I stayed because I liked one of the doctors, but after she left, I remained longer than I should have. Over the years, this fee increased steadily. At first, one of the justifications for the fee was "hazardous removal service," but that explanation later disappeared from their list of reasons. Even when my children were too young for school forms, they still wanted to charge me. If I were to attend today, that same fee would cost me $295. Beyond the excessive fees, I never felt that any doctor truly cared about my children. It often seemed like they were treated as just another number. To be fair, I left this practice over seven years ago, so perhaps things have changed. But based on my experience, I'm glad I decided to move on.

It's true that it can be hard to navigate their phone system, that you have to pay non-covered services fees, and that sometimes the advice nurse is curt with anxious parents. However, over the years I have found they have always been there when I needed them, including providing fast and seamless service for medical records, school and camp forms, and in-house prescription filling for common prescriptions if needed (think amoxicillin). Dr. Weiss and Dr. Fishelberg have been amazing with my kids, becoming trusted sources of health advice for our whole family over the years ranging from my issues breastfeeding when newborns to navigating mental health as adolescents, and everything in between. This is a solid practice with many resources for families, including excellent courses on parenting, puberty, and Red Cross certification for teens. I recommend them highly!

He has been practicing for several years and was recently named to the Washington Best Doctors. I am really pleased with the way he runs his practice, and with his view and approach to medicine. He is amazing with kids--friendly, quick, and my son really likes him (my daughter is a newborn and she likes everyone :) He is great about screenings and making sure, developmentally, your child is on track, but he does not intervene when not medically necessary. He explains everything to you in a way that you can understand but without being patronizing. Even though I was a second time parent with my baby, he still explained things in a way that made me feel at ease and "reminded," which is great because some people just expect that you will remember! Wait times are excellent. Maybe about 5 minutes or sometimes less. Also, he has individual buckets of toys for kids, which helps maintain the mess, and probably makes cleaning easier. The exam rooms are incredible. He has themed rooms---a firetruck room where the bed is a firetruck! There are orange cones, real vintage fireman hats on the wall, and little fire trucks and extinguishers for cabinet fixtures. He has a jungle room where the table is an elephant, and two new rooms that may not yet be finished--a train and a cafe. The technology is state of the art, and he tries to run things on an electronic health record system, which I LOVE! He monitors progress through an online CHADIS questionnaire, and keeps electronic records. He does print out material for you to take home, which is an important sign of a good primary care provider. We have never had an issue getting a sick appointment when we need one. He somehow manages to fit us in. Between two kids, this is really important. Also, his staff is excellent. His nurse is kind, sweet, and great with kids. On top of that, she is good and quick with the shots, which I really appreciate. Leslie, his front desk/office manager is quick, kind and efficient. I find that either you have a great doctor and an "okay staff" or the other way around. it is so nice to have both!!! Overall, you can't go wrong with Dr. Hirsch. We are truly very happy with him and his office!

My experience with this medical practice was profoundly disappointing and fell substantially below…read morethe standard of professionalism, clinical judgment, and patient-centered care that any family is entitled to expect. After this experience, I have no confidence in this practice and cannot recommend it to others. The primary concern arose from the physician's interaction with my child. Throughout the appointment, I observed conduct that I considered inappropriate and inconsistent with the professional standards expected of a licensed healthcare provider. My child became visibly distressed and increasingly apprehensive during the encounter. When we communicated our intention to conclude the visit, I did not believe that our decision, concerns, or parental authority were afforded the level of respect they deserved. Every parent has the right to advocate for their child, and every healthcare professional has a corresponding obligation to respect those decisions while ensuring that patients are treated with dignity, courtesy, and professionalism. Equally concerning was the conduct of the office staff. Communication was dismissive, professionalism was lacking, and legitimate concerns were not addressed with the seriousness or respect expected in a medical environment. Rather than demonstrating empathy, accountability, and effective communication, the overall experience reflected a troubling absence of professionalism. The cumulative effect was a complete erosion of confidence in the practice's ability to provide competent and respectful patient care. Medical professionals occupy positions of significant public trust. That trust requires unwavering adherence to professional ethics, respectful communication, sound clinical judgment, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare and dignity of every patient. Those fundamental expectations were not met during our visit. A healthcare setting should foster confidence, reassurance, and respect; instead, this experience left our family with profound disappointment and serious concerns regarding the practice's standards of patient care. As a direct consequence of this experience, I will not be returning to this office under any circumstances, nor can I recommend this practice to other patients or families seeking professional medical care. I strongly encourage the practice to undertake a comprehensive review of its standards of professionalism, patient communication, and physician-patient interactions to ensure that future patients receive the level of respect, consideration, and care that should be regarded as the minimum standard within any medical practice. This experience was entirely unacceptable and has fundamentally undermined my confidence in this practice. It is my sincere hope that meaningful corrective action is taken to address these concerns and to prevent other families from encountering a similar experience.

I went to this practice after seeking out top pediatricians. I informed the team I was paying up front weeks in advance. Somehow, there was still uncertainty on the day of appointment. Each time I went to checkout, there was always confusion, and still I was sent a bill for a petty $15. My daughter was given a questionnaire at her appointment, no consent form, BTW, but I was later told that questionnaire was some sort of assessment and I was billed for it separately. I cannot respect a doctor, or a practice, that will hand a teenager a form, not obtain consent from parent to add more billable service after preparing in detail, and send you a bill after checkout, because one sheet set of questions was called "an assessment", separate from the physical. When you have labs drawn there, they charge a separate admin fee for EACH test done, in addition to the testing itself. It's practices like these, and nasty old lady billing attitudes, that erode patient trust and now I no longer trust Dr. Howard either. They are all there for $$$ not patient care or relationships. I waited for a refund that was due, which took some months. When I asked this billing person which credit card was it sent to to confirm, she says, "what, you don't know which credit card was used for your appointment?". I will never refer anyone to this practice.

Scheduling with…read moreour actual pediatrician is extremely difficult--she is always booked out, and we often end up seeing a random provider instead. Unfortunately, those visits have felt rushed and lacking basic bedside manner, which is not what you want when it comes to your child's care. On top of that, I submitted required school health forms and was later charged a $20 fee without ever being informed ahead of time. The documentation they provided actually lists the fee as $15, yet they still charged the higher "updated" amount without any notice or consent. I had multiple interactions with the office (calls, in-person, and email), and at no point did their medical assistant, Casey, or anyone else mention a cost or price increase. Patients should not be expected to pay fees that were never disclosed or agreed to. This experience wasn't about the money--it's about transparency, communication, and quality of care. Unfortunately, this practice fell short on all three. I hope they take steps to improve both their patient communication and overall experience.
