Derek is simply the best mechanic you will ever come across. I took my mum's car to him as she…read morebelieved it needed new belts as it was making a slight squeak - he listened and initially agreed. Then as I was about to drive off he heard the noise change and called me back. Derek then explained that as the noise changed when i put the clutch in it was actually a bearing in the gearbox that was making the noise. He knows his stuff.On another occasion he, without being asked, fixed the fuel gauge on the same car. Another garage had removed the fuel tank to clean it after dirty fuel and the gauge did not work afterwards - their solution was to reset the trip clock and judge that way when re-fueling was necessary. This would not be acceptable to Derek and if he sees something that needs fixed, he fixes it!

Was pleasantly surprised getting the battery replaced for free, as bought it here nearly 3yrs ago…read moreand luckily enough it was still under warranty (as shown on the original receipt that I kept). Thought it might of been a hassle or maybe some hidden clause in getting it replaced, but they just checked/tested the old one - that was showing up as faulty and at the end of its life, and dropped in a new one. 3mins job, done. Didn't try to sell or cost for anything else, which is a pleasant surprise when using a garage/mechanic type service.

It's located very close to the city's two main shopping centres so you can drop your vehicle and get a coffee or some shopping. My most recent visit was a new car battery. The guys here are ace workers and they are ace friendly too. It's a no frills, no nickel and dime tactics, good job, fair priced. The speed by which they can detect a problem and fix a tyre puncture or fit a new type is a sight to behold; like formula 1 pit stop fast. My local bank opens 33 hours a week but these guys provide a genuinely real service and they open nearer to 50 hours a week including bank holidays - drive-in with no appointments needed. They also will come to you for a fee but honestly I've never felt ripped off or overcharged as they are a decent bunch.
