He was happy to share geographical and historical knowledge of the area. I caught lots of fish and learned a ton about why we were catching fish. They are both super personable, have hilarious stories, and gave awesome advice for the rest of our trip. Anybody (young or old) would feel comfortable & get along well with them. They were so patient when teaching me, meanwhile giving my boyfriend some space to do his own thing! We caught plenty of fish, primarily haddock, which we ended up taking home with us. Captain Pete is a seasoned, safety-conscious professional with a fun, entertaining personality. His boat "Teazer" is immaculate and equipped to the hilt. Stormy weather was forecasted for our scheduled shark fishing trip, which would've taken us 25 miles offshore. With an 11 year old aboard, there were concerns about discomfort and sea-sickness. Captain Pete was very flexible, and instead of taking us off shore, brought us to an area where we fished for groundfish. With the fishing slow, we picked up and steamed to another area to try it out. When Captain Pete realized that all 5 of us were handling the rough conditions quite well, he offered to take us out to the old lightship area to fish for sharks as well as groundfish. This would take us further offshore, but not all the way out to the regular sharking grounds. We continued catching groundfish, and also successfully brought in a nice blue shark before heading back in at the end of the day. The mate, Alex, was also outstanding. He was a very knowledgeable, friendly gentleman who kept all of the gear and bait in order so we could continue fishing throughout the day. He didn't stop working! We all plan on making this an annual tradition, and look forward to heading back out with Teazer again next summer.

We even confirmed the reservation just yesterday. We're staying at Spruce Point Inn and literally saw the boat leave this morning -- with a different group. We were told it was due to a new scheduling system, and that the other group's trip had been canceled the day before. But it's incredibly frustrating and hard to accept that our private charter, which had been booked far in advance, was the one that got bumped last minute. There was no meaningful apology. Just an offer to rebook us for tomorrow (when the weather looks terrible) or refund us. No real effort to make things right. This was supposed to be a highlight of our trip -- instead, it left us scrambling and disappointed on a very important and personal day. Totally unacceptable. I would not recommend trusting this company with your plans, especially if you're celebrating something meaningful.

Great experience, good, safe service. The picnic boat is beautiful, comfy seating. We had 8 women which we fit comfortably, you could fit up to 12 people, but I'd imagine if it's all average sized adults, that could be a little too snug. Huckleberry, our boat dog, was an added plus and possibly the most gentle pup. Would do this experience again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend doing private if possible.

Every time we're here staying in Ocean Point, we make a point to visit Tidal Transit Kayak Company…read morefor a guaranteed great time on the water. The past two times we've been here, we've done their guided wildlife kayak tour which includes a stop on Ram Island with snacks. This summer, given the COVID issues, they are unable to offer any guided tours but you can go down to their dock and rent stand up paddle boards or kayaks (single or double) and they will provide you with waterproof maps of the harbor so you can paddle to various locations and explore on your own. They also provided us with waterproof sacks and life vests. It was all first come first serve (I couldn't reserve the kayaks ahead of time) but they have so many it's not an issue. They said they do have more demand for paddle boards from time to time. We rented three double kayaks and wore our masks, as did the staff, until we shoved off the dock. We did the recommended kayak path to Burnt Island and walked around the island a bit before we headed back around the bay. In truth, two of our party decided to just float in the bay in their kayak and didn't paddle anywhere. All in all it was a wonderful and different way to experience the bay by kayak than the guided tours and at the end, they gave each of our teenagers/young adults a Tidal Transit Kayak sticker for their water bottles/laptops. I tried to pay for them but they gave them to us for free - and we will gladly advertise their company for them!
