Finding someone to care for your loved one may cause a sense of anxiety, and I was so happy to be able to share CareAssist with my family! Cynthia performed a comprehensive assessment at our house, explained the whole process, patiently answered all our questions, and helped us deal with the long-term health insurance company. The communication flow with the CareAssist administration is open, and they are quick to respond. The angels who come to care for mom are caring, loving, and kind. They assist her with all her needs: bathing, bathroom, dressing, and other daily activities that she can no longer do on her own. With their help, she enjoys cooking and baking again, and in addition, she is teaching them crafting, something they do together throughout their time with her. We have been using CareAssist Services since mid-2019 when Mom at 93 using a walker needed someone a few hours a day, 3 days a week. As things got more difficult for her, we continued to add care to full-time, around the clock, by the end of the year. We have been so very content with the service, and the ease with which we could request and make changes with the HonorCare app and via text was a life-saver to get Mom caregivers she felt really attended to her needs well. In 2020, we engaged 2 full-time live-in caregivers referred by a friend. But when one took some time off late in the year and the last 3 months if 2021 CareAssist was there for us. My mother was hospitalized shortly before the holidays. She has been having ongoing medical issues over the past several years and due to COVID, she and my stepdad were not really having visitors in their home. The hospital was recommending that she go to a care facility to get additional assistance with her day to day needs. My mom adamantly refused this option. I reached out to Cynthia and she was able to get on a Zoom meeting with me and my stepdad and then meet with us at my mom's home. Within a day she was able to get my mom on her caregiver schedule and even referred us to a housekeeper that could help maintain my mom's home. Cynthia showed great compassion and was even able to get a "buy in" from my mom who is very stubborn. She took the burden and fear of how we were going to help my mom away from my family. Thank goodness for CareAssist Services and their amazing caregivers! When my father had a stroke, we didn't know where to turn once he was released from the in-hospital rehab facility. He was still in need of constant care but my mother had to go back to work now that my father would not be able to return to his job.
