The apartments are much bigger here than the other places we visited in the area. Yes, the decor is still stuck in the 80's from when it was built, but who cares. Yes, maybe it needs new carpet in some areas but dad doesn't care. What he cares about is the good food (he'll eat anything so who knows if he's a good judge of fine dining!), the kind and attentive staff and the new friends he's made. A big perk to this place is the indoor pool which residents can use 9-11am with a supervising staff member. We didn't see indoor pools in the more expensive places and it's a real treat for the residents! Dad is a real bore about participating in the activities, but if your elderly loved one would enjoy them, they have plenty! There is no excuse to be lonely or bored at Langdon! If they're not feeling sociable at meal time, they can even have them bring the meal to their suite. We love the flexibility of how little or how much you want to participate on any given day. Take a tour of Langdon Place and see for yourself. It was just the right place for dad, hopefully for yours as well!

I arranged for a tour, and met with a very friendly, and very helpful, administrator, Debby. I was initially quite impressed. However, after the tour, I did more research, and came across a review that related how a loved one choked to death in the dining room, unassisted. The death was witnessed by other residents, some of whom were, according to the review, traumatized. No grief counseling or other post-traumatic intervention was provided. This was deeply disturbing, so I contacted Debby and asked for more information. She said she'd look into it and get back to me. That was on April 29th. I haven't heard a word since. To be clear: I cannot attest, in my own name, to the quality, or lack thereof, of Artis, and have been unable to verify that this incident actually happened. However, the fact that they've gone silent in response to this very legitimate request for further information is, to my eyes, an *enormous* red flag.

We did not hear about the attack until 9 hours later and then not told about the severity of injuries. We asked for a meeting with the Executive Director but were denied. We called the police for them to go to Bayberry to get a statement on the attack but once again Executive Director refused to give any information to police. Massachusetts Elder Affairs is investigating.

Wound care not done, medication given incorrectly and not at all sometimes , call bells taking over 45 minutes to respond ( yes, I timed it) Met with management several times and was always told they would retrain staff ( shouldn't they already be trained ?). Repeat issues constantly . Last straw was when my dad was dropped which caused injury involving a hospital stay staffing lied to cover it up . Would not recommend .

My body felt the ick from the cleanliness of the place. 15-minute check-ins were pre-filled out and not actually executed. No one checked on my grandmother even when she buzzed for a nurse to get help to go to the bathroom. On top of that, when my grandma had to get herself to the bathroom alone (which they should be more on top of anyways), she finds someone. else's. blood. covering the shared bathroom TWICE. She notified the workers, and the mess was still not cleaned up for hours on end. Additionally, one worker was rude to her when she expressed her need to go to the bathroom, claiming that if she really needed to go that bad she could walk and do it herself. I would NEVER wish this place upon anyone.
