Response to Chris D , Visiting Angels -…read more I am not sure what you are referring to an "investigation by social services" but that has nothing to do with my review of Visiting Angels . There were things that were stolen however due to fear of retaliation, my father did not speak up at the time which I had wished I had known earlier as I would have handled it myself. He was berated multiple times by Isis who is the caregiver that broke HIPAA violations. She at one point told my father she was going to purée my mother's food and feed her through a straw without a doctors order or common sense that could lead to aspiration. Not on my 20 plus years of being a social worker and dealing with clients with medical support needs have I ever known a medical professional to even order such a thing. I am well aware of the stress providers have endured during Covid 2020 as I am a social worker / case manager and did my job throughout Covid without breaking HIPAA and treating those with respect and dignity which is a basic human right. There is no excuse to break HIPAA due to Covid, period . Using Covid for your staffs poor judgment is a lame excuse and unacceptable. This caregiver Isis who took the video first, was NOT filming a " workout " snippet of herself and she scanned the room to show my mother . People were chiming in making comments etc. I do have the video still that I screen recorded if you need me to address the motive behind her video . Malice or no malice , she broke HIPAA. She should have been terminated however she was kept on as I know you all are having difficulties hiring and keeping good, educated, caring staff. Lastly , if your staff is working and providing direct supports to an individual on the clock , why on earth would they even be working out or making a LIVE Facebook video in a clients home? My mother is not ambulatory so tell me, what kind of exercising was this person doing with my mother ? Just a poor excuse. You are barking up the wrong tree with me as I know very well what HIPAA violations are and what caregivers should and should not be doing in someone's home. The population that you serve are mostly elderly individuals that are unfortunately at risk of exploitation anytime they allow a caregiver to enter their home. We have moved on from Visiting Angels and are very happy with our current provider but Chris, please don't give us lame excuses and use Covid to save face. I will always advocate for my parents and those that cannot advocate for themselves - thus the purpose of my response. People beware , Visiting Angels is not the way to go!

He enjoyed the visits from the carepartners who went out of their way to keep him engaged while giving us a much needed break to work, sleep, run errands, etc. Initially, we were nervous about finding an agency. VHCP's name came to us from a list from our physician. We spent a lot of time with them on the phone before actually meeting with them and setting up services. Our experience was completely positive and we are so glad that we worked with VHCP. In making the decision, we also checked out google and facebook reviews about this company where there were many positive reviews and our experience with VHCP was similar to the positive review experiences stated there. They could not have been a better support to us! Highly recommend this company. VHCP really understood the needs related to dementia and made sure we as caregivers were supported and he was shown so much love during the time they worked with us. They kept him actively engaged. We never worried about leaving him in their care and we fondly remember our time with them. They made great efforts to increase coverage (during a holiday week no less) when he went on hospice and provided more support to our family than hospice did through the transition. They also called us after he passed to make sure we were doing okay. They made this difficult time so much easier for us and they often knew what we needed before we knew what we needed. They were a blessing in our time of need and we highly recommend them.

Unfortunately it started to decline a while ago and has since dwindle to " pay up, put up and shut up" in terms of the quality of care staff and services. It is a constant revolving door of care takers so always training a new person and difficult for an elderly person to adjust. We requested if can have 2 or 3 stable care takers so they can get used to the routine and was completely ignored. They state that they prepare meals, and do light house keeping etc, but that entails microwave and vacuumed only, they are mainly interested in their phones while on duty. One time the care taker was talking on her phone while driving my mother to an appointment, mom asked her to hang up on her call while driving and got an attitude instead. These are just a few examples, and when we voiced our concerns, they fired us! As I said, Their mission statement should be " pay up, put up and shut up"!

When we called the business line the person did not announce their business and just said "hello" as if they were using the phone for personal and business reasons, then they hung up. I called back immediately and left a message announcing who I am and that I am a relative of one of their clients that would like a return call. They immediately called back and announced themselves as the business and began to tell me there was nothing, they could do to give information about the healthcare worker and that I should have asked for ID on day one. Later after our mother got sick, she requested that the healthcare worker wear a mask and gloves and the agency and healthcare worker told us that the client has to provide it and the worker said she did not have the money for these supplies. Our mother had been a home health care aide for 10 years and she thought these questions were normal, but with this company they continued to be abrasive in their customer relations and evasive about any questions they were asked. It is my opinion that they think customers do not have the ability to give a review on the internet of their company and they think they can get away with this kind of treatment. I am writing this review on behalf of the experience our family had with this company.
