    Baked eggs with chorizo
    Kevin L.

You know those places that you've heard so many positive things about that you just -really- want to love because everyone else loves them? The kind of joint that everyone oozes about when it's brought up. That's Caravan in a nutshell. A local hangout that I desperately want to adore, but can't justify the praise. Perhaps its popularity has engendered a certain arrogance or ennui. It's clear, during weekend brunch-times, that they're certainly not lacking in eager diners, but the way that we were handled from start to finish left a little something to be desired. Even from the moment we walked in, there was a sense of confusion or lack of concern. We weren't even greeted by an employee and had to inquire with a passing server whether or not we could be seated. Then, we were pointed to one of the counter seats across from the bar, so we settled in. Shortly after ordering food and drinks, a different girl came over to ask if we were waiting for a seat in the dining room - we hadn't even been presented that option earlier; we didn't realise we were in 'temporary' seating! Having already gotten ourselves situated, we couldn't be bothered to move. It would have been nice if that had been communicated earlier. As for the food and drink, my bloody mary was acceptable, if not noteworthy. The baked eggs dish with tomato and pepper ragout was worthy of a post-big night brunch. Of course, as a massive fan of chorizo, I couldn't pass up adding those on for a £2 extra charge. Caravan could go a long way toward being a staple Sunday ritual if they just got their act together on the service front. As it is, I'd rather spend my coin at St. Ali instead.

Granola with Golden Milk, Coconut Bread & Smoothie Bowl

I came across this place when looking for a good spot for a last minute brunch. I am so happy to of found Caravan! We had a great table outside and being located on a street with no cars made for a relaxing atmosphere. The Sunday brunch menu had a great mix of savory & sweet, healthy & indulgent which was perfect for our group of 4 with different tastes! My husband and I split the granola w/ golden milk (genius!), smoothie bowl, and coconut bread. Everything was seriously delicious. The other 2 people in our party ordered savory waffles/eggs & cornbread/eggs with bacon and loved every bit of it. I've already tried to recreate the granola w/ golden milk at home. It is such a creative combination of trendy items and so yummy. I look forward to going back and trying other things on the menu including the espresso martini that everyone seemed to be drinking!

Red quinoa & oat almond milk porridge (£6)

My Mom and I had a delicious brunch here. Interesting food combinations, hearty portions, reasonable prices, and a good mix of indulgent and healthy options. I'd come back here again for brunch - no super long lines and a cute ambiance with natural light makes for an excellent brunch. I wouldn't necessarily trek across London to come here, but if you're in the area or relatively close by, it's a great place. Red quinoa & oat almond milk porridge (£6) - This came with bananas and dates for a little natural sweetness, and it was hearty and healthy. Jalapeno cornbread, frijoles negros, fried eggs, avocado (£9.50) - I've never had savory French toast before, and this was fantastic. I love cornbread and Mexican food, so this was a perfect combination and very unique. I'd highly recommend this! Overall, great selection of food - we enjoyed our meal a lot and my Mom kept wanting to come back here for breakfast/brunch. They have a good selection of sweet / savory / healthy / indulgent options, so everyone should be able to find something they want to eat.

Made reservations second to last day in London. Food was amazing. Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast! The kimchee pancake was amazing!

Let me throw a few more paprika-maple-syrup-drenched stars on Caravan... Firstly, the cornbread "french toast" with avocado, rocket and BACON? I highly recommend. Why has no one thought of this before!? Simply wonderful and achieved that super fine balance of sweet and savory in one dish that I always dream of in a breakfast. Harmony! Satisfied! I was lucky enough to arrive on a perfectly crisp and sunny brunchy morning midweek (Wednesday) so avoided any wait times (a la weekend). I was quickly seated and equipped with water and drinks while I awaited my dining companion. Service was friendly, but a bit aloof/absentminded. Drinks from the bar/barista took unusually long -- but I was not in rush so it wasn't terribly important. They do quite a bit of takeaway coffee business as well so I presume it backs up the bar. Their brunch menu is succinct, but packs a punch. Ask around and you'll definitely hear "cornbread french toast" muttered more than once, so take the hint and try for yourself. A must in Exmouth Market. Add it to the rotation!

A caravan is for two types of people, the over 65s and the traveling circus workers. Okay, okay maybe that is a huge generalisation, because I have no desire to be either and I want a caravan. I just think it would be really useful to have the extra space. A traveling bedroom of sorts. So with this in mind, I should really love Caravan, the bar. There is some logic there I promise! I've been here twice and both times I've left with very little to say about the place. It's had a real bunch of mixed reviews. Apparently the coffee is fabulous, roasted on the premises, but I've only been here for drink. And if the service is anything to go by, I can see why people don't know what to think of it. Really friendly but really slow. Inept, might be a good word to describe it. Which is such a shame as the location and cocktail selection are both really quite pleasant. I will be back though. It's got a certain draw to it. Maybe it's the name... Anyway, I like, I don't love. I may well update this after the next visit. I'll keep you posted.

    Labneh, burrata, croquettes

Delicious lunch near Kings Cross! We shared the labneh, burrata, croquettes, cod dumplings, and the nduja pizza. The labneh was a standout and would highly recommend! We had a great time - good service, good food and good coffee. The servers let us take our time and did not rush us. Definitely want to come back and try the rest of the menu!

30 minute wait for brunch on a Sunday @ 11AM. Not too shabby. The place is a madhouse though. My little party of 3 were anxiously awaiting for a table at Caravan this morning. We were all starving & salivating at the sight of all the dishes that passed by. We decided on sharing everything, which I'm a huge fan of because then we can try everything. ORANGE SCENTED PANCAKES, HONEYCOMB BUTTER & BLUEBERRIES - Mmmmmm. A stack of 2, light pancakes with a huge glob of their honeycome butter on it and a side of blueberry jam. Fan-freaking tastic. Highly recommend getting this and sharing. BAKED EGGS, TOMATO & PEPPER RAGOUT, GREEK YOGURT W/ CHORIZO - Very tasty. Although not really typical of breakfast food, it was still very nice this early in the day. Get some extra bread to dip in to this as well. CORNBREAD FRENCH TOAST, BACON, ROCKET, AVOCADO, W/ PAPRIKA MAPLE - One of my favorites at the table! Not too sweet, but still soooooo good. I love the sweet mixed with savory. CHILLI BEANS, GOAT CHEESE, & FRIED EGG ON GRAIN TOAST - My friends loved this. I was indifferent, but if you're a fan of all that is listed then you'll probably love it too. The food & service is all pretty good. If you're coming in on the weekends, be prepared for a wait. It is very busy so expect it to be noisy.

Caravan would be right at home in the Mission district of San Francisco -- from the the exposed wood and steel to the bar lights made from antique glass carboys, the decor is classic San Francisco hipster. And the coffee is amongst the best I've had anywhere -- they clearly care about the quality of the beans they use, they take their time making each cup, and the result is consistently good. I've only had breakfast here on a few occasions, but each time the food was high quality and tasty. The coconut toast with strawberries and mascarpone was fresh and flavorful (great for a light breakfast), and I was amazed by how perfectly they cooked their eggs (most restaurants fail abjectly when it comes to eggs). About the only thing missing here are crowds -- I've heard that Caravan gets busy in the evenings, but during the day, it's a great place to grab an unhurried breakfast or brunch.

Been here once before for din din and today was my first time for brunch. Amazing! Sat at the bar, but the wait didn't seem that long, and the guys here are great. Good service, so friendly, and coupled with great drinks and food. Had the avocado toast, which was yummy, and paired that with crumpets and butter. So decadent, wish I had asked for some jam with it. The soy latte was delicious, perfectly roasted, nutty and strong. I also tried the carrot, apple and ginger juice that's freshly made. Delicious! Highly recommended. I will be back.

Well slap me silly and call me Susan, I've found my new top meeting spot. With free wi-fi and fresh local artisan coffee (seriously, they roast their beans in the basement,) what else do you need to know before saying "Hello person I'm meeting for our thing of relative importance we must discuss, let's meet at Caravan." Brunch? Tapas? Coffee? Beer? Cocktails? They have it all, and pride themselves on their lack of focus - or at least that's what it would seem from a menu with everything from falafel to sichuan to schnitzel, with some oxtail in the mix. It's fusion at its best and with small plates, a seemingly perfect place for nibblers and grazers like myself. Top that off with an uber cool industrial interior, wide open windows facing the market and friendly if somewhat playfully aloof waiters? Yes please, I'll definitely hop on this caravan.

CORNBREAD FRENCH TOAST, BACON, ROCKET AND AVOCADO
    Dave S.

Caravan is arguably one of the best places in London for brunch. The coffee is really as good as it gets. My favourite though is the cornbread french toast which is served with a generous heaping of avocado and streaky bacon. The slightly spicy chilli syrup really brings out the flavour. Get a side order of the chorizo and you'll be set for one of the best breakfasts around town. Corn bread is hard to find in London, let alone as a base for french toast---and Carvan makes it perfectly! The downside---no reservations for brunch which can mean you will wait and wait and wait...so get there early! Service can be spotty, but for brunch, Caravan needs to be on your short-list.

Tiny hipster coffee looks cute, tastes good, cools quickly.

I liked the atmosphere of this place -- we sat outside on the street, which was lovely. But, I found it a bit overpriced for what you got and while the service was good, despite it being busy, I just wasn't that into it. I got a coffee with soya, which was served in an erlenmeyer flask because hipsters. Within minutes my coffee was lukewarm, but it looked cute. We decided to share the "grilled coconut bread, strawberries and lemon curd cream cheese", but for £7.50 it was a very tiny portion and quite dry. It was listed with the mains, so we were confused why it was more of a starter portion. We could've gotten a full English for a pound more. The coffee was good and I love Exmouth Market's atmosphere, so I didn't *hate* it and I'd return, but eh. I feel lukewarm about it... like my coffee.

FRIES WITH TRUFFLE CHEESE The fries weren't as crispy as I would've liked, but the soft bite similar to mashed potatoes was pretty good. The cheese itself really carried the rich flavors of the truffle without overwhelming your tastebuds. Such a decadent cheese. SALT AND PEPPER SQUID The squid meat itself wasn't over cooked which is easy to do and makes it feel like you're chewing on a tire. Not the case here. The squid was fried perfectly, nice and crispy first bite. The garlic aioli complimented the batter they used to fry the squid in, very tasty. PEKING DUCK LETTUCE WRAPS These lettuce wraps were the perfect two bites sized appetizers. Such a flavorful and well cooked duck. The cucumber salad and lettuce helped bring the intensity of flavors down so that you could enjoy every bite. There's a full bar, but service is a little slow and congested. Staff are really nice and friendly. The dart games are so involved where each player can have their selfie taken and name displayed on the board. You can compete as teams or against each other depending on your chosen game. At the end, there is a final game stats to show who won and a group photo to conclude all the fun. A fantastic way to test out your dart skills and have fun with your loved ones!

And it was loud. I guess technically it was a darts place and so there was a lot of excitement near the dartboard area. The bar staff were all buzzing about shaking their shakers and pouring drinks. It was a great vibe - apropos for a Friday night. Ok we got the little bit lychee drink (subbed vodka for gin) which was excellent with what looked like a dark dahlia floating on top. I wanted to try a British beer and got the magic rock saucery session pale ale (saying its name is like a built in sobriety test). The ale was definitely IPA but with a really clean finish. And because I'm a pig, ordered the fries with truffle cheese. Wow that was so so good! Shoestring fries with a heavy drizzle of truffle melted cheese. I can't really complain about the super loud music since it probably suited the main clientele and was really good (club versions of many 80s songs). So it looks like a really fun joint for the young locals with some older folks who maybe stumbled in like we did. Really nice bartenders and front staff. Thanks for not giving us a BS line to keep us out like the other place.

Came here for pre-theater anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was somewhere between that of a trendy club and nice bar. There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.
