Kind of okay if you get the right rate, but five star hotels do not:…read more - have a wifi system that requires a user to log in on each of their devices (the best hotel customers will generally have two or three Apple devices which are capable of sharing wifi logins so who the hell designs a system that precludes this?) - restrict the wifi devices that a guest can use to three ofewer than - have a constant stream of random locals walking through the reception and lounge in order to use the gym - have a pool on only the 3rd floor that is overlooked by every surrounding building and three surrounding building sites - have a bedside audio clock that has the original fat iPod connector that Apple hasn't built devices for at any point in the past decade - have installed a global electrical adopter in such a way that it is so close to the desk on which it is mounted that only one of the two available sockets can possibly be used.

When friends heard I was going to São Paulo they didn't say "that's fabulous". Without fail they…read moresaid "why?", with concern, before voicing their experiences which ranged from: * Being pick-pocketed at the airport; * Having things stolen from them as they laid beside those things on the beach; * Being robbed at gunpoint, en masse, during the afternoon at a private party in a friend's home; and * Being certain that a kidnapping was imminent. I'd be lying if I didn't say these stories left me concerned for my safety. I was arriving in São Paulo solo and meeting with my son later that night, hopefully. After much research I settled on the InterContinental where, for approximately $195/night including a beautiful daily buffet breakfast for two I believed my son and I would be less likely to fall victim to anything undesirable. Mission accomplished. The InterContinental chain of hotels is a leap above the places I generally stay. Research seemed to indicate it was a hotel for business people though not located in a solely business district. From what I could tell, it was located in a relatively safe area, in one of the nicest parts of São Paulo. Though the InterContinental clearly attracts many business people (airline captains too) pleasure travelers shouldn't hesitate to stay here. I found it to be one of the best hotel experiences I've had. Not only was it in a busy, upscale neighborhood but it's very close to the subway, MASP, and some of the best shopping and dining areas of SP. The hotel was immaculate and safe (the lobby area is watched closely, the elevator requires a room key, access to the pool does as well). The front desk staff and concierge were helpful, considerate, and spoke English. The bar area is lovely and doesn't gouge on prices. The breakfast buffet is unequaled: 6 different kinds of fresh fruit juice (including acai), omelets made to order, probiotics, fresh fruits, and even a Japanese breakfast (you won't really need to eat again until dinner). The room itself was well outfitted. The lush beds held every sort of pillow imaginable. The shower had great water pressure. A separate bathtub was enticing enough to lure me in. The room temperature was easily and accurately controlled and wifi was perfect. I was left with nothing to complain about. Well, perhaps. The day after his arrival my son decided to go for a swim in the rooftop pool we'd viewed from our 15th floor room. We arrived there only to learn that the entire thing was 2.5 feet deep which gave us both a good laugh. Objects in the window may be smaller than they appear. Still, the pool and sunning patio was immaculate and lovely. If I were a business traveler or air captain I'd happily stay here. But on my own dime, as a pleasure traveler? I'd definitely stay here. You can put me safely in the big, huge fan category.

    Hotel Ca'd'Oro - Ca'd'Oro views...nothing better in São Paulo

I honestly do not even know where to start with this review? The perfect hotel didn't exist until I…read morestayed here. In so many ways this place was so lovely that even this review will not ever do it justice. Just book it and stay here, you will not be sorry. In so many ways I feel that everyone that utilizes this hotel wants to keep it a secret, it's so posh and easy to stay here, I see why people live at Ca'd'Oro too. A few things to get out of the way before I start this rather long and detailed review. I've been to São Paulo many times, it's an unbelievable place to see, staying here will make it that much more unbelievable. The vibe here is so ultra private, luxurious and secluded you don't even feel like you are in São Paulo, and that's a good thing. When you open your curtains and look out at this global city in the morning, afternoon and evening....you will feel so blessed. São Paulo is a mega city. The metropolis is an alpha global city, and the most populous city in Brasil, the Western Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. There is no shortage of anything in São Paulo, other than space. You could stay anywhere while you're here, don't screw this up and for sure stay here. I'm going to try to best explain why you should stay here. Because seriously, this is hands down my top 3 hotels ever. Forever. In the case of Ca'd'Oro it has the location that is perfect for being able to strike out and see and navigate as much as the city as possible, whether its business or pleasure Hotel Ca'd'Oro is the place for you. São Paulo is not easy to navigate, its old, has heavy traffic and pollution, it's over populated and the city grew too fast since day one. Hotel Ca'd'Oro is seriously your refuge from all of that, it's like a safety zone after a long day dealing with the stress that São Paulo can undoubtedly bring. The hotel itself is very boutique, the feeling of seclusion almost makes you feel bad for the rest of the city, you will feel spoiled here your entire stay. You will feel as you are the only ones staying at this hotel for several reasons. The first reason, the warmth of the employees and staff here, they make you feel so welcome and special. The staff/family here are absolutely the warmest and most loving people you'll ever meet. The second reason is that every single floor isn't part of the hotel, it's actual residences, this is such a cool hybrid idea. One that could only work here. The level of class in São Paulo is simply higher than the metros of the US, guests would be loud and not be as respectful as Brazilians are here. The third is the size and over all service of the establishment, absolutely incredible. The overall size of the pool area, dining room, breakfast area, bar, lobby etc. are small however perfect in every way. The hotel was designed perfectly!!!! Every inch is pure class. The rooms in my opinion are actually large and very modern & so very Italian. There is no detail left behind here. Every. Single. Thing. Impeccable. The rooms are so well designed that it's a marvel, how is it that all hotels do not copy this model in the USA? More, how is there not 1 single review of this amazing establishment on yelp?! The linens, the blankets, pillows, soaps, towels....ALL heaven. The bar, the breakfast service, the pool area...a place like this in the USA would be untouchable for us to stay at in the USA. We decided to pull out all the stops and order room-service, a maccheroni bolognese late at night, my mind was blown! One of the best ragu's I've ever had in my life. Before I go any further, I knew that it was very much a city full of Italian descendants. However, this time I really explored that more and even by staying at this hotel. Italian Brazilians are the LARGEST number of people with full or partial Italian ancestry outside ITALY. With SÃO PAULO being the most populous city with Italian ancestry in the WORLD. Nowadays, it's possible to find millions of descendants of Italians here. This hotel would easily beat most hotels in Italy, at least match them. Circling back, from management to maids, from bartender to bellhops, all impeccable. There was not one time when I wasn't impressed with this place. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in São Paulo especially an extended stay like we did, it will feel like home from day 1 until you leave. You will honestly miss those pillows & sheets when our leave, and those robes....I'm serious I'm missing it right now. Food, views, service, great bar/lounge. On site restaurant, wonderful breakfast. Fresh linens to die for and the warmest staff I've ever encountered in a hotel setting.

It's actually a pretty good hotel. I have no complaint and the service was excellent! Location is…read moreconvenient. Actually really liked the room, shower, amenities available in the room, and it was VERY clean. It pool area was relaxing. We had it to ourselves to enjoy it's a rooftop pool with bar attached but the hr of operation is different. It was a relaxing get away in São Paulo.
