Purchased a vehicle from here at the end of September 2019, was told that some problems the vehicle had would be covered in a warranty (horn is very weak and cloth under sunroof doesn't retract making my sunroof useless.) and whenever I attempt to get a hold of my salesman (Mike) to figure out when I can bring it In, im left on Opened. Would update my review once my problem is resolved. Update 11/06/19 I FINALLY got an update on my mentioned problems, and Cardinal REFUSES to fix my sunroof, claiming it's not under warranty when Mike (who is no longer employed there for this situation among others) CLEARLY stated he would get it taken care of being it work when I test drove. They will fix my horn, but the fact I bought a car with a sunroof only to have it go out THE DAY I PICK IT UP, is bullshit. The fact I was sold a car advertised with a sunroof only for it to not work, and me have to pay out of pocket to get it to work, is SCUMMY. So my son purchased his first ever vehicle on his own from this dealership. He recently became a Marine , fresh out of boot camp and wanted a truck. While the sales experience was fine, the after purchase was horrible. My advice to go to a reputable dealer. Not this one. The manager lies. He promised my son a missing part on the truck and after two months of the runaround where he says on numerous occasions he sent the part , and was signed for and will produce a tracking number , could not produce a tracking number and said he washes his hands of this. He even made mention of the fact that because we were from up north that we were giving him a hard time. No we weren't giving him a hard time, we were just asking for what was promised, or at least a tracking number to prove that he did send the item and it got lost in the mail.He constantly refers to this as a $25 part, it's more than a $25 part it's a matter of principle. If it were a $25 part and that's all it why why wouldn't he deliver on his promises. This is the way this dealership treats a young Marine on his first car purchase on his own. It's disgusting and despicable and dishonest. My advice is to steer as far clear from this dealership as possible. They are your typical scrupulous used car dealer with the mentality of such and takes advantage of people. I'm quite surprised with the bad reviews. The staff we encountered were polite, professional and courteous. We were never pressured and felt comfortable discussing our needs. Most importantly, we found a fair compromise with our negotiation...so as long as your offer isn't ridiculously low, you can expect cooperation. The experience ended with my wife and I being very happy with the purchase. Our salesperson was Sergio. With that aside, this is a used card lot...which means there are always risks with the vehicles. Understanding the risks doesn't eliminate the need for caution, yet there are ways to feel comfortable with the risks. For instance; *Take the vehicle to a mechanic for an inspection (for a $75 - $100 fee) *Check the Carfax *Buy one of the several warranty packages that Cardinal offers *Most importantly research the make and model of the vehicle As long as you are not lied to, manipulated and/or pressured into purchasing a vehicle...it is irrational to hold any used car dealership accountable. "As is" basically means once the car is bought, anything wrong with the car is not the dealer's responsibility. We targeted about 2 dozen used cars through the internet which included around a dozen used car dealerships in the area and eventually chose Cardinal simply because they had what we were looking for and after reading the previous reviews about them we were apprehensive about paying them a visit... Most likely and unfortunately it seems that those who had a bad experience with Cardinal took the time to write a review (and I feel badly for those customers) more than those who had a good experience. Ours was a good experience. The only thing of note is that Cardinal does not offer financing services, which I find refreshing since they choose NOT to exploit potential customers with the used car financing at high percentage interest rate scam. I had a deal with this dealership and it was pretty smooth. The salesman was direct and you get what you see. The deal was 'as is' similar to other dealers in the area and you get what you pay for. The car has been running good for past 8 months now. However I was told that all the 4 tyres were new but recently one of the tyres got deformed and had to replace two of them as they were 10 years old. It would have been better if they were honest about it and clarified earlier. So better be cautious and cross verify everything before committing to a deal. read more

Believe every 1 star review and question the 5 star reviews that could easily be written by their staff... I truly hope that no one experiences what we did. Please be very careful!!! A Carfax will not report all the sketchy mechanic work or even accidents. After many pointless conversations, we still have a useless car with $5,000+ worth of problems. Our vehicle was wrecked and it was not on the Carfax. We tried our best to give them the benefit of the doubt and we gave every opportunity to improve our experience. However, it became very apparent that they were happy to wipe their hands clean of this problem early on and it seemed that they almost enjoyed the fact that they seemingly got away with it by their sarcastic tone and we could hear multiple people laughing at us on the phone. So, let me first start at the beginning of our experience. When we were shopping for the car, they told us to step our budget up from 5k to 6-7k and we would get something SO much nicer. They had 2 Honda CR-Vs available in that range, so we agreed to do so because Hondas typically have a track record of outlasting most vehicles on the road. One of the CR-Vs was present on the lot, and the other was away getting some paint to touch up scratches (or looking back was probably being tampered with). So, we drove the one that was present. We noticed a loud popping and were told that it was most likely the CV joint and it was an easy repair. We did not think much of it, however, we opted for the one that was getting touch up paint because it was a year older and a bit cheaper. (This car was for a teenager, we wanted it to be nice but also budget friendly) When we drove it home, we noticed one headlight was dimmer so we decided to order a new head light. We then had brake pads and other various maintenance done. Then we ended up having to replace some various things. We were frustrated but the vehicle was 10 years old so we gave it the benefit of the doubt. The vehicle had barely been drove at this point so none of the real issues were apparent. The first thing we learned when we received the headlight we ordered, is that the headlight would not fit because of apparent front end damage from an accident of some sort. Even then, we did not blame Cardinal. However, the real problem came when we finally started to actually drive the car, a plume of white smoke came out. We learned that the vehicle had engine problems. We called Cardinal considering we had not even had the vehicle but a few weeks and had not only had to do a substantial amount of maintenance to get it up to standard, but we had learned that the vehicle had been wrecked, AND IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. This became the start of many conversations that showed their true colors. Their first response was not that they were sorry but, that we should have bought the more expensive CR-V and we would not be in this predicament. We asked several times to speak to the owner, Hassan Mohamed, but were told we could not. They then decided after MANY calls, that they would upgrade our warranty and that this would cover any issues moving forward. However, let me tell you the warranty is USELESS. Long story short, it will go to astronomical lengths to not cover anything. The diagnosis was that it needed a new engine or a rebuild, and that someone had basically ran this car very hot. (we took this vehicle to 3 different & very qualified, auto professionals for quotes and opinions) They theorized that the front end damage busted the radiator and the previous owner did not have this repaired right away and it ran so hot that it warped the cylinder head. The engine was never fixed but covered up by sealing everything with coolant which in result caused the smoking. After speaking with Cardinal numerous times, they refused to take any accountability for the car coming off their lot with these problems and told us "You bought it, you are stuck with it." read more

When I bought my car on March 2023, the pictures showed the rear car vents were broken but they would order me a replacement. I agreed to the purchase because outside of that the car had very low mileage. I also noticed that I didn't have my floor mats. Even though when advertised the pictures showed the floor mats. The floor mats was there when I test drove the car. I asked about the mats and was told they will investigate the issue. As of today no floor mats, so I bought my own. The rear vent cover they claimed they ordered when I purchased the car, I didn't get that part until a month later. I called numerous times about including a tracking number. Instead I got excuses. The only reason why I did receive the part was because they signed an agreement to replace it. One of my sensors went out and I asked could they repair it since it wasn't covered in the warranty agreement. I was told the mechanic wasn't available. Had an appt. to see a car at 9 am, car was not there, keys were not there, salesman was not there. We had to come back that day, inconveniently on a work day! Promises were given, comments like "I'll make it up to you" each time there was in issue, was never made up to us. One of the salesman claims he has been in auto sales for 30 years, couldn't even tell a windshield had to be completely replaced and not just scratches from the windshield wipers. It was fine, but expect your total to be much higher than advertised! They are able to keep their prices low because they make you buy a service contract. Mine was $2,500! They will not sell without the service contract. I was shocked when I saw the total. There is also a $400 service fee, and gap insurance for $400, which I had him take off. I expected some taxes and fees, but the difference was drastic. He didn't explain anything about the service contract or gap insurance until I asked, which felt a little dishonest. Excellent buying experience here. My sales rep, Christian, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The experience was very easy and very low pressure. After taking the vehicle to my mechanic and coming back with some minor cosmetic concerns, Christian worked with me to either have each item resolved by their in-house repair crew or he adjusted the price accordingly. My only complaint is that the detailing crew didn't do a great job on the car's interior. I watched Christian explain to them exactly where the cleaning trouble spots were and they did a cursory job at best. Owner Mr. Hassan Mohamed is a liar! Last month I drove from Charlotte to Raleigh to purchase an auto from Cardinal Auto Sales. Worked with a great sales guy, Christian Johnson! Unfortunately, the pompous owner, Mr. Hassan Mohamed, never comes out of his office and expects each sales person to come into his office for approval on every little detail. After some negotiations back and forth, which Christian had to go "kiss the ring" each time, Mr. Mohamed agreed to our $12,000 all-in offer. This was agreed to include the sales price, title, tag, doc fees, and all taxes. Low and behold about 3 weeks later, the tag came in from NCDMV and Christian mailed to me with the local county tax bill, unpaid, in the envelope. I emailed and called, and the email response I got from them was, "Every county has their own fees we cannot anticipate. I am sorry, but I misunderstood our deal and we will not pay for your county taxes." Now, it's only $88, but I am writing this review because it is all about principle and trustworthiness from a person that is not an honest businessman. He then tried to say, I'll split it with you 50:50 and offered to send me $44. Again, it's not the amount, it is the principle on his word when we shook hands to consummate the deal as agreed. I have two good friends who are car dealers in NC, and they deal with this all the time. They also ship cars across the country and have access to get local county tax information. In 30 seconds, I was able to Google "How to estimate my NC county auto taxes," and this link popped up, https://edmv.ncdot.gov/TaxEstimator. I entered my information and the amount was only $0.53 different than the actual $87.43. Hello you all me and my wife up 33 years went to Cardinal auto sales on Fayetteville Road in Raleigh to look to buy a car for my son. So we found the car we thought and there was A couple issues with the car one while driving it The front steering wheel what shaken and the break-in also was shaking when you applied the break so we found out it need a front rotors and brake pads which they replaced so we went to pick up the car yesterday took it for test drive everything was fine but I want to bring it to a mechanic just to have it checked to make sure everything was good because when they sell you a car there it is as is..... so we brought it to a mechanic shop about a mile away paid $90 to have it looked at by a professional mechanic shop and it needed front rotor mount that's for the engine. Otherwise the car was good so we went back to the salesman we would be on with I believe his name was Christian and we showed him the receipt that it needed a motor mount while we were in his office he took the paperwork from us and want to show someone I guess his boss and they said we buy the part and they will fax it now this is only a $60 part they told us now mind you this is only a $7000 car $7500 car and I looked at my wife and I couldn't believe that they wanted us to pay for it so we got up and walked away from this dealer used car dealer and they lost our business over $60 now mind you we didn't get nothing up on the car we paid full price not even $100 off we're talking full price now so the total came out to about $7400 so they lost the customer for good and they lost out on the sale of $7400 over a $60 part now mind you were not rich so I would not recommend this car dealership anyone because if there something wrong with the car if you take it to a mechanic they expect you to pay for it which I find totally absurd read more

As I read through other reviews I realized I had the same issue with tires and other problems in the car. We purchased this car with what I was told had tires, brakes, lights and more systems inspected by a certify State Business. I was also told by the Manager that brake pads and rotors were change after I explicitly said that I will buy this car if they change the brakes. On the pick up date, he also assured me that the car was detailed and that I will have a XM service for 6 months plus insurance for engine and transmission. To my surprise, the car was not detailed or clean in addition, it started to shake uncontrollably after hitting 60 miles per hour. I call the manager the same day and left a message and no response. I took the car to a local dealer and they told me that the car had tires that are lower the legal limit and a misaligned front tires (full copies). They also performed a brake inspections and brakes were not change and rotors were old and rusted. Two days later, the WM service stopped. wow, what can I said, this is my worst experience ever. So, I've had communication with the salesmen for a few days over a specific vehicle they have. Told him I had a vehicle I'd like to use as a trade in, told him the info and he said to bring it on in. We drive for an hour and make it there at 4:30. Looking at the vehicles which weren't quite as nice as the photos, but I was still willing to make a deal. Granted my vehicle was newer and had a lot less miles and wear and tear, I was thinking I'd walk out with one of these suvs. Like I said, the salesman was nice, the owner however....was a dick. Not only did he not acknowledge me greeting him, he purposely spoke broken English to my mother and I. Really?! C'mon, we are fluent in English, and you want to ASSume we're FOBs?! Pfft. Then we talk money, not for long though. He just outright said no, I don't want your van. Too basic. Okay, that's cool, not going to throw a fit or anything, we are done with business here. This guy though, keeps speaking. It was one of those moments where you are trying your absolute best to bite your tongue because you don't need to sink down to his level. I drove from Fort Bragg to Raleigh, to purchase a used car because I was warned of shady business practices in Fayetteville when it comes to used cars. I purchased a Volkswagen Jetta from this dealership last week. After leaving the lot I took the vehicle to Meineke in Fayetteville to have a comprehensive diagnostic done. Only a few things were noted on the diagnostic. First, I needed an oil change because the wrong oil was placed in a Euro-engine and I needed a four wheel alignment. I paid for my diagnostic and oil change, then called the dealership back concerning the alignment. If the car is serviced prior to selling, you would think an alignment would be performed on the front end. My salesmen (Matt) gave me the run around all week. "I'll talk to the boss, I'll call you back, I'll take care of you". Then to top it off the car ended up with electrical problems as well. We had to take it to a VW dealer to fix those issues. BTW the 90 day warranty is a joke. You can never get a hold of anyone and they don't return calls. The warranty company is just as shady as this dealership. My advice to anyone looking for a car is to shop elsewhere. Look for a certified used car dealership. It may cost a little more upfront, but at least you'll have peace of mind. read more

After having looked at multiple dealerships, we found a car we really wanted at Cardinal. Test drove the car and it was making noise(First red flag) The running boards retracted but the motor was shot so they agreed to disengage the motor so the boards would stay down. (2nd red flag) The very same day we drove the car off the lot, we found out the air didn't work so they agreed to fix that too. Had to wait 2 weeks for the part to come in. I show up only to find they received the wrong part. So I have to wait for the right one and then find out their mechanic, needed help fixing the air. During this time, my key became stuck in the ignition(3rd red flag). I was told to give it a "bump". At this point, I realized having their mechanic fix anything was beyond his scope so I took it to Ford who proceeded to tell me the ignition wiring was shot not to mention there were mismatched parts and it would end up costing me $1120. We called to tell them to which they replied" You should have brought it back to us but now you've taken it to Ford so we're not helping you. Why would I bring it back to you when your mechanic couldn't fix my air on his own?? I hadn't even had the car for 3 weeks at this point. The professional thing to do would have been to at least agree to pay half since you KNOW they knew exactly what sort of condition this car was in. They claimed to have looked over the car after getting it at auction and that it was is GREAT condition. Bullshit. "Well we fixed the air" they replied. If the car was in such great condition, it shouldn't have had to been fixed.Between the air, the ignition and the running boards, there was nothing great about this car. Moral of my story.Don't even think about buying a car from these people unless they agree to let you take to a mechanic of YOUR choosing to have it looked over. I found a vehicle at Cardinal Auto Sales on Auto Trader's website. I was very interested in purchasing this particular truck. I looked up the value of the vehicle at KBB and they were about $900 above suggested dealer's retail value. I called them and spoke to a salesman, who completely lacked any phone tact or etiquette. He seemed that he could not care less about answering my questions about the vehicle and would only give vague answers. When I asked him about the price, he said the price was not negotiable and they would not discount the price. I researched the vehicle by the VIN and was able to trace its purchases. I discovered the vehicle had been sold for $2000 less than their asking price from another local dealership 3 months prior. I contacted the sales person via email and questioned him about it, his response was quote "No problems with the truck at all. We checked it over very well when we got it in. We got the vehicle from a dealer trade that we did. They wanted a truck we had and we wanted the truck they had. We do alot of that actually. Nothing to be of concern." What a classic used car salesman response! I did not realize these Neanderthals still existed in the 21st century. People such as this give all used car salespeople a bad name and is the reason I generally don't trust them and fully expect them to lie. I went in to look at a couple of Chevy Avalanches that they had on Craigslist. I spent 45 minutes wandering around the lot and never once did a sales person speak to me. There were sales people out on the lot helping other customers - customers already there and customer that came in after me. I located both trucks and both look rough as a cob, scratched, odd discolorations in the paint in bizarre locations. Also another thing I noticed was most of the vehicles I thought I might be interested had bald or very low tread and prices were high for whats there. There also was a Silverado there that was mislabeled a 1500 and should be a 2500 series...how do I know, 2500 has 8 hole wheel pattern 1500 is either 6 hole or 5 hole. I left and no ones said a word to me. How do you expect to sell cars if you don't talk to me, especially if I am walking around for 45 minutes. Don't walk, Run from this dealer!!!! read more

honestly i dont care if they know who i am or not , aleshia !!! i bought a 2011 hyundai sonata through my bank , the guy who sold me the car was timothy , the week after i bought the car my engine light came on , so i took it to auto zone they said i needed an 02 sensor replaced , ok so the car dealership replaced it with no problem , two weeks later boom im driving and my engine went out , did not even have the car for 30 days !!!! so they said they could fix it for me covering labor and cost and i would only have to pay $1400 , but you guys already got 9,000 from my bank and i havent even hav the car over 30 days , so , timothy said he will talk to the boss , and gave me this sobby ass story like his boss wants to help , remind you timothy says he will give me an update and call me back everytime , but not once did he , i had to always call and see the update on my car , they said my engine was in "process" and it was on the way and then two weeks later they said it got rerouted , and that now he doesnt know when my car will be fix and said his boss had to come up with the "money" lol ..lies....so i made it my business to get a tow truck to get my car and thank god southern states of hyundai , provided me with a rental free of no charge and gave me a brand new engine , and also provided warrenty , dont recommend this place at all , not professonal , the boss doesnt even come out and speak , not once did he come out to speak to me or try to help , just sat his fat ass in that office , they will never get my service :) so happy i have my car back thank to southern states of hyundai , if I could give 0 stars I would !!!!!!! read more
