Friday, May 8, 2026: At volunteered to bring a dessert for the Elks Lodge Mexican themed dinner that evening. I figured Pan Dulce would be perfect. This is a very inviting market, I love how it's decorated. It's clean, bright, and organized. It was nicely decorated for Mother's Day. I bought 2 large tubs of Pan Dulce cookies for $8.99 each and bought separate Pan Dulce from the large cases. It was a great variety. I totally forget to take photos of the delectables! Love love love Cardenas. The produce section is always great - selection & prices. I love the Mexican cultural decor and experience of being in the store, and the food options too. I love the food court area - Taco Tuesdays are the best if you don't mind the wait in line (I included a pic of 2 dogs waiting in a truck parked out front on Taco Tuesday). I also tried their piña colada smoothie at Café Cardenas and it's huge, it tastes great for a great deal. My only complaint is the unclear pricing/self-checkout attendant for the mandarins. So one day I was here and wanted to get manadrins. There wasn't a price posted, so I sent a guy there to ask for me. He told me $1.29/lb. When I rang it up at self-checkout, it came up as $1.99/lb and when I told the self-checkout attendant there that it should be $1.29 - she said the guy I asked had asked her and it's $1.99, it's what the system says. Other places with good customer service like Ralph's Murrieta would apologize, trust my word, and adjust it. Bad customer service from Cardenas - and the only reason they got 3 instead of 4 stars here. read more

Cardenas is my favorite Mexican Supermarket of all time! It's such a great store with so many amazing products that are made in house. The staff is excellent always helpful and they keep their shelves stocked. No one works harder than them. The Cardenas entire store runs like a well oiled machine other supermarkets can take notes and learn from the best. The carniceria is top notch! Always keeping tons of meat in stock and the head butcher will cut, cuts you need, on the spot. This place is a GEM. Please continue to be the best in the game. Food is great, but I have a problem with the customer service. Soo far Ihave always had an issue with Maria serving me in the breakfast/lunch area. She give you the nastiness attitude as she as a stick up.... Why would you be working on a field where you do is serve customers? Sick and tired of trying to order ceviche from this place and always get the wrong thing. DoorDash charges you three times would it normally cost in the store ! Apparently they're OK with that. Why do they have nine different of each but every time I go in there myself to get regular ceviche they don't have any their and ......there alcohols is overpriced. Their service sucks. This place is the worst in deals and they don't honor their ad. Im not sure if its this location only or all Cardenas. Every Wednesday there's a new ad. I came here on a Wednesday to get their 13/15 jumbo, de veined, peeled shrimp. They did not have any at all. The seafood/butcher guy said they ran out. Its the first day of the new ad, how can they run out? Honestly, they just don't want to sell it as advertised. I bought some jalepeno bread and went to check out. I asked the cashier if I can get a raincheck bc Cardenas is far from where I live. The cashier went to ask the manager, and the manager said no and just try coming again another day. I thought grocery stores were supposed to honor rainchecks if they don't have supplies unless stated "while supplies last". Im not too sure on that, I could be wrong. Well, I came 2 days later as I was on my way back from Santa Ana. Guess what? They still didnt have any of that shrimp out. They said they ran out. Just wow! That shrimp deal is a pretty decent deal. If its just a misprint, say so. My time was wasted and no one knows any information about the ad or deals. This location is big and they have many veggies that can be lower price than others grocery stores, but everything else like meat, poultry, seafood, even soft drinks are just too expensive. Just go there for tomatillos, cilantro, onions, and some tomatoes. Sometimes avocados. The store setting is weird and the aisles should be reorganized. Very disappointed with this store. They ruined my relative's birthday celebration. I purchased what was supposed to be a tres leches cake, but when we cut into it, it turned out to be a dry chocolate cake instead. The bakery employee assured me it was tres leches, and it was even labeled as tres leches, but it was clearly the wrong cake. Unfortunately, the chocolate cake wasn't even good. To make matters worse, I tried calling the store three separate times to report the issue, but no one answered. The lack of customer service was just as disappointing as receiving the wrong cake. OMG... my eyes were popping out with amazement and intrigue when I first entered this Cardenas Market! It was so very clean, organized, and bright. And it's huge! It was about 30 minutes before closing time so there weren't a lot of customers which probably gave me a pretty good view of the place. They have La Cocina (The Kitchen) with tables and chairs for dine-in, lots of different salsas and chips ready to be packed or already pre-packaged, tamales station (got masa?), meats and seafood areas, cremeria space, bakery, Cafe Cardenas with tables and chairs for dine-in, too, and so much more. It was love at first sight! LOL Staff was super friendly, nice, and helpful. The assistant manager was nice to answer my questions on the salsa and gave me some recommendations on chips. Thank you Miss! I ended up buying a container of shrimp salsa with chips... so very pleased with the taste! I wish I had more time to explore this wonderful market of fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, meats, baked goods, and maybe even dine in at La Cocina or Cafe Cardenas. I'll have to make sure I drop by again the next time I am in the Murrieta area. This was hands-down one of the most disappointing food purchases I've ever made. I sent my son to Cardenas Market to pick up lunch from their kitchen, and what came back was honestly embarrassing. The container was filled almost entirely with gravy, with a laughable amount of meat buried somewhere inside. The meat provided wouldn't be enough to feed a child, let alone an adult who paid full price for a meal that is supposed to feature meat as the main component. If I could give zero stars I would. Not sure what happened to this place, they use to have great tasting tamales, not any longer. My honest opinion is what I always thought. They're totally overblown. We frequent many mexican markets in Central Washington, and this place was no better or worse than they are. I do not know why people keep going to buy bread, specially bolillo. The bread for a while now you can only eat the same day. Otherwise, after a day or two it becomes hard and stiff to eat. They have not invested in hearing from the community about how their bread is not what it used to be and people just keep buying it. Produce is always a hit or miss. I mainly purchase sweet bread, Mexican spices/ingredients, tortillas, cheese, cream and some meat here. Butchers are always nice and offer suggestions on what meat to use for certain dishes. The other day I purchased some meat for "carne en su jugo" and the butcher gave me another recipe to use in the future when buying that meat. Loved their 3 leches cake until recent years, they don't add enough 3 leches and it's not as moist anymore. Cashiers have told me to ask the bakers to add more milk but I tend to get attitude from them so I stopped buying the cake. read more

I went shopping here and overheard a manager I believe he was in the kitchen. The name on the badge was Jesus, he was making fun of a worker saying something like "I wet my feet I'm not going to work" the other workers laughed. It made me feel very uncomfortable. As a worker in general one should be professional and are representing the company in the best light. I felt very uncomfortable and not wanting to come back.
