Our Scout Pack 931 Organized a…read morevolunteer night and I did not know much about the organization before signing up to volunteer with Scouts. You can register to volunteer on the website. https://spreadthewordnevada.org/volunteer-options/ They have several ways to Volunteer. We did the book preparation volunteering. Volunteer times are usually 2 hours on a Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6PM-8PM. When arriving at Spread the word it is good to know that you enter through a side door in a strip mall off of American Pacific and Gibson. Workers and volunteers then explain the process. Step 1; Grab some books. Step 2; Inspect the books for writing, tears or stickers. If the book is damaged, try to repair it or recycle it. Step 3; Clean it with a wet rag and dry off. Step 4; Categorize the book in 2 different boxes depending on if it has a bar code or not. There are also other bins for Spanish and Library books. Step 5; When you have filled a box someone grabs the box and puts in a bigger bin in the warehouse. Step 6; clean up your workstation! A few tips: You may want to wear vinyl or latex gloves when handling the books. Some had water damage and questionable stains.
