I've been coming to Family Medical Center for almost the better part of a decade now. I am, for the…read moremost part, fairly healthy with room for improvement (especially dietary-wise). However, I don't typically have a ton of health issues that require ongoing and frequent care. That being said, in the handful of times in which that has changed due to whatever health concerns arisen, this practice has been pretty good about ensuring that I get the most optimal treatment or referrals to specialists for treatment possible. I've been very fortunate that my experience with this practice has been primarily a positive one. Though, I do take some gripe with the fact that we don't alway get to see our primary care doctors due to scheduling and usually have to opt to see a nurse practitioner in their place. It's not the end of the world, but it is common practice especially if something comes up prior to the traditional annual we receive. Beyond that, even with the nurse practitioner, I've still had really great interactions with ALL the staff that have aided in my care. So, for as long as I'm a resident of Orange County, I'll be keeping this practice as my go-to primary health care. I must note, that health is a deeply personal journey and it is not always the easiest finding health practitioners that are truly working towards ensuring that you are not only healthy, but that also seek to ensure you maintain that health (or help you get to that point). I sympathize with any and everyone, that have had negative experiences (even here - as my mom has been one to have a negative experience and no longer comes to this practice). I understand, that, as I a noted, I have been very fortunate that my care here has been very positive and I pray it remains as such. I wish nothing but positive journeys to all looking for a practice to call home for their health care. And if it happens to be Family Medical Center like it is for me, then so it is! And if not, that is okay because there are other practices and I wish the best of luck in that search. As a quick note, before I close this out, they do have two offices right next door to each other. Both have labs, so, if you need lab work, they can perform it in either office. It's pretty convenient. Their main office is larger but their smaller one, is newer. It was once a banking institution if my memory serves me well, that they eventually acquired and gutted to turn into a medical office building. Hence, their close location to the main office.

Plus, I wanted a practice closer to home as I was tired of the 30-minute commute. Based on the 4 and 5-star reviews I read, I decided to give this location a try. I was greeted warmly by the staff, and I stated I had both Medicare and Florida Blue supplemental insurance. The receptionist stated Dr. DeVoursney was accepting new patients. I also wanted to try a Doctor of Osteopathic given I'm in very good health and was looking for a physician that practices a holistic approach to healthcare and prevention, rather than treating disease or conditions. I was given an appointment date and various documents to complete to transfer my records to this location. On my second visit, I needed assistance in completing all the paperwork correctly. On this date, I got a 5-star employee named Shaquanda Sanders at the Front Desk. She was very friendly and welcoming and was quite knowledgeable on the paperwork process. She walked me through the questions I had, provided examples of how to fill out certain sections and was a joy to work with. She made me so comfortable and made the process a breeze. If Shaquanda is just one example of the caring and competent staff at this Center, I'm very much looking forward to my first appointment with Dr. DeVoursney in the Fall.

My first mistake in moving to Florida was choosing this practice for my healthcare needs. My…read moresecond mistake was reading YELP reviews on this practice for their other locations they have and thinking well it will be different at the Semoran Blvd practice. I made a new patient appointment with Dr. Felipe Lugo at Family Physicians Group. I know that the later you make an appointment in the day the longer you wait since Doctors tend to run behind. I choose the first AM appointment once they opened up at 8:30 am thinking I wouldn't necessarily have a wait. Boy was I wrong. Once I was in the patent exam room, I still waited an hour to see the Doctor. I specifically told the Nurse and the Dr, Lugo that I was only there for a new patient physical and NOTHING else. This is because my employer provides a financial incentive into your HSA account to help offset your annual deductible for annual physicals. Both the Nurse and the Physician acknowledge and said they understood the purpose of my visit. Low and behold I get my bill and it was not billed as a physical leaving me with a copay and loosing my financial incentive. I have called the office multiple times and constantly get a busy signal or they will answer and say please hold and immediately put you hold for several minutes. I've left messages with the front desk to ask the Nurse to call me back so they can send the appropriate notes to the Billing Dept but after three attempts asking the Nurse to call back and NOT receiving a return call I've given up. Multiple calls to billing result in the same "busy signal" and the one time I actually did get them I was told the billing codes come from the Physicians office so they can't help. Basically, this practice is way too big to run efficiently. They have over a dozen locations so they have grown so much that they are to inefficient to run an operation. In addition I have been on a medication for years that is quite common and is handled by a Primary Care Physician. The medication does require blood work every 3 months. The doctor didn't seem to understand why he needed to do blood work for this medication every 3 months and I had to educate him on the reason why. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I try to not ever write heinously bad reviews but this place has earned it. I have been coming here…read morefor years, which is my mistake, I will own. Mostly because it's close to my house and they take my insurance, which had been the only reasons why I continued to come to this joke of a doctor's office. First, whenever they actually properly schedule an appointment, you never go in around the time that it's actually scheduled. It's always an hour or so after your appointment is actually scheduled. It takes a month to actually get an opening for God knows what reasons. Good luck if you are sick, you might die or heal quicker than you can actually get into this place. The receptionists are always unfriendly and/or even rude. Once you are inside the room waiting for the doctor, it takes 15 + minutes for the doctor to actually enter the room. Once there, he spends about 4 minutes with you making you feel more like an inconvenience than anything. Every. Single. Time. This most recent visit, I debated even returning but since I am moving out of state in a week, I didn't want to find a new doctor. I have had a wrist problem for over a week and called on Tuesday, February 14 at 9:40am and spoke to someone for 2 minutes (as indicated on my phone records) and she scheduled me for 1pm that Friday with a brand new doctor (shocker). When I arrived at the scheduled time, one person sat in the waiting room. That's it. As I spoke to the receptionist, Maggie, to check in, she informed me that I did not have an appt. She asked me who I spoke with, to which I responded that I couldn't remember her name. She said they don't keep records of phone calls so there was no record that I had called, even though I showed her my record. I asked her if they could sneak me in or do anything for me since they dropped the ball. She said all the doctors were fully booked. Let's remember that there was one person in the waiting room. ONE. She told me I could go to urgent care if I wanted or wait to speak to a nurse. I waited to speak to a nurse. The nurses name is Jessica and she was kind but just told me the same thing. She also said I could speak to an office manager on Monday. No thanks, I will go get the proper service elsewhere. I'll also mention that they have given me three doctors in 5 years. 3! When I lived in Michigan, I had the same physician since I was young throughout early adulthood. Please refrain from using this location. They do not actually care about helping people and are ludicrously incompetent. I did get upset and cry, but I have been in pain for over a week and their indifference was truly awful.
