Words can't express my gratitude towards ascent home care. My father was in rehab and given a weeks…read morenotice of his discharge and suggesting that he had 24 hour care. I had a week to find care for my father, which the other companies I interviewed either needed minimum 2 weeks notice or we just didn't jive. But with ascent home care, they were ready, willing and accommodating! The process with my dad was overwhelming and on his discharge date I couldn't be there. Ascent took the reigns and kept me updated with everything from the time they arrived at rehab to when they were on their way to my dads to when they arrived home. Hey made the process easy. The care workers were amazing and patient with my father and kept me updated with everything going on wth him and supplies he needed. I NEVER had to worry about my dad's care or his safety.I highly recommend this company to anyone who is searching for care for a family member or loved one

We had the best experience possible with Ascent Home Care and their care-takers. My Father-In-Law…read morewas in a nursing home and it was time for him to come home with hospice. The Dr's gave him 7-10 days to live. He lived for more than 2 months with excellent care from Ascent. Our caretaker, Ariel, was an amazing angel that gave my dear Father-In-Law respect, comfort and friendship. He bathed and fed him and gave him massages. He fit right in with our family. He made a very sad time in our lives bearable and actually enjoyable at times. The owners of Ascent have huge hearts too and are hands on. I highly recommend them for home health care.

Pros Our caregiver was a great emotional match for my mom…read more Our caregiver was trustworthy Cons Because I live in close proximity to my mother, I was able to see the concerns noted here, first hand. The caregiver provided to us told us she did not cook- I cooked dinners for almost one year and packaged them weekly for both my mother and the caregiver. Our caregiver did cook scrambled eggs. She did utilize a microwave to reheat the dinners I cooked and packed for her for the almost year she was with us. The caregiver provided to us vacuumed twice in the year she was with us-once because we requested it bc of an upcoming carpet cleaning and once in response to our having contacted and brought Tanya in for a conversation. Our caregiver did not do light cleaning. *Photo#1 is an infection caused by not wiping skin completely. We had no idea she had such an infection until hospice showed us on the first day of their services. (We brought hospice in-not from European care. Outside hospice provided a healthcare worker 2x per week, a nurse, a doctor to direct end of life care, equipment including a hospital bed and oxygen, access to team members, pastoral support and very necessary supplies such as briefs, creams, wipes and meds. *Photo #2 is called shearing. We also didn't know this was happening until my mom's first day of hospice services (that we brought in) and they brought it to our attention. Shearing is caused from yanking a brief out from under the patient. The issues of cooking and cleaning were brought to Tanya's attention in October. My mom was in hospice and no longer eating much so cooking became irrelevant. Our caregiver never did do light house keeping. With the help of hospice, and my taking over personal care for two weeks (except middle of the night refreshes) , her infections cleared up. There is discrepancy about what my brothers would rate vs what my sister and I would rate, as the girls picked up all the slack for cooking, cleaning and infection clearing. Tanya did tell us we should have contacted her sooner, with cooking and cleaning issues, we did not want to make waves because one brother uses the services for his father in law and our caregiver was a great emotional match for my mom. When I did contact Tanya and I met with both her and our caregiver, Tanya did not follow up. When contacted a second time for a new situation, Tanya's immediate response was to try to reach my brother by contacting my sister in law via email-who is not a POA-to voice her own concerns.

While some of the individuals were so nice and helpful for every one nice person there were multiple individuals who were unable to do what we needed. We paid for 24 hour care, out of our own pocket, and at one point one of the workers fell asleep while we were paying him. At one point they sent a lovely young lady that was expecting, but could not lift my dad to go to the bathroom. I then had to perform her job duties for her. I was also disappointed that we were charged AFTER my father passed THREE extra hours. When we called to discuss charges we were told that's what we signed up for and they were already giving us a "deal" and if we didn't pay they would send my mother to collections- which is not what someone with a dying family member needs to hear. I would suggest taking your business to another company.

I called Home Instead for my Father when another agency let me down by cancelling service the day…read morebefore he was being discharged from the hospital. I live in Arizona while my father is in Illinois, so with no family to help and the current "shelter in place" due to COVID-19 I am not able to be my father's caregiver. The Home Instead office staff was very patient and professional. They completed an assessment that same day I called and I was given a care plan and options to get services started within 24 hours from my initial call. Their caregivers and care managers have been very proactive, friendly and caring so far and I would highly recommend them!
