Stay away! This guy is creepy and a scammer. I went to his office, he did not ask me any questions about me or my career, and in a very heavy handed salesman pitch got me to choose a type of resume. THEN he revealed he does not take anything but cash and he walked me down to the ATM to get him cash. He stood next to me while I tried to get cash. I thankfully could only get out $100. So, I'd leave less than one star if I could. Let me start by saying the reviews referencing nonstop harassment are TRUE. I reached out to Jody Gothard, Career Pro Resumes, for a consult. When we spoke some of the red flags didn't quite stand out when I was on the initial phone call. After speaking to him, something didn't quite sound right. He asked for me to come to see him for an in person consultation, even though we're under a strict shelter in place. I agreed, hesitantly, and he asked that I brought a check with me to the consultation. He would not give me an estimate for the scope of work. After the check comment I decided to do a little research. I went to Google and decided to check out the worst reviews for the company instead of the most recent. My experience mirrors these reviews: Sounds great... at first. So obviously he's a great salesman. I ended up canceling based on needs of work. He waited a day before incessantly calling me. Once the day passed, he called from various numbers and three days in he sent me an email that said to call him. I answered one number because I was waiting on a food delivery, he said Hi Samantha this is Jody and I hung up and blocked the number. My husband decided to call back. I paid $625 cash app. Before I left he asked if I could do 5 good reviews for him and he'd throw in more towards my resume package. I left the meeting in the office and went to my car (less than 10 mins) and called Jody and told him I changed my mind due to speaking with my parents and wanted a refund so I could take more time to see if I wanted him to work on my resume. When I asked for refund he told me no because 'he already sent the money to his writers' and told me I was wasting his time. I said I didn't want it to get to court and he said he didn't care due to his father being a judge and his brother being a lawyer and hung up on me. He never answered any of my return calls kept dismissing them with the message 'can I call you later' and when I asked for refund from cash app since no services were rendered, Jody declined the refund! I went to get my resume done at Career Pro based off of google reviews. As Jody was talking to me he never would look me eye to eye his head was always down looking at papers on his desk, so that upset me and I told him to look me in the eye man to man and that he was acting rude while talking to me and I didn't appreciate how he was acting. This place is a joke and very pricey he would start out $2,500 and will allow you to negotiate it down to about $1,800 please please please don't use this business to have your resume written there are plenty of other good places to get your resume done at a much cheaper price. I actually created an account for the sole purpose to report this company and warn everyone to STAY AWAY from them. I also warn you this is going to be a VERY LONG post...but I want to keep it detailed because I want people to see what this person does. On 9/11/20, I came to the conclusion that I needed a change in my job position and decided that I needed to have someone work on my resume. I logged into CareerPro's website and saw how professional it looked. On top of that, I noticed that they had been featured on WSB, V-103 and the AJC. So, I thought that this place was legit and scheduled an appointment. I should have read Yelp...but I decided to give the company a chance. Within 5 minutes of me submitting my information online, I received a call from Jodi. He let me know we could schedule an appointment on 9/14/20. Things seemed fine. However, some red flags started popping up. The first came on 9/13/20 when Jodi called me at 9pm to confirm that we were indeed good to go for the 14th. A 9pm call seemed a little late and really seemed odd on a Sunday. Regardless, I passed it off as just someone being super prepared and let it be. I then arrived for the meeting. Have you ever walked into a location and just said to yourself 'something feels off...'? Well, that is what was going on with my 'Spidey-Sense.' Turns out I was right. Jodi is a fast talker. He is a wheeler and dealer. He quickly reminded me of a used car salesman who is trying to sale the worst car on the lot to you. But, I let him do his sales pitch. Here were the issues: 1) Every one of his 'success stories' were between the years of 2005 - 2012. I tried to inquire about the 8 year 'success gap' and he breezed through the question - citing that he 'had thousands' during this time. (Red Flag!) 2) He asked me how I knew about the company and I told him that I had seen an article on WSB about them. He then told me he has never been on WSB-TV. But, on their website it clearly says they were featured on WSB-TV and I did some research and found that they had in fact been mentioned on the station. (CRIMSON RED FLAG!) 3) He gave me about a 45 minute sales pitch and it really didn't make any sense. He showed me four different resumes. He looked at mine and told me that two pages were just too much. But, all the resumes he showed me he created had two pages. He then told me that my formatting was wrong...but my formatting was the EXACT SAME as the paperwork he showed me. 4) He showed me some booklet about getting around 'landmine' questions in an interview in today's world. The booklet was copyrighted 1991. I asked him about that and stated that it seemed a little odd that the info he was showing me was outdated by almost 30 years. He tried to assure me that the questions that are asked in interviews are the same that were asked 30 years ago (Note: I have a Masters in Human Resources and I know that is outright false!). 5) He finished his sales pitch and then we started talking about price. He gave me three different resume builds to choose from. I ultimately picked the middle option. He asked me if I had done any research about pricing resumes. I thought that was a rather odd question to ask. In fact, it made me think about the companies website and I immediately remembered no pricing on their site. I decided to play stupid and say 'No.' That is when he tried to whammy me. He started telling me how he was going to give me all these extra deals and even at one point said 'but wait there's more!' He finished his speal and told me that for just a mere $2850 I could have all these wonderful things. I had to ask him to repeat the total because I honestly thought I misunderstood. Nope...he said $2850. He immediately asked me how I wanted to pay. I shook my head and said that he was asking a lot of money. He responded back with 'well how much are we off by..I am guessing for someone like you we are off by like $200.' I blinked at him and responded 'more like $1600.' He then started telling me we could take things off the table and maybe we could come to a deal for $500 on the beginning option of the resume options. This is when things got interesting. I looked at him and told him the following 'Well, you have given me a lot to think about (he had...he spent 45 minutes talking to me with me maybe saying 10 words total). How about this (I stood up and walked over to his desk and grabbed his card), I will take your card and I will call you.' Jodi wasn't having it. He started telling me I was focusing too much on the price. Then he made a rather snide comment of wasting his time if I was too poor for his services. I repeated that I had his card and I would call him. I walked out of the office with this guy following me trying to tell me to 'reconsider.' Just met with Jody and I do not find him to be a credible source as it relates to resume work. My first phone call with him, he insisted that I meet face-to-face and then he requested that I bring a check or some form of payment with me without discussing a price range based on my needs. Against my better judgement, I decided to go meet with him and found that Career Pro is not listed anywhere outside of the building and once I found the suite, the company name isn't even listed on the door inside the suite. He obviously rents an office inside of a suite for business. After he was almost 20 minutes late, he finally arrived and began pitching outdated services to me, still avoiding the price. Once I mentioned costs, he began offering complimentary services on top of his packages. I ended up cutting the meeting short as he was still attempting to push his services on me. It's all over the place, rushed and inaccurate. I took hours to complete a questionnaire, paid $1400 and received a product that was... so poor in quality that I was ashamed to share. Jody is a talker. I thought it was a style but it's a way to through you off. You have to listen to what he is not telling you and that's that he is inadequate at delivering corporate level resumes which he himself admitted directly on our call. "I agree you did not get a corporate level resume". He tried to blame the rushed work on a) an employee with a special needs child being unable to complete the work b) the density of my work and work history and c) "not every writer works for the candidate". I get the last part. I do not understand why he would say such things about his employees, lacking any accountability for the time constraints he placed on these writers and then using their personal lives as an excuse. Mind you, I turned in my answers Thursday early evening and did not receive word until Monday late afternoon. I fully agreed to pay for the writers work (an agreeable $200 for market value) yet he continues to deny any wrong doing. I have worked in customer service based jobs for over 15 years. In my experience, I have never encountered someone such as Jody. I see over 200 reviews on google giving 4.5 stars yet between them are rare one star reviews and I can honestly say, those are the ones to read. I made a mistake when hiring Jody and team to write me a corporate level resume (or any to be honest). I wish I could assign negative stars. Jodi Gothard is a fraud and a thief! First of all he was late for our meeting. Then when he showed up he made grandiose promises of how he would help me get another job making so much more money than what I am making now by using a resume from one of his "award winning" writers. He then applied strong armed sales tactics to get me to purchase his service. After we negotiated a price he asked for immediate payment. When I told him I wanted to pay via credit card and informed me he only accepted cash or check. RED FLAG! He followed me downstairs to the ATM to wait for his money. I paid him half the price that day and mailed a check for the rest two days later (he immediately cashed the check). I then received my first edited version of my resume a few days later and there was one section added to my resume (Career Accomplishments) and it was reformatted. I was then asked to provide more information about previous positions. I did this and here is where things stalled out. It took over a month to get a hold of Jodi. I am emailing him and calling him. When he answers the phone he tells me he will get to it right away and then I hear nothing and I call back again. This went on for a full month. Ridiculous! I finally get lucky and he tells me he will implement the information I sent over about previous jobs. It turns out that all he does is copy and paste exactly what I sent him. NEGATIVE STAR!!!! Jody Gothard, President of Career Pro Resumes is a scammer. First let me start if with my first call to the company. He answers and basically jumps into advertising himself. I asked if he could just help me with a basic resume, because I will be graduating this year. He responds yes, I've helped people get jobs for $$$$$$$. So then I ask, "what is the starting price for a basic resume?" Jody replies with another story about one of his clients. I thanked him and told him I will be in touch. He then replies just come in we can discuss prices, I can give you a discount on cover letters etc. I never asked for any of that stuff, just so you know. I reply it's ok I will be in touch. So he says "ok let's set up an appointment for next week, because I have worked with a lot of people who have moved up in positions." At this time I was ready to get off the phone because he was pushy and ignore my first question.... how much????So I went on and said yes. The day before my appointment he text me at 7pm to confirm our meeting. I didn't pay attention to who it was and thought it was someone else I had to meet. Long story short he calls me the day of our meeting 30 minutes before to confirm. I said could you please tell me who this is again. He does; immediately I apologize thinking that he was someone else. I told him that I can't make it. He gets short and start pushing for an answer, to see if I'm coming or not. After I already said no. I tried to say I can't..... before I could finish JODY HUNG UP ON ME!!! Forget you JODYYYY!!!!!! Enough said don't use him. He just wants your money. If I could give Career Pro Resumes and Jody negative stars I would. I opted to NOT go with his company for updating my resume as he started to call me from a "No Caller ID" number soon after I engaged with him to discuss setting up an appointment. I opted not to go with him as the conversation made me feel as though I was talking to a used car salesman and his request to only bring cash, Venmo, cash app, etc. ( NO CREDIT CARD), and his dismal reviews on YELP...i decided that Jody was not someone I was going to collaborate with to update my resume. After a barrage of angry text messages from him about him making "sacrifices" and other choice language...I finally said to him "please do not call or text my number again or it will be considered harassment and reported to the police". Text messages from his visible number stopped but it is now well after midnight and I have received a call then hang up from the no caller ID every hour. DO. NOT. USE. JODY. I filled out the application and put my available time was 11-5 Mon-Fri, he called that night at 9:15 PM! When I told him it was late and could we talk during my scheduled time, he tried to still get me to come in to the office. The next morning he called from a BLOCKED number numerous times, early in the morning before 11 and after 5. When I finally answered this BLOCKED call, one morning before 11, I asked him why he didn't stick to the times I'm available. I requested those times because I am recovering from surgery and that time is ideal for me. He made me sit outside his office with a mask on. I didn't mind wearing a mask, but sit outside his office and yell to answer questions, weird to me. He never really asked about my old resume(which I brought). He sent me home with a long questionnaire. Now how about we work on it together. I should of ran out of there, but didn't. I gave him $400 and went home. Now I just quit my job and also had several personal things going on at the time. The questionnaire was in depth and lengthy. Questions that I did not know how to answer. I just paid him, shouldn't he be doing this leg work for me/working on it together? I finally got a rough draft and sent it over. He sent me back a draft and said make changes in there (PDF). Now I. have a Mac and he has a PC. I told him I could make the changes in goggle Docs. That I can't promise that it will transfer over. I said can't you fix this on your end? He said he had no idea how to do that. Didn't I just pay you $400? And don't you supposedly write resumes for a living? Don't waste your time or money! I was "sold" on Jodi's product before I went for my consultation and was ready to plunk down the cash (He only takes cash or check! What legit business in this day and age doesn't take credit cards?!?) but he quickly unsold me with his extremely pushy sales pitch. We had an appointment time of 12:30 but he was running 15 minutes late and then took phone calls and other clients while he was meeting with me. The time he did spend with me was and endless stream of pushing other people's resumes in front of me and telling me how much more money they were making now. He asked me a total of 3 closed ended questions; I wasn't there to hear about his other clients, I was there to talk about what I needed (and was willing to pay for if he could provide it). When I finally got a word in, it was after he asked if I was ready to pull the trigger. I told him no and he immediately assumed my objection was price. I tried to give him an opportunity to save the sale and told him flat out that it had nothing to do with price but with his lack of interest in my needs as the client and he got angry and started yanking all of his samples away and shoving them in his desk. I still tried to give him an opportunity and left it with a possible follow-up the next week. He called me at 8:15 the night of a holiday to "confirm" the appointment. When I met with mister Jody, I went based of off the the nearly perfect ratings on google website thinking he would meet my expectations. When I arrived to his office he asked me if I was vaccinated which i said no and sat me on the chair literally outside of his office where every passing employee can hear my business. DON'T DO IT I called the company on a referral and wish now that I had listened to my instincts and not used Jody.He used high-pressure tactics to get money up front, and then "no pressure" tactics to deliver. I sent a questionnaire and didn't get a single follow-up question or call. Jody talked about printed resumes and how important they are to hiring managers. (That's not so true these days.) He didn't fully understand what executive core qualifications (ECQs) are, and that should have been alarming. He was vague about pricing and asked what I could pay. I should have asked for his promises in writing. He promised (1) resume, (2) review of current ECQs, (3) 25 resume brochures, (4)interview consultation. For $1,000, I got a resume. My name was wrong. I got a resume with Thomas-Jones instead of Toomer-Jones; and I never got the brochures. I asked Jody for them. I once had a professor in grad school tell me to either serve as an example or a WARNING to others. In this instance, I will serve you as the latter. I approached this company a year ago for help with a federal resume. It cost $850 (yes, $850), and it resulted in ZERO calls back. They repackaged a resume I gave them (two pages), and turned it into an eight-page document, with no value. I believed they'd coach me through the federal hiring process (they didn't). All of the negative reviews below are correct - pushy, copies and pastes information from your questionnaire into your "new" résumé, answers the phone multiple times during your appointment, focuses on other people's résumes and not yours and your needs. AGAIN, ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE CORRECT. He originally quoted me almost $2,000 for the same package I ended up paying $500 for and still have not received. This man is a thief and will not even be the one to write your résumé as he will pass it off to one of his other writers. I've even had to threaten legal action for this and still have not received what I paid for. Next step is court. It's been two months since I've heard from Jody and I still do not have a completed résumé, completed cover letter (which I've been told multiple times by him to edit myself), printed résumés or thank you cards. read more

I arrived "a little early" for my appointment...no issues with that. Jody finally came out to the lobby...15 mins late...to say "Hello" and that he was going downstairs and would be right back. Got into his office about 20 mins after my scheduled time...and Jody went into full "sales tactic". He did not have my resume in front of him, (I gave him a copy I brought with me). He went over all of the past experiences he had and want great jobs he was able to get for others...completely did this again and then I had to stop him and tell him to "stop selling yourself" His phone rang...he answered it...and then excused himself to go to the lobby to help another person.... Came back...and the phone rang again...he just looked at it for a while then put it down. Again, he went over his past accomplishments and still I had to stop him and tell him why I was there...he never "interviewed me"...did not seem to care why I was there...just was concerned if I was going to "hire him" that day. Was very put out when I told him I would fill out his questionnaire and we set up our next visit in a week...when I would bring back the questionnaire. Again. he started with the sales pitch... There were a few other issues...but I don't need to waste my time here with those issues...bottom line...I sent him an email later in the day to cancel any further meetings...and thanked him for his time. Soon after I hit send on the email...I received (4) "no caller ID" phone calls...back to back. Not sure who was trying to call me...but I have a feeling I know... :) :) I am not saying anyone should see Jody or not...just wanted to present the facts on my initial visit... Wasn't really sure what to expect when I set an appointment with CareerPro Resumes. I hadn't used a resume service before and I knew my resume was lacking. It had a good amount of information and work experience on it but nothing popped. I've been working with Jody at CareerPro for the last few weeks and I'm glad I opted to use his services. Because of the kind of vetting that Jody did with regards to my work history my resume is now filled with quantifiable accomplishments and looks much more professional that it used to. In my opinion , this was a slow and frustrating process that did not include a interview either by phone or in person. Would not quote a price, in advance of a rushed up short meeting that included a high pressure sales job. Follow your instinct here. read more

I met with Jody this morning and it was a combination of absolute nonsense and bullying sales tactics. When I called to schedule the appointment the first question I asked was about his pricing, his response was there was no way to quote me anything until he saw how much work my resume needed. This seemed fair so I made an appointment. He called me 4 times to "confirm" and make sure I knew where his office was which was pretty off putting. The meeting began oddly, he didn't stand when I entered his office and never really made eye contact. He took several phone calls and even commented on a divorced clients "b*tch ex wife" In the 30 minutes I was there he literally asked one question about what I did for work, nothing about what I wanted or hopes to achieve with a new resume. He then went into a clearly rehearsed spiel spouting off unsupported statistics about salary increases his resumes have gotten past clients. He went on and on about his award winning writing career and how distinct his resume packets are. He also has a clear pricing structure ranging from$600-2500 depending on what folder you pick. It is just as ridiculous as it sounds. This man is a dinosaur. He offers you 25 printed resumes and prewritten thank you notes. When I explained that no one requests printed resumes anymore and that I would need a good looking digital file he seemed stumped. I was put off by the price because he was clearly out of touch with current technology and standards. He even admitted he didn't know how to market himself in "today's world". I told him I appreciated his time and that I needed some time to think about his offer and make the best decision. He immediately began hustling, changing prices, and asking for money. I began to feel unsafe. He was aggressive and even resorted to mocking me when I explained that I did not have the cash flow to pay that amount for a paper resume. Jody Gothard, who also goes by the name of Yaacov Gothard, charged me $1,550 for a resume, cover letters and "ongoing coaching" services, November 2016. He left to take a trip to Louisiana following our meeting after cashing my check. I never met with him again. I received a half-finished resume full of typos delivered by his associate, Heidi Marsh, via email after several weeks of constant follow-up. The resume was never completed. The services were never delivered. I've tried to recover my money without success. I would like to advise anyone seeking a resume service to AVOID Career Pro. read more

This is not a resume service that will help anyone further their career (besides the fact that they have a resume)- this is simply a service where the consumer's information is cut and pasted into already completed resumes, denying the consumer of any individuality, and ignoring requests. The pricing is also misrepresented and misleading. You are given astronomical prices for varying resumes, and then coerced into giving a cost you can afford or agree to- which is then the final cost. The pricing given is completely arbitrary. After being quoted prices around $1,000, I suggested what I had been quoted by another service. The difference between CareerPro and the other service was that the other service would have made me a resume from scratch that was personalized and individualized to my taste. I regretted agreeing to the resume. I called back the same day, he said he would call me right back. He didn't until two days later (after I called him both days). I was told my resume had already been sent to his "writers" when he advertises that your resume is written by an "award winning author" (him). Another lie if it is being written by others. I told him I wanted no bullet points, and a very simple resume format that started with my education. The resume I received had arrows along the side, started with "profile" when I did not want that format or look at all. When brought in to change it, I was rushed because he had other appointments waiting. It was clear he had not created my resume but cut and paste my name, education, and employment history into another completed resume. I even had to point out job experience that wasn't mine. He also only had one type and color resume paper. A resume service should have more than one option. read more
