After waiting more than 30 minutes to get our take-out order this is more than Not worth the wait!!! We arrive home without the coleslaw instead have 4oz tartar sauce in which was Horrible!!! It was mostly oil. Funky taste to boot. We ended up having 2 containers that we threw away. They left out the sweet and sour sauce after requesting it. The guy that was "customer service" got smart and was about screaming about our number instead of just asking what the number was in which we didn't have due to it being take out. I agree with Larry M. I ordered online. They said food would be ready in 10 minutes. I got there at the time and still had to wait over 30 minutes. I could have baked a potato and fish in that length of time without having to go out in the cold. Food was ok, but the people there could not possibly keep up with the demand. I won't be going back. If I hadn't paid online, I would not have waited. I was ready to leave anyway. read more

A place where the delicious food actually looks like the pictures on the menu! 3.5 stars. They've gotten better since opening and it's one of the cleaner restaurants in town. It's always a little more expensive than I expect, but it's not frozen burgers either. I've been treated well consistently there, before and during the pandemic. I love to get a big bag full of food and take it home to eat in front of the TV almost as much a I enjoy sitting down with access to unlimited condiments and lemons. The menu isn't expansive and they stick to the things they do well. read more

Order #0175/01 May 2025/1836 Hours///Never received my order (meal) at the cost of $13.45. Only received a small cup for drink. Enter the dining area, soda machine had fluids all over the counter. Attempted to select a table to wait for my order and most of sitting area had soda stains or crumbs on most of the tables. Trash on one table completely covered from eaten food and plates. While waiting for my order two customers stated that they had to send back their meal because it was under cook or wrong item ordered. I waited for twenty minutes, and I went to the counter to see where my order was. As I stood there at the counter, workers walk back and forth not paying attention to the customers at their counter. Service was totally lacking, eating area very dirty, and workers not focus to their job responsibilities. I left and never received my order! I have lost faith at this Captain D'S location and shall seek elsewhere. read more

I had been discouraged to try a fast food seafood restaurant after so many bad experiences with another chain. But I finally did and I sure enjoyed this inexpensive meal. I had the 'grilled whitefish and shrimp'. The fish fillet was perfected grilled and seasoned. A big portion, one half pound or better. The shrimp were tasty, the coleslaw was excellent and the baked potato with real sour cream was a real treat after subsisting on french fries! I shall return. read more

The food quality was terrible! I tried calling the store at 7:30pm after receiving my food from grub hub but continuously a busy signal. I guess there is a reason they don't want to answer their phones. We went to this restaurant Saturday Jan 6th around 6:00-7:00. I ordered on the app. We walked in and heard teens working and talking. It took a few minutes for a young lady to wait on us. No one was at the front register when we walked in. We received the food. We were missing hush puppies in one meal. My husband tried to get someone's attention. It was quiet. No one was around in the kitchen or front register. So he gave up trying to get them. The fish tasted bad. It didn't taste like it normally does. We ate inside and the whole time except a couple of minutes, no workers were working where we could see or hear. The only time we saw them was when we came inside and when a car came through the drive thru. When we left, no one was around at all. Anything could've happened. And usually there is music playing. It was eerily quiet. A positive is the dining area was clean. We were the only ones eating there though. I doubt we will come back to this restaurant. The food was terrible this time and missing item. Just a very bad experience. read more

Yesterday I went to the Captain D's at 1531 E Jackson Blvd in Jonesborough, TN 37659 (423) 913-1331. I ordered the Catfish Feast at the drive thru window and went home to eat. They shorted me a piece of fish and a hushpuppy (which I think are more like Tater Tots than real hushpuppies). Normally I wouldn't take the trouble of complaining but I've had other issues at this location in the past. Once I had a discount off coupon and the woman tried to charge me full price. Just left the Captain D's in Jonesborough Tn and was very disappointed in their service. We went inside to order so there wouldn't be any errors. The lady that waited on us was some kind of manager. She was taking my order and trying to take one through the drive thru at the same time. Needless to say she messed up the order we told them that we ordered the southern style fish because there is less breading and not the chicken tenders. The guy bagging our order said they ordered the fish so they gave us fish but when we got home it was the regular fish. Needless to say I had a side salad for supper because I couldn't eat the fish. I believe they need to worry about one customer at a time then maybe there would be less screw ups. read more

I went to Captain D's in Jonesborough, TN last night and had the WORST experience ever. I waited in the drive-thru line for 20 minutes. I parked my car and decided to go in, no line inside. After I placed my order, and paid, I waited and waited and waited for 30 more minutes while food was going out the drive-thru and into the dining room. While waiting for my to-go order, I was watching the 1 crew member fix all the plates/to-go items, while the other 4 were standing around talking. The 1 crew member was as slow as molasses and did not get in any kind of a hurry. I requested my order be cancelled and my money back. I will never eat at this Captain D's again. Ordered at drive through, couldn't hear the server, finally got my order placed, get to the window, asked about an item I had ordered and was assured it was in my bag, pulled around and double checked my order and it was not right, went in with my order and was treated very poorly because they messed up. WoW! Had never been to a Captain D's before but went for a quick, fast-food lunch on the recommendation of several people. Traveling, on vacation, we stopped at this restaurant in Joneborough, TN. I'm a vegetarian who eats seafood - no meats. Having only eaten at a Long John Silvers fast food seafood restaurant 15-20 years ago and vowing to never go back, I was skeptical of Captain D's. But I was pleasantly surprised: This restaurant was immaculately clean, expertly staffed, & efficiently operated The 4 of us had variations of the white fish specials - not battered - but 'southern-style,' sides of fries, baked potatoes, slaw, hush puppies, and green beans (seasoned with pork and tasty, one of our group said). Fish was moist, crunchy, cooked perfectly and quickly served. Since Alaskan salmon cakes had been advertised, we purchased one to 'test.' Would certainly dine there again, but WOULD NOT buy the salmon cakes again - it was strong, fishy tasting, and oily. The fish dinners were $4.99 each and an excellent value. I suspect Captain D's restaurants vary from franchise to franchise, but this one in East Tennessee is tops as a fast, seafood restaurant. read more
