    Route 66 Extended Warranty

I write this review with mixed feelings. Having worked in credit unions for years, I have sold…read moreplenty of Route 66 Warranty products. One reason I felt comfortable recommending the product was because I had purchased it myself. The first time I purchased a Route 66 warranty, my vehicle ended up being a total loss not long afterward. I was impressed because they fully refunded the cost of the warranty with no issues. So, after the factory warranty expired on my new vehicle, I didn't hesitate to purchase another Route 66 extended warranty -- a 7-year/75,000-mile plan. Not long after my manufacturer's warranty ended, I started having one repair after another. At first, I thought, "Thank God I bought the warranty." Unfortunately, that feeling didn't last. I will take part of the blame for not reading the fine print closely enough, but here is the issue: I am only in year 3 of the 7-year warranty and nowhere near 75,000 miles, yet I was told the warranty had expired. When I called, the representative explained that the coverage actually ends once they have paid repairs up to the value of the vehicle. According to them, this information is buried in the contract "on page 2, paragraph 2" or something similar. I was furious, to say the least. I asked about the remaining years and mileage on my contract, and the representative basically told me I would need to either go elsewhere or purchase another warranty. To be fair, the warranty did help cover repairs while it lasted, so I can say it is not a bad product. However, consumers absolutely need to read the fine print carefully and understand the payout limits before purchasing. Even the representative at the dealership told me he had never heard of a warranty ending this way. Stay informed and make sure you fully understand what you are buying before you need to file a claim.

This dealership lied to this warranty company making it to where I didn't get any help for coverage. in the end after proving they lied they still sided with the company and I was out the $2000 they were happy to take from me for the warranty! Screw this company and will be reporting the the BBB.
