However when we arrived we were the only ones there. Although friendly, it wasn't above and beyond. It would be good to see how they fare when the restaurant was a little busier. Will definitely return to try the full menu and for more sangria. They only serve meals from 11:30 to 2pm monday to friday, so it's a real suits-having-a-pub-lunch kinda place. They hire the upstairs and downstairs spaces out for functions, which is their main weekend business, I'm not sure that they even open to the public on the weekend? Function prices are mid-range, but keep in mind that they don't have an outdoors area, so perhaps not an appropriate venue for smokers. Wine list is quite small and everything seems to hover around the $30 - $45 mark (they are a little overpriced, but hey - what city pub isn't a little inflated) A couple of special bottles on - oldschool favourite Rockford's Basket Press Shiraz and of course perennially popular with the ladies Rockford's Alicante Bouchet.

It screams "don't eat me as I am masquerading as freshly cooked, but in fact was frozen until 5-10 minutes before landing in your plate." The 'warm chicken salad' came with, you guessed it, "pregrilled marks" (ugh!) and the rest of the salad wasn't much better. It was a sad, sad affair - one puny tomato cut in quarters, the faintest hint of avocado, and mixed greens that could not be managed with the dull butter knife provided. It was wholly inadequate in every way: too small to share, bland, and lacking any flavour except that from the dressing. Worst of all is I feel fleeced after paying $18.9 for this; I and walked away so terribly disappointed. The main entree, chicken marylands ($23.9) was another total ripoff. It was advertised as being stuffed with a herb feta risotto dressing; it seemed to have been forgotten/was nonexistent. The two leg/thigh portions were quite small, but moist and the accompanying rose sauce was just meh! The best part of the meal was the beautifully grilled capsicum, eggplant, zucchini, and carrots. Again a waste of money as it was unremarkable in every way. I really wanted to like this cafe but the service was slow, the food portions below average, and the meal unsatisfying. Do yourself a favor and skip the food. Instead go here for a cuppa and dessert (though I cannot vouch for either of those).
