Dr. Doug Mindlins are both incredibly patient, gentle, caring, and thorough veterinarians. Over the years, they've helped our cats through eye infections, cyst growth, heart murmurs, parasites, and more, and we always felt our cats were in very good hands. The pricing has also always felt very fair no hidden fee, and before any more expensive tests, they always took the time to explain and ask first, which we really appreciated. The vet assistants are also absolutely amazing and so kind, and the front desk staff are always warm, friendly, and super quick when we need receipts or SOAP notes. Overall, we've had such a wonderful experience here. We're honestly really sad that after leaving Fort Lauderdale, we won't be able to keep coming here and seeing everyone anymore. However, if you're a pet owner you likely know that in past few years, many independent veterinary office have been bought out by a conglomerate. (The same thing has happened with funeral homes if you've had the misfortune to have to handle anything like that lately). Anyway, my much beloved vet sold his practice and decided to retire. I decided if I was going to start over with a new vet, I was going to find a still independent vet with extra personal service. My dog was having serious arthritis issues so I did what any responsible dog owner does and I hired a dog masseuse! Yes, they exist, and mine came to my house! In an effort to give my dog every advantage I asked what else I could do? The masseuse suggested acupuncture along with Adequan injections. The search began for a vet that practices animal acupuncture and that's how I found Dr. Niedermiller. When I go into the office, it's feels like an old fashioned vets office. Highly personal care, we are not just a number, and we see somebody who loves animals. She's the only vet, it's not a staff of 10 vets where you don't know who you'll see. We visited for our cats annual checkup during covid and they followed all the rules. We didn't go in, a tech came and got the cat carrier and after the exam Dr. N came out to our car to discuss the results. We did the payment over the phone from the parking lot. Very happy with that. Huge plus is that she does house calls too (I told you it was old fashioned) which was really beneficial in my dog's case. It was difficult to transport a large, arthritic dog! She also gave us lessons on how to inject the arthritis medication. It's not difficult but we'd never done that kind of stuff before. I probably pass 25 other veterinarians between my house and her office but it's worth it to me. My animals are family and I need them (and me) to feel comfortable.

Roger suffered so much and was unrecognizable. He died not long after that. I had him since he was a kitten and it broke my heart to watch him suffer. My family and I have taken care of a large number of animals as well as my own personal home pets. I've been, at one point or another, to most of the veterinarians in the area. Many of us pet owners, talk on various bulletin boards and pretty much know what's going on with most of the veterinarians. We also have an idea of where not to go. And you can believe we know where to go when it really matters, which is all the time isn't it? My bottom line is simple. Needing competency is more than a basic assumption, you should make. You're leaving sometimes the most valuable member of your household in the hands of a stranger and to me, they are just like my children. I never took my kids anything but the best doctors I could find whether they charged a lot or a little they had to be the best. I think most of us know by now that the most expensive place sometimes it's the least qualified place to go go to for your health. It's the same for my furry family. They are no different than my children to me. Deerfield Pet Vet has become endeared to me through not just top-notch veterinarians like Dr. Grabowski but because the whole staff actually cares about the animal more than just some advertisement might say. These animals matter to them as well as us as the owners. Yes, I meant exactly what I just said They will do what it takes to make them comfortable as well as treat them with top-notch medical competency. Most of us know some veterinarian clinics are strictly money machines and it feels sometimes like they have their script down before they even see your pet. As well as what might be wrong with them and how much is going to cost. That's a bold statement but in my time nearly 300 animals went through my family's hands finding homes or they were my own. Just like for my family I can tell when a doctor cares about what they do as well as stays up on the latest medical information. For my most fragile little family members, my furry friends, Deerfield Pet Vet and Dr. Grabowski are one of the few places where when I walk out of there I don't have to worry about what's happening because if I was medically competent excellent veterinarian, I couldn't do anything better for my what's going to be done at this clinic for my pets. I totally mean what I'm saying when I walk out of there I know automatically I've done the best possible thing I can for my pets. None of this is coerced. This is all my legitimate experience with the animals that have come through my care, my family animals, and the multitude of veterinarians I have seen around here in my time.

He said they didn't have the notes of his previous script. Fine, so I showed him the picture of the bottle that said "Tucker (dog)". And I showed him the automated visit notes that you get emailed to a visit showing that he's on trazodone. Makes sense, right? But not for Rashad. He said by showing him this proof that my dog was in these medicines I was being extremely condescending? What am I supposed to do, accept the fact that they didn't have it? He then said we need a doctor visit with the dog. I said why? It's not like dementia gets better. He replies "sir, I'm a certified medical professional" or something? Okay? Just because he woke up in the wrong side of the bed this morning doesn't have to make it any more stressful for someone dealing with a dementia dog. I waited an hour and never complained once. Marla (I think) was extremely nice at the receptionist and so was the doctor. This guy is one of those people that seems to take everything personal I guess. I wondered how you can run a practice (and stay in business) while solely catering to cats. After our visit I understood exactly how this was possible. Dr. Hugo has so much knowledge on cats that I was genuinely impressed. For example, our cat turns into a vicious monster at the veterinarian. Not a single vet or vet tech can handle her without my help lest they get scratched. She's so difficult that you can't even get her out of her cage without tipping it over. Well Dr. Hugo was an exception. I didn't even get a chance to warn him about how vicious she was when he smoothly got her out of the cage. He handled her firmly yet with care. In fact, she was handled so well that she didn't even take a swipe at him! That was never happened before. Usually I will volunteer to help with her examination so the vet can do what he needs to without struggling with my cat. But after watching Dr. Hugo handle her expertly, I didn't even bother because I could tell that he really knew what he was doing. The rest of the visit was just as smooth. He spent a lot of time with our cat and listened intently to each issue she was having. Then he took the time to give us detailed answers to our questions and multiple possible remedies to each issue that we could implement. So you would think that such top notch service would cost an arm and a leg. Frankly I didn't think about the price and for his level of service I expected to pay a lot. However, to my surprise he was extremely affordable. His fees were on par with what you would expect to pay at a cheap veterinarian clinic. Our cat is a member of our family and we want the best care possible for her. And I do believe we have found that with Dr. Hugo. As much as I love my regular veterinarian; Dr. Hugo is on another level. If you have a cat I urge you to give this place a try.
