If I could give CareOne zero stars, I would. My grandmother…read morewas moved to care one after about a week and change in Emerson hospital for RSV. In her time at careone, she did not improve from her state in the hospital. The reason was clear after we asked for a care log and realized that she was getting PT *maybe* once a day, with entire days of none. She ended up getting released for "lack of improvement" and after another ultimate hospitalization, got replaced at another location where she improved significantly in comparison. At CareOne, she also would be left to sit in adult pull-up diapers for HOURS without being changed, even after calling for help to get to the bathroom. When asked to call us for certain updates, we were often not updated at all and couldn't get in touch with the right people to answer our questions. I will say that some of the staff were helpful to talk to (mostly in admin), but it is clear that this facility is doing the bare minimum of care in a way that likely means plateauing or getting worse rather than getting better. They also do not warn you if someone is plateauing, so we were very surprised when my grandmother was told to be out by the end of the week for that reason. There is no real conversation of how they can adjust to any care needs. We will never recommend careone in Concord. As a side note, they have a bunny on the second floor but every time we saw it it was in a room hiding under a table in the corner, so Im a little worried about how that bunny is doing.

Poor communication, terrible food. Nursing has limited English...very hard to understand. Poor care.read more

He was a quite person but he met so many wonderful people residents and staff that brought him out of his shell. Bingo, outside trips to restaurants, food shopping and trips to museums, musicals, and boat rides made his day. When he could no longer do activities, the staff was amazing helping him to get around and keeping his spirits up! We as a family had so much support, love, and caring from the staff we felt like family.

The apartments are much bigger here than the other places we visited in the area. Yes, the decor is still stuck in the 80's from when it was built, but who cares. Yes, maybe it needs new carpet in some areas but dad doesn't care. What he cares about is the good food (he'll eat anything so who knows if he's a good judge of fine dining!), the kind and attentive staff and the new friends he's made. A big perk to this place is the indoor pool which residents can use 9-11am with a supervising staff member. We didn't see indoor pools in the more expensive places and it's a real treat for the residents! Dad is a real bore about participating in the activities, but if your elderly loved one would enjoy them, they have plenty! There is no excuse to be lonely or bored at Langdon! If they're not feeling sociable at meal time, they can even have them bring the meal to their suite. We love the flexibility of how little or how much you want to participate on any given day. Take a tour of Langdon Place and see for yourself. It was just the right place for dad, hopefully for yours as well!

I visited several Independent Living homes and the Village was by far the best. It's set on top of a hill overlooking Waterman lake which is breathtaking from spring through fall. The facility is immaculate and the staff goes out of their way to make sure the residents have the resources they need. One of the first things I noticed when my parents moved in was how friendly and welcoming the other residents are. You can tell people enjoy being there, and my parents did too for their short time there. Their health deteriorated faster than any of us expected and they both needed to be moved quickly into the nursing home. If you meet Moriah, the general manager, (or house mom as my parents called her), she is always dressed to the nines with flawless make-up and four inch heels. When my dad needed to be moved to the nursing home, I noticed she had swapped out her skirt and heels for jeans and sneakers. She and two of the facility nurses pushed my dad down to the nursing home in a rolling recliner to make sure he could be moved comfortably and safely. She did the same for my mom when it was her turn. Moriah set-up the move in days and pushed my mom's wheelchair, this time in her heels, to her new room. If my parents had still been in North Carolina when their health crashed, or in a less accommodating facility, I don't know what I would have done. Every staff member in that place from the top to the bottom did what they needed to do to take care of my parents, and that is an invaluable service when you are dealing with aging loved ones.

The care and services provided residents in top notch. I have one personal issue that frustrates me; there is not centralized WiFi/internet for residents New Horizons offers a few community PC's which until three to five years ago would have been adequate. Today however most families and seniors are very connected. Tools such as Zoom allow social interaction even when a visit isn't possible. During the COVID pandemic during serious influenza, visits may not be an option. Use of communal area PCs would greatly increase risk of virus transmission to the general population. New Horizons negotiated a price per resident for seniors to get internet ($30 per month) per resident. This is no bargain, and generally seniors are very concerned about any extra expenditures which makes the cost a battle. I hope New Horizons will upgrade their technology to equal their other service delivery
