The courts themselves are very nice and well maintained. They offer a tennis team, ladders, leagues and tournaments for kids and adults. The clubhouse for the bowling green has a pub in it and they have club events there and discos. The staff can be very strict about dress and letting non members play. It is a great little community but the place is tiny, so its worth reserving a court during peak times.

It's large, modern, clean, good rentals, nice staff and the rink is absolutely huge; it was so busy the day we went (I say "the day" because I don't drive in Europe yet and couldn't get them to come back) was packed and there was STILL enough room to skate around. I look forward to figuring out those roundabouts next time we go and heading here myself again.

We get in free at least for this year as we are residents who can choose one of our parks to have free entry. The decision to charge and hike our household rates was made by incompetent folks on a hundred k a year plus who always have free parking where they work enabled by councillors who enjoy generous expenses. We are always the suckers. No doubt we'll be hit for forest park payment next time round.

There were two level a to the hike. The first part was a bit easier than the second. At the half way point there is an area to stop and rest, beyond that, the path gets much steeper and rockier. At the top we're two stone Stone Age monuments at the top of a rocky hill. There was a small entrance to what I think was a burial chamber which I did not enter. This is an invigorating, medium difficulty hike. It was well worth the climb.

Situated in Newcastle the views from the top of the hills are magnificent....you can see right down to the town and the sea. It costs £5 entrance fee for a car, however we have a yearly pass which is £50, this allows unlimited visits to Tollymore and also Castlewellan and Gosford country parks if I remember correctly. There are several toilet blocks, lots of car parking and usually a chip van and Ice cream van (more so at weekends and holidays). There is also a caravan/camping site which is reasonably priced and who wouldnt enjoy waking up to a view of the Mournes. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a change from busy shops and towns.

There are plenty of trails around to go walking, running, dog-walking, etc. We probably saw at least 10 people with dogs as we were walking around, and, yes, we wanted to play with all of them. The dogs, not the people. The area is obviously very scenic (it's a forest!), but there are also some cool ruins, lots of bridges, sweet stepping stones, and flowing water throughout. We spent more than a few hours here, I think, and enjoyed every bit of it.

I went kayaking with life adventure centre in Castlewelllan a few times. The first time was with a…read moregroup of friends mid july. We were all given a safety talk and life jackets then let loose on Castlewellan lake. We had such good fun paddling up and around the lake. Some of us stopped over on the island to explore. It was a beautiful evening and the surroundings are stunning. I would highly recommend booking kayaks for an adventure on Castlewellan lake. Another time we went kayaking was completely different as the weather was horrible wet and windy. The lake was choppy and difficult to paddle around, so just make sure you get good weather. There are coaching sessions to build confidnce before going out, if necessary. the centre staff are very helpful and friendly and there are changing facilities and other adventures such as coasteering, rock climbing, archery, mountain biking and bouldering. Reasonable prices too. Great place for an adventure!

It's not often that I want to rate a place zero stars, but this was 100% one of those instances…read more My partner, her three children, and I all went to the Four Seasons to grab some food, charge some devices (tablets and phones), and use their internet. This was all following Storm Éowyn. To clarify, my partner's children would all be neurospicy like her and myself (she's Autistic and I've got cPTSD and ADHD). Her eldest son is Autistic and would be slightly more profound than the rest of us. I initially had a poor interaction with a girl in the restaurant. She was incredibly rude for no reason. Following that, I approached the reception to give feedback on their staff and politely complain. Before I could even explain anything, an overbearing voice from beside me started asserting that the hotel staff were all doing their best etc. I explained that none of that was really what was in question. I wanted to tell them that I'd had a very rude experience. This offensive gentleman got right up in my face in an extremely threatening manner. I was extremely surprised to discover the gentleman was nom other than the MD of the hotel. His completely casual attire and overall manner, should have given a clear indicator of the unprofessional approach I would experience. What resulted was an initial exchange between Fank and I, followed by an exchange between Frank and my partner. The contents of which were Frank detailing how Autistic children should be put in care and he would ring Tulsa about her child. When the hotel MD said this we left immediately. Unfortunately, this took us about thirty minutes as my partner's son had an autistic meltdown over the incident.
