My mom, although I'll with copd and having limited mobility, was relying on the care till her cna came at 9 a.m. It was going ok, however, my mom didn't like the idea that the aide was only sitting around and not doing anything. My mom tried to have a conversation with aide, but aide being on her phone, only responding with yes, uhhum, and no. Mom thought as an aide she could help with laundry and light cleaning. We started this and then all of a sudden the aide had gotten another client and was not going to be able to help out. Is it a coincidence that right after she was asked to do laundry, all of a sudden, she is no longer available. The elderly get used to a routine, and to suddenly stop service is not ok. We found out on a Friday that a new person would be starting on Monday. It's not cool at all. That is not a way to run a business, especially when it involves the elderly. We ended up canceling the service, and it took a long time to get our refund. In my opinion Elizabeth Home Care is more interested in the money they can make off their clients, than the actual comfort and well being of the most vulnerable of the population. Shame on them.

They can't administer his medications he needs 5 times a day. After the Key took over from Companions and home makers their prices kept increasing. They don't pay their caregivers enough yet they keep increasing the prices. They told me it was due to wage increases in CT. That increase is less than one dollar per hour. yet rates per hour increased almost five dollars. For day care their caregivers are excellent but they need to pay them better.

I felt our concerns, like abuse, disrespect towards my family members, and possible theft were interpreted as "whiny complaining". No matter which agency you go with, they are all the same as far as the aide who comes into your home. I feel bad for those who don't have children to look in and watch out for them while an aide is in the home. It is better than a nursing home environment in some respects, however, you need to be proactive and not expect the agency will do it all. Please lock up all valuables in a safe, lock box, or hidden somewhere. When we had some wonderful aides at home under this agency, I felt confident that my family was cared for. My aunt has now passed and Barbara's few months of aiding to my aunt's needs has added more stress to my family. She hand wrote hours to be paid and harassed my mom who was the executor. Telling my mom my aunt would still be alive if we didn't hospitalize her and keep her in Barbara's care. There were other condescending and hurtful things said too. We paid Barbara for what she asked even though the times and dates didn't seem justified. I also cared for my aunt. So much was deceiving and it wasn't worth our time to fight this person. End of life is difficult enough. Barbara added unnecessary stress to my aunt and emotional pain to our family during an already sad time. In my opinion, her heart and passion do NOT lie with her clients.
