To my mind, this is the only valid soul food place in Philly... and it's in Jersey. But I tried and tried and tried to find someplace in the city and nothing met the standards. So over the bridge I had to go. Corinne's is basically a "meat and two" type place. All of the mains that I've had have been great, except for the salmon croquettes, which were just okay. All of the sides are delicious. Standouts include the greens, yams, and mac. Cornbread used to be included, but now it's an add on (maybe $1.50). The cake slices are most definitely made from box mix, but they put that jello pudding in there, so they're moist and delicious. The peach cobbler is just alright. Closed on Mondays. And closed a little to early almost every day. Definitely call before you come if you're taking out -- the wait can be up to 45 minutes if they're busy.

While I don't think many dine in at Corinne's Place--looks like the dining room is used mostly for events, lured by its recent placement as #42/50 in Philadelphia Magazine and a recent James Beard award for regional food, we greatly enjoyed our dine-in experience. We decided to go with the Family Value Platter (3 meats, 3 sides) for $110.00 and after indulging, each couple came away with a to-go container of delicious soul food. The platter comes with two desserts (individually packaged) and we had a pitcher of sweet tea. Upon our server's recommendation, we tried the (1) fried chicken, (2) fried whiting, and (3) barbecue pork ribs along with (a) baked mac & cheese, (b) collard greens, and (c) rice & gravy. We also had a side of fried chicken wings, which turned out to be much like the fried chicken--not bad leftover, though--and some okra, corn & tomatoes, which had great flavor! The whiting is a delicate white fish and was terrific with a hit of Corinne's hot sauce (definitely ask for some if you like your food spicy!). The fried chicken was perfectly juicy and crispy. But the barbecue pork ribs won the meat game with fall-off-the bone, delicious BBQ sauced meat. My favorite sides were the baked mac & cheese and the collard greens--the latter were so tender! And the apple cobbler was sweet and cinnamon-y. I agree with Holly W., I did wish there was less plastic used, at least for those dining in, but I'm sure we'll reuse the platter for a potluck down the line!

I was unaware Corrines was undergoing renovations when we decided to go. We were ushered to a large tent , equipped with heat lamps , and seated . It was a cold windy day. The tent was warm initially but it got pretty cold out there pretty quickly. Now for the good part .... The food was excellent . The portions were generous . The server was very friendly. I ordered fried chicken, collard greens and sweet potatoes (they are not candied , it's a tender sweet potato) ... and a side of catfish. My entree was very good but the catfish was EXCEPTIONAL. My husband ordered fried whiting , Mac and cheese and okra . He enjoyed his meal as well. I will definitely be back ... after the renovations

My hubby and I dined here on a Sunday evening, which is open buffet day... I am not a fan of buffet style eating because I don't like the idea of random people picking over food that I may be eating BUT Corinne's buffet is staffed and only her team handles the food AND they keep it covered when they are not serving, also a huge plus is that the pans of food get refreshed periodically... The buffet is all you can eat. The offerings on the night that we came were: fried chicken, sliced ham, cabbage, string beans, baked Mac n cheese, candied yams, yellow rice, turkey legs or wings, curry chicken, beef ribs and something else (maybe ettouffè - I forgot to ask) - of this I tried the fried chicken, the curry chicken, Mac n cheese, cabbage, candies yams and string beans. I cleaned my plate the first round; the second round was too much for me to handle - lol. The staff here was awesome and very welcoming - I felt like I was visiting with my family. My hubby and I sat outdoors under a covered patio tent and listened to good music playing while we ate. I can't count how many times the staff came over and checked on us; the customer service was stellar!!! And the highlight - Corinne greeted us and checked in to make sure we were being taken care of. I regret that I did not get to take a pic with her because I was too busy stuffing my face and then dashed because a storm was looming. But when I come back - I'm going to take a pic with Corinne first - before I eat! ;-) The atmosphere is very laid back and the are very reasonable too. My hubby and I did push ourselves (hand to forehead) to eat dessert but it was just OK however, that wasn't what we came for - we came specifically for a good (home cooked tasting) southern style meal and that is exactly what we got! Looking forward to another visit :-)

Finally was able to taste the food at Corinne's Place and it was worth it!! Catfish & chickens wings were fried to perfection. Macaroni & cheese, potato salad & sweet potatoes were great. My only disappointment were the black eye peas...little seasoning and undercooked. We visited on a Sunday afternoon but did not get the buffet selections which was very popular!! A stream of regular customers assured us we made a good choice. Staff was EXTREMELY helpful and service was wonderful.

From Sundays' buffet - Day 1: Had to place some of it on a plate because it was so much food!

Staff was friendly and on point from beginning to end. They do take the dress code seriously, I saw people get turned away for athletic wear. It's clear on their website and not asking too much for an upscale night out. Prices weren't ridiculous, especially since portions were plentiful. A lot of people were leaving with leftovers. The specialty drinks are a bit pricey tho. The cornbread and Mac n cheese are a must order the moment you sit down to start things off. Both served in a small skillet, perfect to share. The cornbread bread was flavorful and the butter that comes on top you def want to let that melt right in! The Mac n cheese noodles were a little softer than I would of preferred but the blend of cheeses and the crisp crust on top made me not worry about the doneness of the noodles, it was top notch! We went classic with the entrees - catfish with gulf shrimp. The catfish was cooked perfect super tender and flaky. I wasn't thrilled with the shrimp, for "gulf shrimp" as they listed in the menu they were a lot Smaller than I expected and a little tough. The sauce they came in was nice. I would have liked some kind of sauce on the side for the catfish. The collard green rice was delicious and the broccoli that came with it was prob the most delicious broccoli I've ever had, just cooked well in lots of butter! The other entree we got was the fried chicken. Really delicious and tender. It came with a sweet potato side that was yummy and a classic collard greens Even tho we were stuffed we had to try the bread pudding, it was served with a Side of delicious ice cream. The bread pudding was perfect! I would definitely return even just to eat and try more menu items but the jazz club is a must do! Beautifully decorated and classy establishment all around

I paid attention to how the staff would handle the situation. After helping the current customer, the cashier gave him a cup of juice. I didn't see any payment, so I assumed it was offered to him. As he stepped outside, I asked my husband to check if he wanted something to eat. When my husband came back, he told me he had given him money. While that was kind, I honestly would have preferred to get him food myself just to make sure he actually ate. A few minutes later, the man came back in and sat at the counter. At first, I didn't see anyone approach him, but shortly after, the staff brought him a bag with food. I'm not sure if he ordered through the take out window then came in, paid the waiter, or if it was provided to him, but either way, it meant a lot to see. He took his food and left. What stood out most was that the staff didn't ignore him, rush him out, or treat him like he didn't belong. At one point, I even heard a staff member ask if he had received his juice, which made me think this wasn't their first interaction with him. In a world where people are often overlooked or dismissed, it meant a lot to see a business show simple human kindness. Treating people with dignity and empathy shouldn't be rare--but unfortunately, it often is. For that alone, Honey's Sit 'n Eat deserves recognition. Oh... and the food is always great!

Businesses should not limit promotions based on language or cultural backgrounds. People from different cultures are able to enjoy other cuisines. The Chinese-speaking menu has way better options and quality than the English one, which is very disappointing. I advise everyone to not dine here. This was my biggest concern with this restaurant. There was a menu on the back of the happy hour card that was written only in Chinese. I asked the waitress about it and questioned why there wasn't an English version available. Her first response was that it was "for the Chinese elders", which is not listed anywhere on the menu by the way. After returning to the table, she added that many people "don't eat pork or like spicy food." I explained that spicy food and pork are enjoyed across many cultures, including African cuisines, so that reasoning didn't make sense to me. Her final explanation was that they simply hadn't printed an English version yet. The interaction felt dismissive and inconsistent, which left a bad impression. Beyond that, the overall service was poor. The atmosphere did not feel welcoming, there were no check-ins during the meal, and food was dropped off without any follow-up or engagement from the staff. If you do not speak Chinese, you are able to use Chatgpt for translation. Philly is a diverse city and does not need any business that is unable to cater to all customers fairly. Lastly- the food is very underwhelming. The blueberry tao chicken and udon noodles were overcooked. The fried rice was salty. The string beans and wontons were good.
