I saw that they had a decent snack selection.
