Unfortunately my last experience was not very good at all. I requested to have the same type of facial as the first time, as well as a lash perm and lash dye. The facial was fine, but it was simple - a face wash, mask application, an application of lotion. As for my lashes, they looked exactly the same as when I arrived and they were not dyed as requested. The Cara Mia ladies have taken care of my skin and brows for years. They always go above and beyond my expectations. I love that I can always ask them to custom-blend makeup for me and that the makeup is vegan, paraben-free, and made with high quality ingredients. During the COVID-19 shutdown, the staff there is still working behind the scenes and not only taking orders for our skincare needs but also offering curbside pickup or delivery. I was able to get my custom-blend loose powder delivered to my doorstep. While I can't get my brows tamed for now, I'm looking forward to visiting again when the shop is fully open. I have been going to Cara Mia for eyelash tinting and extensions for about five years. Gillian and Ashley both do a great job. If you have long, blond eyelashes, a tint every 6 weeks can save you the bother of mascara. If your lashes are short, extensions are the answer, but you have to go every 2 to 3 weeks to replace ones that fall off. For me it's worth it to finally have eyelashes that you can see! read more

I just had one of the best facials, ever! My all-time favorite facial is called the Repechage 4 Layer Facial and I started getting them 25 years ago in Palm Springs. I had my first facial here with Gillian and it was truly an amazing experience. It's a super cute space, love the light fixtures throughout! I booked a facial because I had the most obnoxious bumps along my jawline and chin and wanted to to minimize acne. Gillian was very thorough when she looked at my skin and explained to me the bumps weren't acne. She took the time to learn about what products I've been using and concluded that I was dehydrating my skin with the glycolic acids, AHAs. It's been a week and a half and I'm only using a simple cleanser and moisturizer and my skin is greatly improved. I even received a follow up phone call to see how my skin was doing! I wanted to not only write a review about the amazing service but the products that changed my life as well. I first started to see Kezia to fix my eyebrows that were basically gone because of another waxing place in Oxnard. They were pretty bad but over time we got them back for the most part. I could go on and on about how friendly the staff is and how amazing the waxes and facials are that I received because they were AMAZING! The real reason I am writing this review is because I was a 36 year old woman who still got pimples. I was super frustrated with my skin and finally asked Kezia if she could recommend something. She started me on a start over pack for acne prone skin. Please note that my skin wasn't horrible but it wasn't pretty and I was done dealing with acne at my age. It's basically a sample size pack of a complete skin care system. I could NOT believe the results. It's their own brand of products from Cara Mia and I don't know what I would do without them. I have tried MANY expensive products over the years to try to deal with my skin. My search has ended. I moved back to Colorado and still order these products from them, that's how truly amazing they are. I often get compliments on my skin now, something that NEVER would have happened before I found these products! Go see these ladies at Cara Mia! I was a little confused where this place moved to. Susie always has done amazing peels, micro dermabrasions and eyelash extensions!! Yes she does it all , and is the only esthetician that offers all this. I went to the new location and hate it!! If it wasn't for Susie I wouldn't go back. The shopping reminded me of old lady stuff. No offense but the decor and front is cheap and awful!! What happened!!! The owner needs to get it together !! You walk in and all u see is dust and hideous purses and rhinestone clutches!! I love the staff and owner at Cara Mia! They are beyond sweet, caring, and extremely knowledgable! I've had spray tans, facials, make up done, and my eyebrows waxed, and I have been extremely pleased with everything! I can't stop getting their spray tans too! As a frequent shopper of coastal beach towns which are notorious for "dog friendly" destinations, I was extremely disappointed in Cara Mia on Main Street in Ventura. Main Street is trying hard to bring tourism to a level of other profitable beach towns, but Cara Mia is not one to assist in this endeavor. Travel to Laguna, San Diego, Ocean Beach, Newport etc. and they embrace the dog friendly shopper with open arms. Doggie bowls line the beach towns and our loving canine friends are encouraged to shop and enjoy the day. Do a Google search for "Dog Friendly Beach Towns" and those destinations pop up and are extremely lucrative. Dog owners who travel with their pets are big spenders. Ventura is not to the level of those towns yet, but easily could be. I guess being a touristy beach town my friend and I "assumed" a planned doggie day trip would be fun in Ventura. After seeing dog bowls outside of Busy Bee's Cafe, and loving support in every store we frequented along Main St., we were really bummed when we casually walked into Cara Mia. The sales girl quickly informed us dogs are not allowed in the store due to having clothing and that dogs might cause allergies if absorbed into the clothing. WHAT? Crazy. We are spenders... big spenders. Cara Mia had a lot of cute things we were interested in, but we will never know as even when we don't have our babies we will not come back. They lost potential sales in my friend and I. The vibe is not good. Generally people who shop with their dogs have well-behaved dogs or they wouldn't bring them. Open your mind to smart business practices & today's changing times. You don't have food. Shoot even FOOD places allow dogs if they have a patio. I had a bichon frise, and my friend a white standard poodle. Beautiful, hypo allergenic puppers ready to spend. Too bad Cara Mia is close minded. read more

I get my brows done here by Erika and she is fantastic. She does threading (in addition to waxing). I like threading better than waxing because it doesn't remove a layer of skin and irriate the skin, and it's also more precise. It's kind of difficult to find someone who does this technique, so I was psyched to find her! She always does a great job with shaping my brows, and is also very nice and easy to talk to. The salon also offers other services such as facials and offers customized makeup, but I have not tried them yet. read more

I came to Cara Mia Makeup about a month before my wedding to have a trial makeup session done because I had a bad experience trial makeup experience with another company. Ashley did my trial and I loved the way my makeup looked. She did my makeup on the day of my wedding and it looked even better than in the trial, she made me feel beautiful on one of the most important days of my life. In addition she did the makeup on several of bridesmaids and they were all very happy with their makeup as well. After reading through the reviews, I was excited to try their makeup. I am also getting married soon, so thought this place might also be ideal for my bridal party. However, I was extremely disappointed with my visit. Perhaps the experience is ideal only with an appointment? Because I happened to be downtown over the weekend, I decided to stop into the store. There were approximately 4-5 girls behind the counter and another young woman towards the back of the store applying makeup to a client/customer. My fiance and I looked around at the clothes, looked at the makeup, even watched the makeup application! For almost 15 minutes... we waited to be acknowledged by someone. At the very least we expected a greeting followed by, "someone will be right with you." Apparently the couple at the register needed to be assisted by all 4-5 girls behind the counter. I will acknowledge that one of them was on the phone, yet that still left several others helping what appeared to be one couple at checkout. Perhaps they cater to a younger demographic? We are a more mature couple (still young!), yet were well dressed, groomed, and fully prepared to make a purchase. That said, I am unable to comment on either their services or their products since during our visit we experienced neither. read more
