Also, my former boss was (back then) and still is active at this church. He is in charge of the prison ministry where the church provides pastries and coffee for families waiting to see inmates at the Limestone Correctional Facility. Other missions of Good Shepherd are Homeless Ministry where they supply the homeless with food and needed items; they partner with other churches to build a house for Habitat for Humanity each spring; their campus is a storm shelter; they make blankets for children in need; provide meals to their parishioners who are undergoing sickness of a death in the family; accept medical equipment donations and used eye glasses donations; and the cook and distribute food to the homeless via the Salvation Army Mobile Food Truck. They even have a cafe on site! In person worship is at 9:00 and 10:30 with the 10:30 service livestreamed on FB and YouTube.

I attended an event in the parking lot of the church today to support a friend…read more Well, come to find out these poor vendors who paid to be here, mind you, we're turned away from being able to use the restroom. Instead, two men were placed at the front doors to be sure to deny entry to anyone who dared enter. We were told this was due to security reasons. But, that could have been avoided simply by having a list of those registered for the event (again, they paid to be here). I was shocked. To be turned away by a church is unheard of. If this is how they treat paying guests, imagine how they treat others.

After moving to the Huntsville area, I drove by this church several times before deciding to try it…read moreout. I dropped in and from my very first visit, I knew I'd found a church home. I had 4 different people greet me after I'd found my seat, ask my name, and introduce themselves - all in a no-pressure kind of way. The church is small enough that you learn people's names, build relationships, and don't feel lost in the crowd, but large enough that you don't feel like you're being intimidated or judged. There's probably roughly 200 attendees at any given service. There are ministries and small groups for all, ranging from nursery, pre-k, and kids all the way up to youth, college and career, and adult groups. Currently due to COVID, the church has worship services in person at 9:30am and 11am on Sundays, and a live stream is available through the Facebook page for the 9:30am service. The people I've interacted with are genuine, the worship is fantastic, and the leadership and preaching is wonderful as well. The church's beliefs are centered on the Bible, and abides by a "glorify, grow and go" mission. I've made countless friends and people that I call family by dropping by here on a whim a few years ago.

It made me very uncomfortable and I felt like it was directed at me almost. Also they teach a heretical doctrine known as once saved always saved. The same Sunday school teacher said once you're saved, you'll never lose your salvation REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU DO. That is an abominable heresy to say the very least. I have a feeling women are also not allowed jewelry or makeup or even hair cutting. I'm very conservative and Bible based but these people are just really really weird and bizarre. With new people moving to Huntsville looking for a church, be warned. This place gave me the creeps. My skin crawls just thinking about it. You will be expected to be at service rain, shine, black ice, tornadoes. They even brag about it. This church is their salvation. This church is not for the weak of heart. Very bizarre place.
