Stew chicken, rice and beans, and nasty Mac & cheese

Food is nasty and has no taste. Doesn't taste like authentic Jamaican food. Barely had bean in my rice was over cooked and mushy. I would not recommend this to no one.

I really want to like this place, but 3 stars is being generous as it is. These aren't the warmest people ever, but they were pretty quick. I got the "lunch special", which is exactly 2 pieces of your choice of chicken on top of rice. The sauce was sweet and spicy, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I'd argue the rice was a little under-cooked. Overall, it was alright, but hardly worth $6 when, for $2 more, you can get another side and arguably more food with the normal platter? There's some heavy competition in the neighborhood, but if you're pressed for time and craving Caribbean food, I guess this will do the trick.

There are not many things that can make me stop mid-sentence and literally run across a busy street...except for a food truck sign with the words "$14 oxtail platters". My platter was everything I had hoped for. Super tender and flavorful oxtails, perfectly cooked cabbage, and cheesy baked macaroni and cheese. Portion is large enough to share but I won't be so get here and get your own!

Jerk chicken with rice and beans

I think this is the worst jerk chicken that I had and in additional the person making our food was not even paying attention to us when we placed the order and was busy on the phone. I never had a jerk chicken that taste like rotisserie chicken and if I did I think that would taste better than the jerk chicken here. We also ordered white rice and Mac n cheese but we got the rice with beans instead and that tasted bad as well. Paid $10 for some jerk chicken and wrong order and did not enjoy it one bit. Ate it half way and couldn't eat it anymore because of how it taste. Just going to take the lost. If you want some good jerk chicken, I would recommend Jamaican's D food truck and they taste super good and full of favors. Overall I would not get it from here ever again and it was a 0/5 for me honestly.

Great food! Owner is very nice. The food is freshly cooked daily! The portions are great. One of my favorite spots for jerk chicken.

Did truck move? It's gone, I wanted beef patties, wtf.

Not sure if they move around a lot but they're usually on Drexel's campus these days

Wow! I became aware of this restaurant, because one of my…read moredaughters said she wanted to visit this eatery during a planned trip to Philadelphia. I read reviews and they were somewhat mixed, but I put my faith in the Elites, who were on point. I ordered the fried fish, mac and cheese, and candied yams. The portions were enormous and more than I could eat alone. My daughter ordered the same sides, but had the bbq chicken bites, and an extra side of seafood salad. My fish was not greasy at all, and the cornmeal crust was light and crispy. It wasn't over seasoned and was delicious. The cinnamon and nutmeg in the candied yams were well balanced and reminiscent of a southern Thanksgiving dinner... a little sweet, but yummy nonetheless. The macaroni and cheese was also as Thanksgiving worthy and beyond. I tasted a chicken bite, and wished I had ordered those too... my eyes are truly bigger than my stomach lol. I liked the seafood salad, but if I lived in Philly, I would order it to accompany a great big mixed green salad. It holds its own and for me, doesn't need to be a side dish. It was an honor to visit Ms. Saud's restaurant, and contribute to her mission

Meanwhile, I could have added a few dollars more and received a whole meal with more meat and 2 sides at the original location! Like anyone who is truly passionate about food. Respect the process and she will be kind, funny, insightful and extremely pleasant. The fried chicken is INSANE. Ask for gravy. I get mine on the side. It's heavenly. Best collards, so fresh. Mac and cheese also off the chain and must order. Great catfish. Been meaning to try more on the menu, but I love what I've gotten so much that every time I'm there I want to get it again. CORNBREAD. Get cornbread. If it hasn't sold out (which it often does) This is a five star place if you are serious about food. If you don't like waiting and need some fake niceness when you're complaining like a punk then go to Crown or Popeyes. This is the real damn deal

As I said previously.. and as many reviewers confirmed.. these are the nastiest people on the face of this planet. They act as if they're doing you a favor by taking your money. Their attitude is beyond rude.. and I don't think the establishment is clean . Generally, I support black businesses.. but I cannot support this one. I even give businesses a second chance figuring that I may have been there during an off day. Years later, still the same nasty attitudes. Still questionable in maintaining sanitary practices. I don't recommend. If I could give them zero stars, I would
