I know they also visit some of the bigger condo developments like The Flats in Southtown. The two women who run it are great at what they do! Friendly and attentive. Last weekend, I ordered a chili dog, but they were missing Fritos (boo!), she told me and asked if I wanted a substition. I declined, and she said the next meal was on her. Sure enough, last weekend I visited them again with the intentions of buying my food, but she had remembered and gave me my order on the house without me asking at all. Now the food. I've got to say, the poutine fries and curds are awesome. The fries themselves are a little limp and not my favorite, but the cheese curds are spicy and to die for. Works well with the poutine. I wish you could order just the cheese curds with poutine and leave off the fries. They have a good variety of burgers and hot dogs including Bacon Mac 'n' Cheese, Guacamole, Mushroom Swiss, chili, Poblano, queso jalapeño burgers. I can't speak for those, but I have had the Frito and chili dog and the Cream Cheese Sriracha dogs, and both were pretty good as far as hot dogs go! Nothing to write home about, but decent! It's worth a shot at least.

Just finished shoveling this food down my gullet and I couldn't be happier…read more To set the scene: we live 40 minutes away but I wanted to try El Meson Boricua ever since I saw a photo of their Puerto Rican-style Chinese spare ribs tips. Take all my gas because the drive was worth it. There's a big parking and a clean eating area for those who decide eat their food there. The young lady taking out was personable and helpful in answering questions. One of the owners, Carlos, offered a sample of their cuajito (stewed pork stomach), something my husband has been craving lately. It was marvelous and I began to have hope this would be a good portent of what was to come. They have the traditional PR menus but we settled on pernil (garlicky-roasted pork shoulder) and the spare ribs tips. Both came with two sides so we asked for arroz con gandules (rice w. pigeon peas), macaroni salad, and tostones (twice fried mashed green plantains). The total, with tip, was less than $35. The arroz con gandules is truly authentic. Properly colored and seasoned beautifully. I would've like a little more gandules as well as their flavor, but the rice is spot on. The pernil was a smidge dry, but tender and seasoned expertly. The rib tips had that PR Chinese flavor of season and a warmly spiced sweetness. The macaroni salad was a little curdled from whatever acid they use but was, as everything else, seasoned to the Gods. Finally, the tostones were some of the best I've had anywhere. They have a light pillowy texture after you bite through the crispy, almost flaky exterior. They were salted and drizzled with a green sauce that gave sofrito-chimichurri vibes. Carlos and Lucy are doing the damn thing out of this little truck. So far it's the best Puerto Rican food I've had in San Antonio AND Austin.

The al pastor was juicy and delicious, and one of the best I've had. The carne asada was good but I felt could've had more flavor to it. The quesadilla was hard to put down, also one of the best I've had. It was easy to place an order online and service was quickl upon arrival. There is some seating inside in a very casual setting. Highly recommend if you're craving some tacos!

In case you are craving tacos, Tacos El Takin will satisfy your craving but I do not consider them as ones that will draw you back in. Especially since there are 2 other taco places, I noticed, within the same block. Food: i went with family and we ordered Asada mini tacos and Campechano (mixture of 3 meats) mini tacos. The tacos came out freshly made and hot with onions, cilantro, and a creamy green sauce (maybe their version of guacamole, not spicy). Other salsas were available at the entrance. They both had a good spice to them. The tacos were full of meat and I did enjoy that it was chopped into very small pieces. I did not see much fat in them either, which I appreciated. We also got their agua fresca- Jamaica. It was very good. Service; The service was fast, friendly, and the staff answered all questions regarding the menu. Ambiance: They played music, mostly salsa. It was not loud and allowed for us to speak normally. The location of the restaurant was a little hidden, I thought the GPS had taken me to a closed location. Once we made the corner, we saw the well lit restaurant. There is an ok amount of parking. The tables were not sticky and appeared to be clean.

My wife and I use to frequent this place YEARS ago, the service was good and the food was good,…read moreyears later we decided to go back & mannn the food quality & service has went down terribly! Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck.
