Turns out I did in fact need that paperwork properly filled out in order to register this kayak. I mailed the paperwork back to the store two months ago, after posting this review, and one month ago they claimed to have mailed it back (I still have not received it). So unless this paperwork appears out of thin air, I'm left with a $1200 kayak I can't use how I want to. Even if it does magically appear, this will have been a frustrating waste of my time and money. I deeply regret my purchase.

It was a very weird day on the boat with Larry. How we got the reservation: We called and his wife…read moretook our reservation, she was super sweet. We let her know we wanted to fish for Reds. She said we would be fishing in the Everglades. Day of charter: We meet Larry, we climb on his boat and the first thing he does is ask if we have any different kind of shoes, that the black is going to scuff his boat up and he said a few bad words and made sure we felt an inch tall for not knowing. We've been on a few dozen charters, and no one has ever asked us to not wear dark soled shoes, so we genuinely had no idea. He was very rude about it and we told him we would just go bare foot, which we did the entire trip. On our trip out he said we were fishing for mackerel. Had we known this, we wouldn't have booked. We specifically asked for backcountry, it was the only reason we went with him because that's how he advertised. Backcountry, then his wife said that's what we would be doing. It takes about an hour to get to our spot, once we get there, he shows us how he wants us to use his poles. We've used these poles our entire life and we knew how to use them. BUT he would yell at us if we didn't do it exactly how he wanted. Three fingers on top, then the reel to a precise spot, pinch the line with the tip of your finger, no whipping the pole, and make sure to get the bell closed properly. That's literally how you had to do it every time or you would get scolded. I don't mind taking pointers, and his technique was helpful but the way he barked orders and scolded you if you did it wrong made me very nervous. Landed my first small Spanish mackerel. I've never fished with this guy so I didn't know how he liked to do things. Before with other guides they would have me hold it to the side of the boat or bring them in. I was already very nervous because I had been scolded so many times so I just didn't ask and I just left it in the water on the side until he was ready to take the hook out. He got his long metal hook puller and yelled "move back" before I even had a chance to move back, he shoved me hard with his hook puller, I stood there stunned because it really hurt and this guy actually shoved me. He is lucky my husband did not see him push me. And I'm not saying a little nudge, he full on shoved me. He would not speak to us. We always made the conversation. Only time he would say anything is if he was making fun of how " bad " we were even though we were landing fish. He gave me some pointers, but refused to help my husband with anything, and I even think he was baiting my husbands hook wrong on purpose so he would keep losing his shrimp. He would put half of shrimp on mine and a full one with most of it hanging off on my husbands, so when it hit the water the fish could rip it right off. I bet he baited that hook for my husband 200 times and then when my husband wasn't catching anything for hours, just told my husband wasn't fast enough, wasn't holding the pole right, wasn't casting right but then would give no feedback to note: . My husband has fished Kenai, Kasilof, creeks, oceans, rio grande, gulf of Alaska, and lakes all over the US. We are outdoorsman's, this wasn't our first rodeo. Funny enough i mentioned Yelp reviews at the end of our fishing trip, and he told me that those don't matter, people just pay to get them removed, but then all of a sudden he was baiting my husbands hook the correct way and my husband caught one fish after another....also, we weren't allowed to bait our own hook so that's why we didn't do it. As soon as we got in we were amazed. We swam with a Green Sea Turtle and an 7ft Eagle Ray. Plenty of beautiful fish around the boat. We wanted more time They were very personable, experienced, and honestly genuinely nice. They recommended dinner places around Marathon that were great. The Captain and First Mate were the best by far.

I experienced my first ocean dive through the Florida Keys Dive Center and thanks to them, my "mermaid experience" was even better than I imagined. We had a fantastic and knowledgeable captain and guides who took us to the best reefs! We saw gorgeous coral, a few nurse sharks and other small sharks, several rays and the ever elusive moray eel. The cost was around $80 per dive, not including tips. Tip your captain and crew please! They're deserving of it, I promise. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend giving them a call if you're looking to dive in the Florida Keys.

Travis caught so many ballyhoo with his netting skills that we were able to get to the fish before anyone. Capt Tony kept us on fish all day and maneuvered the boat perfectly to make sure we landed as many fish as possible. As an added plus, they were both fun to be around and made sure Emily and I were comfortable and having a great time. I did not see or hear of any other boat back at the dock with anything near what we had. This will not be the last time Capt. Tony sees us, for sure!
