I was very pleased with Jonn. This was my fourth house project and I did not use an architect this time, only a structural engineer. Hence, I was looking for a contractor who would be flexible and could work with me. I expected to make design changes on the fly, and Jonn accommodated these nicely. He was very collaborative and change orders were charged only for incremental costs, not in penalty fashion or at punitive rates. Which was important, because I made a lot of changes. I found Jonn easy to work with, knowledgeable, timely, responsive, and committed. We encountered weather-related delays and unexpected problems; Jonn stuck with it throughout. Not least, when the project was complete and all bills paid, he still stayed in touch, and was just a text away to come and fix things when the inevitable small glitches occurred during the initial months of occupancy. Not many contractors meet that standard! Can I think of anything negative? All that comes to mind is to caution you that Jonn runs a relatively small outfit. He can't throw an army at a problem, nor can he command sub-contractors to jump to it or else. As a consequence, the job didn't always move as quickly as I might have hoped. But it all got done to spec, so this is a matter of adjusting your expectations. All in all, it was a very positive experience, and I highly recommend Jonn for construction jobs large and small.

They did a great job and Jose stands behind their work. If I find anything that isn't quite right or got missed, he said he'll come take care of it (100% confidence in this). Let me tell you: their work is immaculate. They got our weird Los Osos house looking great. If you've dealt with a handful of contractors, you get a sense right away that some people are really into what they do and some are just there to do work. That first type--the enthusiast--is the one you want. Not only does Rob exemplify it, his entire crew does as well. We'll definitely use them again if and when the need arises.

His bid was competitive, and he was able to offer suggestions and ideas that we hadn't thought of or didn't know were feasible. The initial timeline was several months out, but Rob remained in contact and was able to move us up on the calendar. The project was completed at the quoted price, plus a couple of scope additions we requested. Work took a little longer than expected, likely due to modifications needed to bring our aging home up to standard, and the perfection of our tile work; Rob does things the right way, and uses great subcontractors. The end result is beautiful. The bathroom remodel was completed so perfectly that we now see flaws in our guest bathroom which was remodeled 3 years ago by a different contractor. Our master suite has transformed from the worst part of our home to our personal sanctuary. I would not hesitate to hire Rob Tol Construction again. In fact, we're already planning to when we're ready to start our next project. They did not charge me and did no know if they would end up with a job. When my insurer honored my claim, Wage Builders were the ones I hired to do the job. They were professional, competent and did more than they promised, never scrimping on materials or labor. They even helped me with a few things that were unrelated to the job.
