A great way to spend an hour - Charlotte's Attic is perfect for two people. The puzzles are challenging, but logical and not overly frustrating, and unlimited hints are available in case you get stuck in a room or two. The escape room isn't one of the newer, high-tech versions, but it's fun nonetheless and with a great theme throughout. read more

The room was disappointing. For the money spent it was very few puzzles. They made it out to sound so scary but is was stupid. We feel we would have been better off spending that money elsewhere. The staff were very nice! read more

I showed up with a party of 2 escape room veterans in their mid twenties. We successfully completed both escape rooms we booked, which were the murder mystery and Pieces of Eight. - The location is a bit difficult to find. It shares a building with the Circle K gas station. Walk around the block until you find a tinted black door with CAPTIVE written down the side. The stairs on the left will lead you to the lobby. - Despite the somewhat shady locale, the lobby is well decorated. - These rooms don't have intercoms, so if you need the game master he actually comes in. - You receive unlimited hints. I would prefer there be a limited amount of clues to make the experience more challenging. - I wish there was a way to see your remaining time. You have to ask the game master to tell you. - The rooms stayed true to their theme and some of the puzzles were pretty clever. - Our rooms felt too linear. There was only one thing to do at a time, so I feel that parties with more than 2 people are going to have idle participants. Overall, the rooms where well designed and atmospheric. I would recommend Captive specifically for pairs. Parties larger than that I think will have too many idle participants. read more

Okay, I think we've been had... was my first thought. We bought our tickets online, and an empty store front with their name on it greeted us out front. You have to go around the corner and the real entrance leads to stairs going to the escape rooms. The young man and woman working there were very nice and let us in a little earlier than our reservation. We did the pieces of eight room. The escape room was dimly lit so we had to use our phones for light. The clues were good - they led from one clue to the next and weren't too easy and they weren't too hard. An hour is the right amount of time that's allowed. The best part is that each group gets their own room - we didn't need to be added to another group. Overall, I really enjoyed my first escape room, and I recommend Captive Escape Rooms. read more

We reserved a time slot for Charlottes attic for two. It was so much fun!!! October the host was extremely friendly and didn't mind giving us a hint when we were stumped. We can't wait to go back and try the other rooms. The aesthetics of Captive are very on theme, it's an experience for the whole family. A little pricey but the game is worth the experience! Definitely a must when visiting Myrtle Beach Also, if you're not an escape room pro... make sure to put enough time on your parking meter (2hr) lol! Wow. Went in with no preconceived notions, having read no reviews with no idea what all this "escape room" business was all about. I figured probably something simple and dumbed down for the weed & tiktok drooling masses but I was very wrong. I did the "13 doors" an " intermediate" challenge and BOY OH BOY WAS IT FUN! Pretty unique & challenging- there was just me and my boy and it took us almost an hour and a half and we had to ask for help from the staff twice but they threw us a bone so we eventually "escaped" but JEEZE LOUISE it was tough. We visited Captive Escape Rooms while on a summer stay in Myrtle Beach in July... We were able to easily book our selected room online. The plots of each room were outlined online - without giving too much information away, just enough to draw your attention in. The rest of the background information for the room was given by the host once you arrived - which was a lot more than online... and awesome. We chose the "Charlotte" room. Very spooky! We arrived and were greeted by our host who reviewed the rules first, then the background of the room, and into the room we went. Our team of three (all booking are just your group - AWESOME) worked our way through the clues and through the multiple rooms (4) and were able to make it out. In addition to the making it through the rooms, there were certain "tasks" to solve. This was an added bonus. With multiple choices at the beach - This was a great pick!! read more

I went here with 3 other people. They give you an hour to finish the room, and there are several room options. We did the one based on Dracula's library. It was totally fun, we finished with 30 seconds left on the clock, so it is also totally do-able. I think the "clues" she gave us weren't that great, and really she just confused us more than anything, but overall the experience was great! read more

My girlfriend and I just completed charlotte's attic room. It was AWESOME! It was challenging but not overwhelming. The entire atmosphere from the moment you go is very engaging. Anna was fantastic. She gave us a breakdown of what to expect before starting and was incredibly helpful when we got stuck, but careful not to give away too much. I highly recommend this for a date night or large group.
