As bad fortune would have it, we recently had extensive water damage and the general contractor subbed out repair work to SLO Drywall. They caused us nothing but headaches -- poor communication, repeated no-shows, spread the work over weeks (couple hours here, couple hours there...), made an awful mess (scratched our hardwood floors, sanded our ceiling without covering our new carpet) and ultimately left the job incomplete. While this was going on, we hired Cuesta Drywall to do our kitchen/dining room project. As always, Frank (owner) responded the same day we contacted him, showed up to give us a bid the next day, and had completed the job (new drywall install, tape & texture in our kitchen and dining room) within three days. Their bid came in below our budget and they finished ahead of schedule. The crew showed up on time, worked quickly and cleanly, and were friendly and professional. They even tackled a few misc patch and texture jobs while they were here. Our general contractor overseeing the other work was blown away by the difference and asked me for Cuesta Drywall's info. I had assumed that most drywall companies are about the same, but they're not. Cuesta Drywall is far superior in every aspect of their service, professionalism and quality. One was patchwork throughout the house and the other was after raising a ceiling and wrapping a support beam. Both projects required texturing which they matched perfectly to the rest of the house. You absolutely cannot deferentiate between the original and patched areas now that its painted. Additionally, everyone on his team was kind and respectful, as we were living in a portion of the home while they worked. They were hardworking, efficient and fairly priced (I had several quotes). Then they dropped off the drywall when they weren't supposed to and left it outside (with rain in the forecast) so they had to come back and move it in the house. The guys that hung the drywall didn't shim the drywall so the walls aren't flat, which caused problems for my countertop gusy. And when I called to complain, they told me that it was my houses fault that they couldn't hang drywall properly. And they are expensive. It would have cost me less to have my electrician hang the drywall and would have been done better.... :-O
