I took my 2001 Boston Whaler to Granola Boat Care both because I live a few blocks away and know…read morethe business, and because I know Brandy's reputation for superb fiberglass and paint work. I got the boat back last week and I keep going out to look at Brandy's gorgeous workmanship. The Whaler had been left uncovered for a couple of decades in south Florida by the previous owner. The side deck gelcoat was riddled with spider cracks, and there was some other damage as well. Brandy ground the decks down and built them back up, faired them and finished them, and did all the interior decks and furnishings as well (center console, bench seats, etc.) to match the side decks. She redid all the nonskid to factory-level standards, but suggested I use a different, more secure approach to creating the nonskid surfaces. It turned out beautifully, and functions better than the original. I have been leaving the cover off just so I can keep looking at the boat. I didn't have the hull above the waterline done, but I intend to, because that will be like putting a beautiful ribbon on the work that is already done. Regarding the other review, I don't know the boat or the owner, but I discount what that person says. I've owned trawlers and had extensive work done on those boats, including the substantial rebuilding of foredeck structures that had softened. I know how the work is done and what it costs, and I spent part of my youth doing paid fiberglass work on boats. I'm not new to either boating or to boat maintenance. His numbers for work on a Marine Trader are an order of magnitude out of scale. I can't understand how he got those numbers, but I completely distrust them, and, as I said, I discount the review completely. I walk by Brandy's shop nearly every day, and I see the intensity and quality of her work day in and day out. That's why I took the Whaler to her, and that's why I will take any other of my boats needing work to her as well. That's my recommendation to anyone else seeking glass work in this area.

Stay far away from Brandy Glaettli's business and services Granola Boat Care …read more I left the boat in her care and hired her to do a job she said she could do (replace the core and fiberglass on my boat's deck). She totaled my 51' antique Marine Trader, Island Trader Center Cockpit ketch (rare) sailboat. Quotes for repairs of the damages ranging from $200k to $500k+ in damages. The job was supposed to take 4 weeks, per her invoice, 2 in wet slip at Sicipio Creek Marina, and then 2 more weeks at dry dock at Hayes Marine. All planned by Brandy After 4 weeks at Sicipio Creek Marina, the dry dock was ready for me. I came down to florida to move the boat to find nothing had been done on the boat. Brandy then told me that she wasn't able to do any work over that month since it was parked by the restaurant (where she told me to leave it...and the only place it could fit at Sicipio with its full keel's draft) and she can't do fiberglassing work in front of "paying customers". Okay........ so i moved to the Hayes marine dry dock. After more than three months, and attempts to increase the scope of work beyond what i requested, nothing was completed, and only 1/3 of the deck had been started and everyone i have gotten quotes from for repairs, including the dry dock owner, tells me that the work that was done was done wrong. Not hard to see based on the two asymmetric plywood joint ridges down the middle of the aft deck now. I discovered from the dry dock owner that not only was there fiberglass slop all over the inside of my cockpit and inside the salon and galley, she ended up letting the boat flood so much that water came up through the sole of the interior of the boat, ruining the all teak interior of the boat. To add insult to injury, apparently on day one she inflated my life raft by pulling the cord, damaging my stanchions and nearly getting herself knocked off the deck of the boat to fall 16' to the ground. Not a word about it to me. Apparently they stabbed the liferaft and left it in the grass, dirt, and sun to rot. I had to discover all this from the dry dock owner who was surprised to learn I wasn't told about any of this. They caused other damages too, one of the most depressing is they cracked a chunk off the perfect teak railings around the mizzen mast (see photos) I "ran" down to florida (from DC area) to try and mitigate damages to find the entire boat now filled with mold growing on the walls and ceiling and everything inside the boat due to Brandy / Granola Boat Care not having removed all the soaked cushions/blankets from the boat, letting them sit in the boat in the hot florida sun for weeks/months. My State Farm agent helped me to navigate this issue and we filed an insurance claim with Brandy/Granola's insurance company: Granada Insurance (All Insurance Agency, Inc). Granada's Insurance agent Anthony, was super rude the first couple of times I and my agent talked to him both together and separately. Then they sent out an adjuster who took months to get to my boat, telling me "tomorrow" or "next week" like 30 times before actually making it to the boat (two hurricanes/trop storms hit my boat in the mean time). Then the adjuster said he needed a recorded statement from me to complete the claim and send to Granada, only to never contact me despite my numerous and repeated attempts to get him to contact me for that purpose. Now months have gone by, my State Farm agent and myself can't get anyone at Granada Insurance (All Insurance Agency, Inc) to return our calls or emails. I've had to file multiple complaints with Florida Department of Financial Services Granada / All Insurance Agency, Inc for help. I just received word back from Florida Department of Financial Services and they tell me: "The insurance company [Granada insurance / All Insurance Agency, Inc] indicates the claim investigation is ongoing. Granada states liability has not been accepted and may deny coverage due to lack of cooperation from insured [Brandy/ Granola Boat Care] . If the claim is denied, you may contact your own insurance company for repairs or seek legal action against the "at-fault" party." So basically, because of the continued behavior of negligence and failure to properly communicate by Brandy/ Granola Boat Care (which is what originally caused this mess) Granada / All Insurance Agency, Inc, Brandy/GranolaBoat's insurance company, will not do their job either..... leaving me (and my insurance company) holding the bag through no fault of my own. Great. Run far away from this place. They will destroy your property, not tell you about it, and then when you do find out, their insurance company will not make good on making things right for you. My beautiful antique boat destroyed in the City of Apalachicola.

2/21/22 Stopped in on 2/11/22 with a couple of bent prop…read moreblades. Had Robert and Tim pull the boat and set up to send the prop 40 miles away to the prop shop. I asked Robert to give me a best guess estimate of what it would cost to have my prop done. He said 700.00 to pull the boat, 400-500 to do the prop and 100 to clean the bottom. About 1200-1400 total. When I came to pick up the boat, the bill was 2730.00. But what was really odd is the way they acted. They told my wife the only way they would release the boat was to walk to town and go to an atm. They would not take any form of credit card or make any adjustment to the bill which was double their estimate. At every turn they acted oddly and couldn't even find our key and indicated that the flashlight on the key ring had to be resealed. Basically at every turn, acted like this wasn't their first rodeo. Taking advantage of someone. Our plan is to contact the city and the better business bureau with an extremely detail report of how we were definitely taken advantage of. This is the first bad review or report of this type that I've ever written. The only reason I'm taking the time time to do it in this case is because of just how obvious and intentional the inappropriate actions were in this case. Easy to see that these folks knew exactly what the plan was, had been there and done that. It's so easy to smell a rat and rats these folks were. They only wanted cash and didn't want any chance that we could hold them to their word.

I had the pleasure of doing 4 SCUBA dives with Daly's Dock and Dive Center in Port Saint Joe…read morerecently as part of an underwater archaeology training course. From the moment I walked in the shop, I was impressed. Ann Marie was the first to greet our group, and she was so friendly and helpful. She and her husband Ed are clearly passionate about providing exemplary service. Their selection of merchandise is great, and they had an excellent sale on wetsuits that I couldn't resist. There are beautiful kitties in the shop, and the owners work tirelessly to save feral cats and to get them fixed and vaccinated to help reduce the population of unwanted cats in this rural county. I truly admire their compassionate hearts! I am also a SCUBA diving instructor, and I'm always looking for great shops like Daly's. The owners and crew went above and beyond to make sure our experience was stellar. Daly's is also very safe...we waited for a storm to clear before doing the afternoon dives. Setting up gear is a bit different here...you set up in the back parking lot before loading on the boat, then you walk across the street to meet the boat. Though everyone there was excellent, we mainly interacted with Gabbi and Michelle who we absolutely loved! Michelle is a great boat captain and put us right on the Vamar. Due to our large group, they contracted with another boat captain named Mike who was very experienced and kind. I had left a sea urchin shell on his boat, and he took the time to come back to the shop to return it to me. Also, I get cold easily, and between dives, Ann Marie brought us awesome boat coats we borrowed to keep warm! Customer service could not have been better. I had not been to Port Saint Joe in several years, and I was blown away at what a hip, trendy town it has become. There are many wonderful restaurants and attractions (including the lighthouse) within walking distance of the dive shop. Our group took full advantage of the prime location and dined, shopped, and did some sightseeing after our excellent experience with Daly's Dock and Dive Center. I highly recommend this shop and will definitely return!
