Once on the island I also followed up. There was no response from them and they never contacted us for the charter. It's a shame too because we have gone with them several times before. We had an excellent week as far as weather goes, but disappointed that we didn't get to fish. Go with someone else so that you'll get to go. If you don't have a backup plan, everything will be booked by the time your week comes around.

There is a lot of wildlife and water to explore and enjoy and the folks at Journeys of St. George Island have always been extraordinarily helpful as we've tried to do that. We've rented kayaks from them, bought gear, asked questions and just enjoyed kind of hanging out with them around the island and in Apalach. They have a very laid back vibe and attitude but are super-serious about listening to what you want or are trying to do and then meeting your needs. They've gone WAY out of their way to make our vacations fun and I can't say that enough (I have MS and they've been incredibly cool and kind helping me get the equipment/modifications I need to stay active). We did see an alligator, but the views and the history shared by Captain Cook were worth the tour even if we didn't see any wildlife. My husband and I recommend the airboat tour and plan to make it an annual tradition. Captain Cook makes the tour fun but the swamp views are worth the trip even if the alligators are hiding. Called on a Friday hoping for a Saturday cruise and Captain was able to put it together! Short notice but wow (!) he pulled it off! We met at the marina, climbed on board and off we went. The weather was perfect, our 3 year old granddaughter took a shine to Captain Jeremy right away and even went "up top" to sit with him while he steered! Jeremy was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and he got us to where we needed to be for a fabulous sunset. If you're in the area, give Captain Jeremy a call and see if he has an opening. He does fishing trips, afternoon cruises and sunset cruises. Check him out, you'll love it!
