Turn 65 in March, 2025 and qualified to sign up for a Medicare Advantage Plan in early January, outside of the normal sign up period. Care plus did send me an ID card, which the postal service was nice enough to mis-deliver or lose (I have informed delivery so I know it was coming). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Called Care Plus customer service on 1/3, 1/16, and 1/26/25 to request a replacement card. They couldn't find the first call, admitted to dropping the ball on the second, and promised on the last call that the card was mailed 1/16[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Here it is, 1/31/25 and no card. I could have walked to their HQ and back in the time it has taken them to lose me as a customer. Imagine what it would mean if I needed medical assistance or approval. Went with another plan. This HMO offers many benefits but they make it harder to use them every year. I'm done arguing and spending all day on the phone to try to reach their providers. I was in the hospital 2 times in July due to poor hospital care. And an infection by their sketchy provider procedure. I never got my meals delivered after 2nd discharge. Stay away! Been calling since 02/01/24 for a Dexcom 6 prescription and today I was on the phone since 8:00 am till now. Requested a supervisor and after 45 minutes on hold I was transfer to be told it was a human error on their part. Prescription was written by my endocrinologist on 01/29/24. No empath, talk to different representatives and each one had different information in regards why my prescription was not approved even when I'm diabetic, I just can't believe the struggle with this health insurance Care Plus. I just enrolled in a care plus Medicare plan. I called for my member ID number they told me they could not give me that over the phone because of some them from giving you my information. this company is so dysfunctional. I was told I had vision care and so I went to care plus website called the first for a doctors listed and them ever heard of care plus. I called customer service they told me I should've said that I have this coverage to AFLAC, how was I supposed to know that?? Anyway, she gave me the address and phone number of a place near me to go to. I made the appointment and went, and they could not find anything at AFLAC Humana or Caplis. I ended up paying $118 for the exam $410 for the glasses. When I got home, and this was five days ago, I emailed CarePlus asking for clarification, and hopefully some reimbursement. This is the worst health insurance I have ever encountered. I recently injured my right ankle. I went to the emergency room. There were no brakes. However there was severe soft tissue damage. I was told to then go to my primary care and get a referral for orthopedic podiatrist. They suggested using the same one who had done surgery on me 5 years prior. No dice out of network. So I now have to go back to my primary care Dr and have his staff write up another referral.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Well this is way to much to expect from a 65 year old who is unable to drive due to this injury. If I could give a negative 1 rating I would. I am a retired nurse and paramedic with a BA in healthcare management and Masters in Leadership in human services. I spent 30 years in healthcare both as a clinician and in management. This healthcare plan was sold to me by a lying slick salesman over the phone that promised me my doctors were on the plan. I can't go into all of the substandard healthcare practices and deception that this company practices but I would recommend everyone STAY AWAY FROM THIS HEALTH PLAN. The majority of clinicians on their list are not taking this insurance anymore and the ones that are are not rated very high by patients. Dont let the 5/5 star rating fool you. That is not a patient rating but a Medicare rating based off MCR criteria services they claim are included in their plans and cost of plans. read more

I work for a medical office and called trying to get authorization for physical therapy. After being on hold for 30 minutes someone answers. I explain that I work for Dr. Smith and am trying to get physical therapy authorization for a mutual patient. The representative asked me if it was capitated or not. I told her that I am not sure what capitated means. Then she hangs up the phone... How do people get away from this. I asked others in the office if they have had similar experiences. They all said that everyone that they talk to acts like they hate their job and don't want to talk to you. If possible I would avoid this company for your health insurance needs. read more

I have been with careplus for 3 years and have never had an issue. I have no idea of what the bad reviewers are talking about. Plenty of PCP and specialists at least in Pasco County. I just had major soldier surgery and cost me a total of 110 dollars. Never got denied anything. read more

Called and asked where I could get my glasses they offered just 2 places near me called in Dec. 2018 both places offered me an eye exam for 2019, so went to Wal Mart and paid for my eye exam & glasses. Used my wife's insurance and only had to pay $89 out of my pocket, submitted the bill to Care Plus and was told the check was in the mail, called 4 weeks later and was told sorry we made a mistake no check was mailed file for your reimbursement again which I did, now they say sorry you waited to long to file the claim. I have had excellent customer service when calling them to change or update something. My out of pocket isn't crazy. I use my medical services monthly as I have several chronic health issues. Just seriously lacking in the customer service area, lack of direction. They allowed me to go to the wrong lab and then told me afterwards in a totally different phone call, that that body would not be covered cuz it was out-of-network. Serveral other issues had transpired as well. For example: no one, including my PCP when I went to see her, told me I could not longer just go see my established Nephologist. I now had to get the referral of my PCP selection, then they would in turn send it in to insurance, then they would send an authorization. I was brand new to the program and nobody went over how an HMO worked. Then my PCP severely disappointed me, by shutting her responsibility and when I reported it had been X amount of days and I was not getting any relief from the prescribed medication, she told me to go to an urgent care they could prescribe me something else. I was appalled, needless to say. They whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend the program, for lack of organization. read more
