And here today to get a new one put on for the next two weeks. 2 weeks ago when they put the monitor on me to wear. I realize it's something you don't just get use to wearing. I was always wondering what readings of my heart it is transmitting. It's stressful in itself. But it is what was necessary to get to the bottom of why I am having multiple silent strokes. There is only one review for this place. I personally have not had any issues with billing or any doctors coming in my 2 visits. My bill is clear and correct. The doctors and nurses have listened to me when I share how I been feeling between appointments. In the hospital they couldn't give me an explanation of anything that could be triggering my body. Since my first visit here, and this review bring my 2nd visit. I feel confident some type of explanation will be found. I used valet for the 2nd time. They charge the same fee as the parking lot directly across the street. But you spend couple more dollars for tip. It's worth it, considering the parking lot fills up fast with people that work in the area. Melissa who put the transmitting device on me is extremely nice and great at her job. Since I've had choices of which location I wanted to go to. I'm glad I picked this office.

They claim I called in and supplied them with bogus insurance info. Not true, I never heard of these people nor had any idea they were involved in my surgery, so why would I ever call them? On their bill, no date of service, no doctor name, just an amount of $128.00 overdue by 30 days. If you wanna get paid..... try billing correctly! DUHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Once I got to the receptionist sign in desk. I was promptly welcomed and checked in with no problems. It was one of the quickest Dr office check in I think I ever had as a first time visitor. Got my vitals checked and waited for the Neurologist to come to my room. This took approximately 10 mind. Not bad at all. And the in depth talk we had about my TIA event was very good. She listened to everything and asked additional questions of my situation to understand clearly what I went through before giving ideas of what we should try . When I was in the hospital in Nov. No one could give me a clear understanding of what my body was going through, and that was the same for seeing my primary doctor. So for the first time I feel like I have a understanding of what happens to the body before a stroke. Of course there's no scientific facts they can tell me. But to have a understanding alone is helpful. I'm glad I chose this place

While this Hospital may have very good doctors the neurology department at 10 Plum Street in my…read moreexperience is sorely lacking in terms of its professionalism and sensitivity to medical information. My HIPAA protected medical information was treated with no regard by the administrative staff and the physician assistant who actually took it from me ( specifically CDs of MRIs from previous hospitals). I was advised that my medical records would be mailed to me with the presumption that my medical information would be handled with sensitivity . Instead, beyond completely neglecting to return my CDs .. (after a month and a half they were never returned to me) ,they advised me they would send it out regular mail. I have to ask rhetorically who would handle such sensitive information with such carelessness and disregard? After several phone calls and emails I was completely ignored and then when I went to speak to the Patient Experience Department in RWJ they did nothing to facilitate the return of my CDs. Instead I received phone calls from people who did not identify themselves or their position claiming that they was sent out when they weren't without any tracking information and no idea where my CDs actually went. If you want a good doctor go elsewhere. The staff is poorly trained and clearly has no customer service skills or knowledge how to handle HIPAA of protected medical information. Even when I emailed the neuro- surgeon to see where my CDs were , I was ignored. Completely unprofessional group of people. Someone is clearly not paying attention to things in this facility.

There are so many people to thank for getting us through this journey....Dr. Botros for his continual heart-felt checkups and GI expertise to help guide our decisions. He is the best! Dr. Beckerman for being the first person I got to speak with about how the emergency vascular surgery went and recovery. He made the right calls to help save a life. To May, Mel, Harry and all those in the ICU who provided kindness and took the time to comb hair or make our very stressful situation comfortable for our family. To Liana, Julianna, and Megan of 2 CORE who helped get the first steps in post surgery and encouraged us to keep focused on improvement. To Diane in Oncology who encouraged my nursing skills and personally took the wheelchair from the unit to the car because transport to head home would have cost us additional time that we could spend together at home. To Samantha and the Palliative care team for answering my early morning phone calls and helping set us up in the right direction with the right medications. I also want to thank the security woman in the ER who was patient with me as I unpacked all my digital devises from the backpack I'd been living in for 3 weeks while bringing a smile to my face and to the ER front desk for understanding the chaos of why my license wasn't available, having been tossed while in ICU. To the initial transport and security team who brought me the wallet and came back with the reading glasses they had forgot to handoff, thank you. Some things to know and expect: Parking - The older parking lot by the Emergency room entrance is often filled by 10am on a weekday. Weekends, you will typically get a space. The new cancer building across from the hospital has a brand new parking garage in the back. You can typically always find parking. If walking isn't a challenge for you, I'd park there. The first 3 or 4 floors have 3 hour parking and you have to move the car beyond that. All of the upper floors do not have a time limit. I'd recommend parking there, depending on your stay. There is also valet parking at this lot. It does take awhile for them to bring the car, but it costs less than $20 and is worth it for anyone with mobility issues. The elevator on the 3rd floor of the parking garage has a direct passage into the cancer building and if you stay left, you'll find the walkway into the hospital, which brings you to the 2nd floor of the hospital. You must check in on the first floor of the hospital. One desk is at the main entrance by the cancer center and the other is directly across from the elevator to the older garage, near the Starbucks. Make sure you ask to get your parking ticket validated as you check in for the visit. It reduces the parking fee from $20 to $6 This is a $14 savings, which adds up, considering how long the hospital stay may be. Food - There are two main areas in the hospital to eat. On the second floor is a cafeteria. There is a sandwich / panini area, a grill, pre-packaged sandwiches, a salad bar, and a full hot entree area to choose from. The prices are significantly more affordable than the local restaurants. The coffee is basic, but it's always hot. Starbucks is the other option. This is on the first floor, close to the O.R. waiting area and the entrance to the old parking garage. They do take the app for payment, but it can be chaotic for newer staff, so I wouldn't order anything too complicated. Outside of the hospital, you can walk to Efes for a decent Turkish meal or Mahmoud's is just around the corner. Tips - Carry your badge that you get at checkin with you at all times when in the hospital. You may find yourself walking the mile+ from the ICU to the Starbucks needing a snack and the glorified hall monitor will give you a hard time. The hallway into 2 CORE is an icebox (always bring a sweater). Other than that, have someone who can advocate for you and be present for all of the doctors and care team you may get. Take copious notes. Ask for things you need (bed rotations, sponge baths, extra pillows, a water pitcher and the location of the refreshment station, note the ordering times for food service on the menus, find where to take empty food trays post meals...etc). You will be cared for here and remember the nurses have at least 10 hour shifts that they are standing and working hard caring for their patients. Remember to treat them with care and that they are just people too.

Everyone has always been nice, but this current team is by far the best staff yet. Dr. Richard Schachter is awesome and truly cares about getting your wounds healed. He goes above and beyond, trying every possible option while others may immediately consider amputation. His dedication, compassion, and commitment to his patients are exceptional. Director Anna is professional, friendly, caring, and truly dedicated to her patients and staff. She follows through on concerns and patient needs and makes sure things get done. She works very well alongside Dr. Schachter and the nurses, creating a team environment where everyone communicates and supports each other. Her leadership and attention to detail help make the office run smoothly and make patients feel heard and cared for. Nurses Patty, Caroline, and Guercy are knowledgeable, compassionate, and work very well together. They communicate effectively about their patients' needs, which makes a huge difference in care. The front desk staff, Leslie and Nicole, are super nice, welcoming, and always accommodating with scheduling and patient needs. July in Hyperbaric is funny and always knows how to make you laugh. Somehow every conversation ends up being about food and guys, which always adds smiles and humor to the day. Her personality helps create a warm and enjoyable atmosphere. This team makes patients feel cared for, respected, and supported. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication!
