    Coconut shrimp basket

We thought it was decent but definitely had higher expectations knowing friends and quite a few people on the internet seem obsessed with this place. Maybe we'd come back to try something else, but probably we'd just leave this joint for the locals and check out another place. What we got: Cream of crab soup - 4* the best thing of the night. It was delicious and I wish it came with a buttered piece of bread I could dip in it. Coconut shrimp basket - 3* the shrimp are very coconut-y and I realized I just didn't love that. It came with 6 pieces of shrimp, way too many fries (they were only mediocre), 2 delicious hush puppies (best I've ever had), and 1 pickle (nice crunch). The coleslaw side was also good and had apples. Overall though I was disappointed that $17 got me a pretty unsatisfying dish. Fish and chips (friend flounder) - 3* average but nothing to write home about. Once again a lot of fries (obviously, it's a fish and chips meal) but they just weren't that good. The fish was alright as well, malt vinegar and lemon didn't jazz it up as much as was expected. The pickle, coleslaw, and hush puppies were the best part of the meal.

Tried on a Thursday evening at 7:30 pm and they were too full to seat us within the time they would be open. We went again the next day for lunch and got seated immediately, so timing is certainly important. The patio is entirely screened in so no AC. Has a beach patio feel. Food was absolutely delicious, if you can get a table or reservation perhaps, it's worth it

The BEST oysters I've ever had and wonderful customer service! I also got the coconut shrimp which was perfect paired with their Thai sauce.

My daughter and mom were craving some seafood, so we called in an order here. If you order over $50 of food you will have to pay by phone. Otherwise you can pay at the restaurant. They were busy at the time so it was a 30-45 minute wait, but the person who took our order offered to call when it was ready. Which was nice!! We got a cheese pizza, crab soup, crab legs, and a cod sandwich with chips . The pizza was very chef boyardee basic as far as the sauce. It's not flavorful, but it was only $11 and a good size. The kids thought it was ok. The cod looked good but was bland and chewy. If it had a little flavor/seasoning it would have been better I think. It was a good portion size though. There may be other things on the menu that may be better. They have a good selection of menu items. Check them out!!

Freshly fried goodness for every meal! Loved their fried clams and coconut shrimp and hush puppies! All of our guests loved their meal. Pro tip: Since it can get really packed, we decided to eat an early dinner around 3 PM so we could snag a seat! Yum!

Incredible food. Incredible service. Fantastic prices. Get the Bloody Mary with ALL the seafood.

Blackened mahi-mahi with steamed broccoli and onion rings.

Possibly one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. It was cooked just right and the seasoning was perfect. The portions were large and honestly one platter could be shared. The service was decent but you could tell they were busy. We did have an hour and a half wait but it was definitely worth it. Overall good vibes and great atmosphere.

After doing a bit of research, we landed on Captain Zack's for a Friday night before the oyster fest. We found the bartenders to be sociable the crowd to be friendly and I will tell you that the softshell crabs were off the hook. Good beer, and good pours. Met some friends there they were also going to the oyster Fest and frankly everybody in the bar talked to anybody else -- it was like hanging out at your local Tappy. So good food and good drinks with a friendly atmosphere and good service.

Such a cute spot. So many delicious items on the menu but we landed on the clam chowder, coconut shrimp, fish & chips basket and the clams strips platter with corn and broccoli. Did not expect an entire head of broccoli but was cooked perfectly. Staff was super attentive. A nice drink menu to accompany the food. Everything was cooked to perfection. Would definitely return.

Wow, the customer service is phenomenal here! The food is delicious and the waitress was very attentive. Great place for a family meal!

Blackened flounder fish tacos were excellent. Husband's smash burger was over-cooked, but ok. Cool, beachy atmosphere and we ate at the bar with no waiting. We'd definitely go back and try the snow crab legs, they looked delicious.

We were told 1-1 1/2 hour wait on a Saturday evening but they called us soon than an hour. We were glad they did. It's a very casual ambiance and not the fanciest looking of seafood restaurants on the island but the food was delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they got.

Outstanding! This was recommended to us and boy did she hit it out of the park! Staff is super friendly, everyone here inside and outside are having a good time, it's not too loud and it's easy going. The food was spectacular! I had the Fish (cod) & chips. They are in these perfect rectangular blocks instead of giant slabs, so they're perfect for dipping in tartar and they were lightly battered, not too crispy and not too soft either, packed full of flavor along with the fries and his puppies, also well fried. The drinks were a Marsh Mud Slide and a Mermaid Lemonade, very well made. The bartender came back and added a mermaid to my wife's glass, that was cool of her. The Chincoteague Salty Oyster platter was amazing. The onion rings again were battered well and fried not too hard or soft, the oysters were the same. No cut corners here, generous portions and well made food for a good price. Check Capt Zack's out!

Oysters. Everything I mean everything is in 1 time use plastics.

Another outstanding experience at Ray Shanty's for our anniversary…read more Great atmosphere- phenomenal food and service was awesome. We had stuffed jumbo shrimp and prime rib!

Instead, one of the three teenagers running the hostess stand, yelled out, "How many?!" After the second time, we realized she was shouting at us from across the room. When I told her "Four," she responded, "Four?!" Yes. God. Also, FTR: If you have a child who has allergies or is picky as all get and you want to bring him a sandwich to eat at the table with you so that you and your family can enjoy something other than pizza, don't come here. We looked at the kids' menu and there was nothing our son wanted so, we put our order in-- spent over $100. I went out to our car (we are traveling so we had stuff for PB+J). I grabbed him a bag of chips and a milk box and went back inside. He ate about halfway through his sandwich, and our server came to the table and said that the owner told her that we couldn't bring food in the restaurant because it was a health code violation (which it isn't-- we looked it up). Just pettiness that we brought food instead of buying a kids' meal while they had a full restaurant of people giving them business-- not suffering there that they need to be *that* kind of weird about missing out on the sale of a kids' meal to a family spending over $100. My husband ended up taking him outside to sit on a bench and finish his food while we waited for them inside. So much for eating together as a family. I will admit that, after going outside to check on my husband and son, I noticed a sign on the door that said "No Outside Food or Drinks." If it hadn't been there, I might have said something. Cherry on top was, soon after we were told we couldn't bring our son food inside, we noticed a young child wandering in and out of the kitchen. Not sure where he came from but it didn't seem in line with their commitment to their "health code." Definitely didn't look safe. No one stopped this kid even though they saw him. Okay, about the food-- it was mediocre, at best. Hush puppies were supposed to famous good, but they were average. A bit too sweet for our liking, but improved with a smear of butter. Crab dip was tasty but very heavy with a lot of cheese. Would actually be nice if it was served with thin tortilla chips instead of pita. Crab cakes were good, but nothing exceptional. Had a decent flavor and a light batter. Minimal filler and could taste that they were made with fresh crab. Clam chowder tasted like canned vegetable soup with just a few of the tiniest, almost indistinguishable, pieces of rubbery clam inside. We also got a dozen steamed oysters. These were okay, but many of the oysters had shell broken and bits of shell that we had to pick out of the oysters. Should say, my son got water to drink and the water tasted really off. My husband tried it and agreed that it had an off-putting metallic-y taste. Honestly, the ordeal with us bringing in food for our son and having to interrupt our family meal to take him outside to eat, put a bad taste in our mouth and made it hard to enjoy our meal. Didn't help that the owner was floating around and avoiding us as if we were being shunned for our "terrible" behavior. Silliness. Best thing about our experience was our server, Vicki, who was very sweet and attentive. If you come here without the audacity to bring food for your picky kid with allergies, ask for Vicki to take care of you, and order the fried crab cakes.
