Below is a little background: I would like a referral or consult for a possible suit against OSF, Carle Healthcare, McLean County Orotho, their systems 3rd parties in regards to my Moms pre-post fall, hip replacement and leg pain that was mis-diagnosed and wrong protocols used in hind-site. She has lost mobility due to pain (pre and post surgery) that did not require a hip replacement but rather we find now was back nerve related. This has gone on over 3 years now and even after surgery has lost leg mobility. Do you hadle these if not, can I get a referral? I avoid local attorneys as they all have conflicts of interest with local medical and insurance companies but reaching out anyway,. Staff nice (not their fault) but have had numerous issues with OSF, Carle and McLean County Orotho (surgery) as well as Il State Insurance and has been quite the negligent run around it seems. After falling 3 years ago where my Mom hit her leg on the edge of a counter, she went to OSF Healthcare, Bloomington. They did xrays and said nothing was found and to just go home and rest/take ibroprofin. She was pretty much in good walking and mobility before this occurred. Doctor visits did not result in much even after she expressed concerns and continued to lose mobility and pain increased. Eventually she was referred to an orthopedic (McLean County Ortho- Bloomingon). A doctor (unnamed) recommended a hip replacement and Physical Therapy as he said he saw leg pain a lot in farmers who walked alot and credited it to bad Rheumatoid Arthitris in her hip, aging (only in 70s) and for which replacement should change and fix or help the leg pain. (which ended up. She had no real pain in her hips at all but reluctantly agreed to this., She did Physical therapy at home and as recommended on site) but the pain in her leg was still extreme even after the surgency and healing. The doctor confirmed her surgery was healing. A nurse at the Physical therepist area on follow up again said "maybe your pain tolerance is low and you taught yourself to feel the pain and its not that bad." Finally another doctor was visited to look at Mom's back and nerves (which someone apparently thought to be the root cause of leg pain at that point). She was denied by insurance a MRI and had to go to further painful Physical Therapy at Mclean County Ortho to get another NRI on her back this time. Finally was approved (several months after hip replacement) The doctor visit then reviewed the results. Nerves and probably causing the mobile restricting leg pain. This could have been caught or diagnosed prior to hip replacement or after her doctor visits after her fall but noone ever treated her- unsure if it is due to age, insurance run around, protocal, computer machine learning rules or just negligence by Central Illinois medical providers and the network. I see this more and more with handicapped, elderly and healthcare and multiple blatent errors in treating people of certain backgrounds, ages, demographics, health histories etc. This is not new but accelerating it seems. I AM NOT PLACING blame on anyone but clearly my Mom's health by phycially and emotionally has been hard living with extreme leg pain for over 3 years now and even after multiple procedures. Now after Steroid shots in back at the surgery center in Bloomington, there was confusion as the order the doctor reviewed has the WRONG entry point for steroid shot (back Left instead of back Right). Mom was upset further and traumatized more and glad we caught it. People are nice there but this was a clear error. Billing is a whole other issues (operations at all these orgs seems terrible and traumatizing to patients and bill payers). I personally have had major overcharging for a Mammogram and ended up paying over 2000 for something that should have been free at OSF (never again). The doctor and staff proceeded to tell me I was lying about a "diagnostic" as I had a biopsy and a "plug" in one of my breasts. This was not a diagnostic- it was my regular scheduled mammogram - but ended up raking all that$ out anyway as its impossible to fight clearly (one big Collection Agency) in B-N all making $ off each other and collection of "data" that should not be inter-twined or integrated but they do it anyway. Mom - most recently got a bill for my handicapped sister (said procedure/visit for for sister- not Mom) when it was a procedure MY MOM had (not my sister). This takes OUR time and effort to resolve (insurance, mis-billing, evaluating bills, disputes, etc) SaaS systems in Healthcare have become a big mess and alot of mis-billing, lack of transparency and a huge "digital" show (not new). 3rd party breaches happen regularly and local orgs/clinics and hospitals are not isolated from this (EPIC is another issues which has bigger eugenics type issues in "training"/machine learning protocols and recommended procedures for patients. Its bad for our county, state and country.$ read more

MRI review... Visited one of their docs and scheduled an MRI for the next week for 7am. Then, I could not get back into the doc until a week later after the MRI which seemed like too long. Ok, to start...their signage directing to MRI entrance is a little confusing. I ended up trying an entrance in the back which was dark and locked. There was another entrance (administrative entrance) nearby which I also tried. It was open, but dark and no one at the desk. However, in the waiting area, there was a phone and a note saying to dial if no one was there. So I tried 2 numbers on the main list - no answer. Then at the bottom of the list, it says 'if no answer, try these three numbers'. So I did - again no answer. I should note there were at least 30 cars in the parking lot but it was like a ghost town. Then I circled around the building again and found the actual MRI entrance - easy to miss because it's tucked back into a corner and signage doesn't face oncoming car traffic so it's not obvious. After all of this, I was legitimately 8 minutes late for my 7am time. HOWEVER, on finally reaching the MRI reception desk, there was no one there, chair tucked in, computer not even on, desk window locked. I waited a few minutes and tried calling the main number and picked the MRI option from the menu - call went to voicemail. So I left. I don't have the time or patience to chase people down to give them my money. They send multiple reminders to me reminding of my appointment. Maybe they should send those reminders to their staff to show up to work on time as well. read more

Great experience! I saw Dr Norris because of a bicep area injury that wouldn't fully heal. He was friendly and thorough and recommended PT to help strengthen the muscle. My PT Annie put me through a detailed analysis and recommended a few exercises that i could do at home on my own. She was friendly and showed me proper form and also sent me video links to the exercises. Although i didn't need to use the therapy area, it's huge and has a large staff. If I need therapy in the future i wouldn't hesitate to come back here. read more

Facility does not take safety seriously.. technologist are allowed to leave patients on mri table and leave the building with the patient in scanner running. They also let employees FaceTime and watch Netflix while scanning patients. read more

My daughter is a collegiate clarinetist. She has been playing several hours a day for several years. However recently (a few months) she has been experiencing severe pain in her right plan. This is common for a person that plays 6-8 hours a day. However this time is was different. Sharp pains and it was shooting up her arm. My daughter scheduled an appointment to get in as soon as possible. The Nurse on the phone was OUTSTANDING and very helpful. My wish is she gets a new job with a practice that has doctors that care. The Doctor that my daiugher saw was rude, Condescending and dismissive. She told my daughter that there was nothing wrong with her hand it was clearly because her hand was weak and she was holding her instrument wrong. My daughter brought her instrument with her to the appointment. She asked the doctor if she could show her how she plays. The doctor was extremely rude and said I don't need to see how you play I know you play wrong. God for bid this conceded doctor with no bedside manner's would take her profession serious and actually take a look to see if my daughter plays her instrument wrong. I'm not sure if the doctors name, but she was a younger female hand specialist. The only female hand specialist in the practist. How many college age students is scared to death because he believes possibly her career is over because of the pain she is has any self respecting decent doctor would respect where she's coming from, and not be condescending. I can't speak for the entire practice, But this is on excusable actions by a so-called professional. Thank goodness we were able to get an appointment with a real doctor in Chicago in a few weeks. Posted To be fair I would like to add an update to this review. Today my daughter went to a another hand specialist that actually specializes in working with musicians at a different practice. This one was down town Chicago. Yes we had to take my daughter out of school and take her downtown because this practice is not qualified. The good news is the pain in my daughters hand was NOT in her head and NOT because she plays wrong. It is because she has two not one ruputired tendons in her hand. The hand specialist ( not sure how she got her degree) at the clinic in Normal told my daughter she has weak joints and she doesn't have anything wrong with her. She told her it's most likely because she holds her instrument wrong. She didn't do anUltrasound or an MRI, because she said " it would be a waste because nothing is wrong with her". This doctor actually had my daughter questioning herself and looking into different majors because of what this idiot doctor in Normal said. Thank goodness we ( her parents) didn't listen to this idiot and found a hand specialist that actually believes in doing actual tests to find out what is wrong with someone. Actually had her play her instrument so they could actually see how she hold it and moves her fingers. IF YOU ARE. MUSCIAN at Illinois State or Illinois Wesleyan University do not go to this practice if you are experiencing hand issues. These people have horrific bedside manners, and are clueless when it comes to injuries related to musicians. It is a waste of time. I will make sure the chairs of both Music Schools in Bloomington Normal are aware of how terrible this place is so they can advise students to never go there. I am also going to file an official complaint with the state and every medical board I can. read more

They get you in the room then you r stuck with what they want to do. I said I didn't want an X-ray but was told that I couldn't see the doctor with out it. I asked how much it would cost and they said they didn't know because they don't take care of that part. I didn't want a big bill and now I have one. They charged for everything. I got charged for two doctor visit because of the X-ray. Will not be going back. There is other places to go beside them. They only care about the money and nothing else read more

I've been going here for a year and a half and everyone is great. I've seen Alex for a knee issue which was resolved and Dr. Naour for back pain. His whole department is friendly, relatable and professional. While it can be very busy, they are usually prompt and try their best to help you get better. read more

Have become disillusioned with most doctors in Bloomington. Don't even bother seeing one unless you are blessed to have a BMI under 20; if you are larger than "normal"...forget it. They are NOT interested in treating you. For any condition. My horse stepped on my right foot while I was mid-stride in January. I spun down and hit a concrete walkway with my knee bent, generating what the doctors at MCO deemed "damage". Because of a fall from bleachers in 2014 I had previous meniscus repair. The new damage is deemed irreparable due to BMI too high for surgery. Offered weight loss medication to help lose the weight...then abandoned as a patient from the practice upon the COVID 19 pandemic. According to physician's assistant would have to re-establish as a patient, which they are reluctant to do now due to obesity, AND be expected to start over with, quote, "years of shots, therapy, and *all* other conservative treatments" as the only (reluctant) offerings for help. I am a Doctoral student-my project is based on working actively with horses and children, and I NEED a doctor to help me get there. Clearly "years" of conservative treatment, which I have already endured from previous injuries very little to no relief, is not an option. I have tried to talk to them about this issue, but cannot get them to budge. Now I have wasted months of time and the pain is worse and constant. First off personnel at the desk in the Therapy Dept are rude. I had to reschedule 2 weeks of appointments do to work conflicts. They forgot to cancel 1 of my appointments and charged me for a no show. Even though I had a print out of my new schedule, they tried to lie their way out of it. I canceled all remaining appointments and schedule them at another facility. read more

I have had shoulder surgery on both shoulders by Dr Norris, as well as an elbow surgery. I have had Dr Naour work on my neck at the c-spine. The staff if very friendly when checking in and the new building is wonderful. Drs Naour and Norris have answered all of my questions and addressed any concerns with surgery and treatments. Both take the time and are thorough and respectful in their care. They are professional and warm people who truly care about their patients and obviously enjoy their work greatly. I have felt completely confident in their skill and in their referrals to other physicians. I highly recommend them both, Dr. Naour for spine and pain and Dr. Norris for orthopedic. read more

Dr. Kink performed emergency ORIF surgery on my broken ankle on January 8th of this year and partial hardware removal in late March, which I am so appreciative that he did so soon and didn't make me wait. My range of motion improved greatly afterward. Dr. Kink, his nurse Jessica and all of the wonderful staff have been amazing the entire time. Dr. Kink never makes me feel rushed and answers all of my questions clearly and entirely. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients and has an excellent bedside manner. Same for Nurse Jessica! She called me a couple times in the beginning just to see how I was doing. When I got my second cast put on after my initial surgery, Josh did an excellent job and I had no issues with it for the 6 weeks I had it on after the initial 2 in the splint cast, which also felt as comfortable as possible given the situation. I've been going to physical therapy at MCO for a few months as well, and Ed, one of the PTs, and Olivia, a PTA, have done wonders helping along my healing process! I actually look forward to going to therapy every week. (Who would have thought!) I couldn't ask for a better overall experience and I honestly wouldn't trust anyone else but MCO for my orthopedic care. read more

There is a stigma that doctors offices are just bloated cash cows where the prime function is to make money. I try not to think like that because I don't have the knowledge to treat myself. So I want to think that the people with that knowledge want to help. Why else spend the time learning it? However, McLean County Orthopedics meets all the criteria. Not only do they pack their schedule to see as many patients as possible making it difficult to take the time to learn anything about their patients. They have also shown me in my experience with them that they only care about the money. I saw Dr. Armstrong because I had been having hip pain that wouldn't go away. He did some x-rays and decided that I should see Dr. Norris and potentially have surgery. Dr. Norris agreed that surgery would be the best course of action. He prescribed ​pain medication to take up to and after the surgery. Before I left, I asked if it was gluten-free and he assured me that his nurse would call (I have celiac, I can't have gluten). He left and his nurse came in and said the prescription had been sent out. I asked again if it was gluten free and she said she wasn't sure but that she would call. She left and came back and assured me that she called and the medication is gluten-free. Surgery came and went and I continued taking the medication but could barely take any because they made me so sick. I mentioned it to Dr. Norris and he didn't say anything but to take less. Long story short, the medication DID have gluten in it and was making me really sick and preventing me from healing. I contacted the CEO to inform him of what had been going on and he scheduled a meeting with me. I show up and the receptionist said I have nothing on the books. After I insisted, she took me to a conference room where I wait for Jim (the CEO). The first words out of his mouth were 'we never called to remind you of your appointment so we assumed that you wouldn't show up.' From there he continued accusing me and telling me that I never said anything about gluten until now. Made no attempt to make me feel confident in the practice and insisted that I continue seeing Dr. Norris... Why would I see a doctor who has been poisoning me for 3 months?!? After a long conversation, he agreed to let me see another doctor. But at this point, I was done with the office and decided to see a doctor at another practice. On top of all this, they billed the wrong insurance for the surgery and never had my name correct on anything. This seems minor to me compared to being poisoned, but it is worth mentioning. All in all, I do NOT recommend this place. They treat their patients like dollar bills instead of humans and are too swamped for any of the staff to do anything correctly. read more

In/out in less than an hour, including patient paperwork, xrays, Dr. exam and steroid shots ... Dr. Norris and his PA/nurses/assistants were all very pleasant, answered all our questions and were very accommodating to our situation ... no other orthopedic Dr./facility for our family!!!!! read more

I would not recomment this office at all. They are not organized and have no clue what is going on. Besides waiting at least an 30-60 minutes after your scheduled appt. Then the staff running around not knowing what is going on. Finally had to switch to another office because this place didnt have a clue. Then try to deal with their billing dept is a nightmare. Had a payment plan set up and sent out documentation about it and then they have no clue what you are talking about. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Gerald Paul this morning. He did surgery on my right foot years ago, and I was having pain in my left foot, so I made an appointment. Dr. Paul's office did Xrays, and it is not broken, but the suggestion was to go to physical therapy when I told him that stretching the foot hurts the foot in the first place. He flat out was rude when I asked about other treatment. He asked me if I wanted surgery next week. He stated he was not determining course of treatment, the insurance company was. He did not want to write me a prescription for compression stockings, even though that is what helps my right foot, and which was recommended by another Dr. He said I could get them over the counter. The orthopedic medicine clinic tells me the compression stockings won't work if they are the wrong size. Dr. Paul left my appointment saying he was not going to waste any more of his time arguing with me. He was acting like a jerk! I agree with other reviews of this office. They seem slow, and without a clue. The receptionist could not get me checked in since her mouse was not working, etc. I probably spent more time waiting for the appointment, then in actually seeing the Dr. and then was just treated like crap. I thought doctors were there to help patients, but this guy was just asking me to decide how to proceed. Next time, I will see someone else. Dr. Paul must have been having a bad day. He lost me as a patient. I would recommend others to not waste time seeing Dr. Paul. read more

The other review must have gone to the podiatry department because they are terrible at scheduling appointments and terribly disorganized. However, the orthopedic surgeons are great. I had a broken humerus in 2008 and a broken wrist in 2012. Dr. Irwin and Dr. Oakey are excellent doctors and I would highly recommend them. Dr. Irwin got my arm healed without surgery and Dr. Oakey had to put a plate and pins in my wrist but he casted it first for a week to see if I could get by without surgery but it shifted in the cast is why he did the surgery. He also operated on my husband's wrist to try to lessen the pain from his severe arthritis which he is still recuperating from. MCO has a great reputation in Bloomington/Normal. read more
