Cool way to explore by water taxi between national harbor and Alexandria. It's $8 one way. And the inside of the boat has AC, bathroom, and a water station. Ride is pretty long and slow but it's a cool tourisy way to explore. Wish I could have taken it in the day time. If you're in National Harbor, take it to go eat in Alexandria.

Chartered dinner cruise for the convention I attended. The Cherry Blossom took us up the Potomac from Alexandria and I found it to be extremely peaceful and enjoyable. The food was good, the drinks were flowing, and the band was talented. I loved standing at the front of the boat (ship?) and feeling the wind blow through my hair, as I watched planes land at DCA. What a wonderful evening.

If you're hanging out in Old Town, you might as well hop on the water taxi and visit The National Harbor as well, or vice versa. A nice way to take in being out on he water. Takes about 30-40 mins or so. Not too long. You can sit indoors or outside. Limited seating outside. If you're sensitive to the cold or traveling with someone older, I highly recommend they bring a jacket or shawl to stay warm since there is a breeze. $8 one way, $16 roundtrip. I've taken the water taxi about 6 times in total. Yes, you can drive, but there's something fun about being on the water!

The Potomac Riverboat Company offers a wide range of services from private parties to water taxi service between Georgetown and Alexandria to tours of Mount Vernon and even Architectural tours of the Washington Monuments. I used their water taxi service between the Gaylord Resort and Old Town Alexandria ($16.00 for a round trip) which was great. Efficient, quick (about 20 minutes) and the easiest and cheapest way to get over to Oldtown. As a comparison- a cab is going to run you about $17 one way but takes about 5 minutes less. 4 stars for sure. As for their tours of the Washington monuments-if you haven't been to Washington DC before- this is not the best way to see the sights of our nation's capital. Take a bus tour where you can get off and walk through the various monuments and learn about the history of them. But if you are just looking to be out in the sun and take an hour boat cruise up the Potomac or need transportation between the shopping in Alexandria and Georgetown- then it should be fine. While there is a recorded tour on the boat along with a map that points out the various points of interest- you really cannot see any of the monuments (except the backs or sides of them) and the Washington Monument (tall enough to see from anywhere) And know that the promise of a "snack bar" on board is some old popcorn from the last trip, and soda and beer served out of coolers. The round trip ticket between Alexandria and Georgetown will run you $32 and it doesn't matter which side of the boat you sit on as if you do the round trip- you will get the full tour as some of the sights are only talked about in one direction. The entire round trip takes about two hours. The crew of the boats are efficient although not particularly engaging or personable which I expected given they are in a tourist business. My suggestion? Use the Potomac Riverboat Company for transport only (they are great at it!) and leave the tours to those companies that can get you front and center with all there is to see in our nation's capital.

If you're visiting, don't have a car, are on foot and want to sight see this boat ride is worth the $30ish per person ticket. About 45 minutes to an hour you can get a guided sight seeing your that cuts straight down the Potomac with both sides of DC right there for you to see and enjoy. The covered boat keeps you cool from the hot sun, and they do sell snacks and drinks on board too if you want. It's a nice break, and you learn a lot!

Looking for something to do outdoors and that's local? Highly recommend this Potomac boat tour!! I went to the location in Old Town Alexandria. Try to come about 15 mins before departure because the boat leaves right on time and you don't want to be left behind! All the ship mates and captain are so friendly and gave us tips about the city. Even if you grew up here, you'll learn something new from their guided tour and get a fun history lesson at the same time. Plus, it's beautiful and sight for sore eyes! Renews your love for the city with such a simple tour. My boat headed toward the Georgetown waterfront. Some tours also go to National Harbor. We passed by the Washington and Lincoln monuments, and went under a few bridges (thrilling to hear the back stories!). I never felt rushed and it was the perfect amount of time. Everyone had enough room on the boat and 2-level decks to distance from one another.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST WAY TO GET TO A NATS GAME Took this slightly bougie, fully worth it, mode of transportation to get to a 7pm game and it was perfect! The staff is friendly and clear about pick up/drop off details, the views on your trip are incredible, AND THEY SELL YUENGLING ON BOARD A+

The Water Taxi Service is new and their modern aluminum boats are pretty nice; and, air conditioned. Took a ride from Old Town Alexandria to the new Wharf district of SW DC and enjoyed a new way of getting to a few points along the Potomac River of a huge metropolitan area.

My family and I took the Monument River Cruise from Alexandria to Georgetown round trip today. We left Alexandria at 6:30 pm and our scheduled returned time was 10:30 pm but the boat never showed up. We were waiting for at least 1 hour since 9:30 pm. There was another girl who was waiting for this boat to show up. We had to come back to Alexandria, Old town in Uber ($20). We will be going to Old town tomorrow to ask for reimbursement for the entire trip (not just the return trip like the lady on the phone was offering us) because if we knew ahead of time that we were not going to be picked up... then we wouldn't have done the round trip in the first place. Update: The company contacted me this morning and were reasonable to reimburse me the entire amount of the 3 trips. I am giving them 3 stars because of the inconvenience.

Canine Cruise - one happy customer!

This review is for the Canine Cruise only. We participated in the Canine Cruise and had a wonderful decently priced experience with an extremely friendly staff. My only complaint would be that it was slightly overcrowded. I would kindly suggest that fewer tickets be sold with some additional cruises added to the calendar. If it were just humans, it would be fine, but when people are bringing aboard 1-3 of their dogs, it was hard to turn without bumping into someone or stepping on a tail.

Horrible. Zero adherence to their own schedule. Nobody knows what's going on. We got 1:40 tickets from DC to Alexandria they charged $12 a person. Its 2:15 PM now and the boat still has not arrived. The person at the booth who sold as the tickets has not said a word about boats running late. And, they dont take refunds. Looks like we are getting on 2:40. They just marinated us in line under the sun for 1.5 hours.

The taxi staff gave us scented sticks to sniff on to help with the horrible smell.

The $50 includes the round trip ferry cruise, admission and mansion tour of Mount Vernon. The cruise leaves at 8:30a and takes 1.5 hours to reach Mount Vernon as it passes through the Potomac River. Throughout the ride, there is some commentary about some sites we pass by. You arrive at Mount Vernon at 10a and have to meet back at the port by 1:15p, leave by 1:30p and return back to DC by 3:00p. I thought it was a good amount of time to tour the mansion and explore Mount Vernon grounds, along with the visitor center that has a George Washington exhibit. Highly recommend the Spirit cruise!

Taking a tour bus cost roughly $100, and this was only $45 regular price- I was able to get a promo code online which made it about $40. Then you set sail around 830 and arrive at mount Vernon at approx 1000 am It's about a half mile up to the house from the docks, but there's stuff to see along the way. You can also catch a shuttle that runs every so often. You get about 3.5 hours on the grounds to explore. I've heard some people say this isnt enough time - I can kind of see where they are coming from. Mount Vernon is huge! But for me personally, I felt it was enough time to hit the high lights. They served food (I had a breakfast sandwich) and drinks (including alcohol) on the boat for a fee. My coffee and sandwich was under $5 which seemed very fair. The bottom two decks are enclosed and the top is open - view from the open top deck is worth it. you pass lots of sights like national harbor, fort Washington, Alexandria, etc I went more towards the off season so in summer I can see it being packed. In fall it was not so busy that you felt crowded but not so empty that it felt weird. The boat leaves from 600 water st. I highly recommend!

BE ADVISED the parking situation is TERRIBLE, they don't tell you this but the $15 parking they advertise is FALSE, they do not let ANYONE park on "their" parking lot. *As an alternative I recommend looping around and parking on the meter's directly across the street*, do not bother parking near the marina, it's dirty and unsafe. I was really unhappy with the parking situation because if you don't find parking near by you'll end up paying minimum $10 just for parking. There are two cruises Cherry Blossom Cruise and Sunset Cruise, we chose that one because it's longer with 90 minutes on the water and 30 minutes return time. It was better than expected in terms going close to the air port (it was cool seeing planes take off and land) and some other historical monuments. Although we didn't see anything very significant such as the Lincoln or Jefferson Memorial. Snacks, drinks, and alcohol were available on board. You will not find any main course meals but light amenities are available. Overall it was an okay cruise, but with the weird parking situation something is definitely up with this company.
