There's a short walk circumnavigating the park and small gift shop with interactive learning display and interesting movie. Wonderful vistas of the lagoon with birds and butterflies about. Might could spot a dolphin or manatee. Makes for a peaceful respite and is also a great place for pictures. Fun Florida on a tankful sort of thing to do. Our indigenous people wintered here for thousands of years before their decimation as evidenced by the large Indian mounds or middens they left behind. The mounds are dumps of the accumulation of years and years of harvesting efforts from along the shore. Shells, broken bits and baubles, tools, etc. Most of them have been plundered for road and rail construction but this one remains, saved by the pioneer family who built their home atop it.

A whole bunch…read moreof clams The Seminole Rest Trail is an archaeological site that consist of several huge mounds of shells left over by the Timucuan and Ais tribes. The dates vary but the site was used and was occupied from at least 2,000 BC until about 1550, when the Europeans brought diseases and other bad stuff that decimated the tribes. The largest mound is call Snyder's Mound and was probably a clam processing place where the clams were shelled and dried and then moved to other places for consumption. They reasonable ask people to stay off the mounds but two very cool buildings from the last century sit on top of the mounds and help protect them. They is a roughly one half mile trail that goes around the park and gives not only cool views of the mounds and buildings but also the unfortunately named Mosquito Lagoon with it's huge aquatic birds and lovely wild flowers. The park is complete with a paved parking lot, clean bathrooms and most of the trail is wheelchair accessible. Sure, it's not the most exciting place in the world but gives a quiet glimpse of the past. A cool place for anyone interested in history, archeology of just wants a short walk in a very pleasant place.

The park is 37 acres with 5 acres right on the water and the rest of the park is within a stone's throw of the river. The park has a great boat ramp that allows access to the river and cool paths that that circle around the park for some easy hiking. A huge boardwalk extends out into the river and offers some great fishing or bird watching opportunities. The park is open 24 hours and has some of the cleanest bathrooms I have even seen in a public place. The entire area was appreciated by the native americans for centuries and lots of artifacts and huge mounds of clams, oysters and other shellfish are still being discovered. The park is definitely a cool and relaxing place to sit, walk, fish or just become one with the flow of the river.

If he is so resigned to there being NO FISH in his grounds - then he needs to stop taking peoples hard earned money to NOT catch them! Please please please- do not choose Capt. We did a very enjoyable 4hr fishing trip during our vacation this year with Cpt. Karty. Honestly,…read morethis was my first time doing a fishing charter, so I wanted to stay inland to avoid being sea sick. We met at Riverbreeze Park with (3) anglers, at 7am and hopped in the prepared boat. We instantly approached a shrimp boat and Karty bought 3 dozen live shrimp. Then we were off on a 25 minute boat ride across the beautiful mosquito bay. He knew exactly where he was going. We stopped short of our target area and slowly pushed our way in as to not scare the fish. After surveying (while fishing) the area, Karty advised that there was a school of black drum in the area and he would get us on top of them. And he did. The school was moving throughout the day and we were always on their tails. The biggest catch of the day was 24" black drum; it was the biggest fish I've ever caught in my life. His boat comfortably fit (3) anglers, (4) would not be a problem either. This was a major reason why I chose Cpt. Karty in the first place. Definitely the correct decision. We saw another charter out there with only (2) anglers and the guide; they weren't able to move around like we could. We actually fished for about 4.5 hours because in the last 45min. we caught (7) of those (8) redfish. Very nice of him, and I had a good sense of respect from him doing this for us. Catches of the day: (1) trout, (1) black drum, (2) stingray, (1) cat fish & (8) redfish. Keepers were the trout and black drum. We arrived back to the launch and Karty promptly filleted the keepers and shook our hands. What a great experience! We will spread the word and absolutely visit Karty again!

There are a number of parking spaces that barely allows the back of your vehicle to clear the traffic and once you exit you're only a few feet from the water's edge. There are a few benches next to the shore line and a small covered pavilion with a few picnic tables providing some shelter from the weather. Fortunately I meet a new friend (Steve) who seems to come here often just to relax and enjoy the view and occasionally wet a line - he did tell me it's fairly easy to snag a few fish using live bait which he catches with his cast-net. This is definitely a place I plan to return and probably a great place to get in my daily steps. Note - There are no restrooms or fresh water, it's very primitive but a real gem...
