Wright's Farm in Gardiner is exactly that kind of place. Established in 1904, this beautiful family farm offers an incredible selection of fresh produce, delicious baked goods, homemade jams, honey, pickles, breads, plants, and so much more. I was especially impressed by their greenhouse operation, which includes both hydroponic and aquaponic growing systems. They grow fresh lettuce, cucumbers, and strawberries right on the property using innovative growing methods. The farm itself is beautiful, with apple and peach orchards, fields of wildflowers, and plenty of seasonal produce. There's also a great selection of perennial plants for anyone looking to add something new to their garden. And there's even a brewery right on the property, making Wright's Farm more than just a place to pick up groceries. It's a destination to explore, shop, eat, drink, and enjoy the beauty of the Hudson Valley. From the incredible selection of locally produced foods to the beautiful landscape and innovative farming practices, Wright's Farm was definitely a highlight of our visit. For real, the beets, carrots, and cucumbers were still wet from being cleaned off after being picked that morning. The melons were also freshly picked and as amazing as melons can be*. It's also conveniently located by Soon's orchard, so if you need a few (hundred) bottles of hard cider or a few donuts, you won't have to go too far. If you are in need of quite possibly the freshest veggies in the world, and want to hang out with the nicest farmer's I think I've ever met, stop on by Bialas Farms. __________ *not a huge melon guy, especially (gasp) watermelon. What a lovely place! They had tons of space and a huge variety of produce. I grabbed beets, broccoli, tomatoes, and a mix of different peppers (shishito and jalapeno). Everything was WONDERFUL! It is so fresh and lasts so much longer in our home than the same items from the grocery store. The people who work there were so kind and helpful and I would be willing to come back just to listen to them chat with everyone that comes in. Clearly they have a consistent group of shoppers. This little gem is hidden a bit off the beaten path which keeps it relatively quiet. When we left, the parking area had grown from 3 cars to 10 and there was still plenty of social distancing going on inside.

They provided a box or bag for the fruit which is all priced by the pound. There was no additional fee for the box. I picked 10 peaches, which came out to $22. On entry you purchase a $5 voucher which can be redeemed towards any purchase which I think is great. After picking peaches I enjoyed sitting on the spacious patio with an ice cream and a walk up to see the farm animals. If you're going for an animal encounter I will say these animals seemed to enjoy distance, but were still lovely.

They sell it in a half gallon and gallon portion. Soooooo good! Apples, peaches and tomatoes are also sold by the box at great pricing. Perfect for splitting up with a friend. They also had an awesome deal on their blueberries if you pick over 5 lbs which isn't too difficult to do as there trees are covered in fruit. These were some of the best blueberries I've ever had. They do have an outhouse toilet and an outdoor sink with soap of you need to use the restroom. There is no fee to park. And they also sell already picked fruit of you prefer not to pick your own.

As I stand here in mid July the tractors are busy in the fields, which are lush with crops. If I didn't know I was in New York State I could believe that I was in the farm belt in the Midwest. It's absolutely beautiful around here. I can hardly wait for the tomato crop. Many of the farmstands in the area get their produce from here. By the way, they sell the corn for $.50 an ear.

There's a hay bale ride constantly cycling through the farm so you can hop on and off whenever you want, but the orchard is pretty walkable as well. Overall, the apples were sweet and the farm made it a fun and easy experience though I wish they also provided sticks for reaching apples higher up in trees. The corn maze was pretty fun and they have a few sheep to pet. They have several food options including vegan selections and their hard cider was pretty good.
