I was here about 20 years ago, but on this newest trip to the place, it looks nice, rustic.........sat down at a table (not part of the lounge), we had a almost 2 year old with us and 3 adults and a youth. No one was in our area when we arrived, the waitress was nice and friendly...........she asked for our drinks and gave us time to read the menu, I notice an ant crawling on the table, but it didn't gross me out so much, as we were almost willing to eat outside, but didn't. Not to long after we ordered, another family walked in and sat at a table near us. We noticed a manager looking guy coming out to greet the family, when they came in and they had the same waitress as us, but Mr.manager never came to say Hi to us., I didn't want to think racist...but that man never talked to us, only when it came to give us our food. And when the food (appetizers) came it was alright, until the nachos got to us, we asked for oaxaca cheese nachos but looked like we just got cheddar, (we thought, maybe because we look native...we wouldn't be able to tell the difference or complain (because most native people don't speak up), also they came burnt to hell, my boy said it tasted like eating charcoal but we were too hungry to complain, but I did metion to the waitress, "looks like the wrong cheese", she just told me "they must have used a cheese blend", which would be fine but we ordered the oaxaca cheese nachos and oaxaca cheese is white (maybe I read it wrong.) As we ate the burnt nachos, that had the wrong cheese from what we ordered, our main meals came out. And they looked ok, but as we ate my brother almost choked on some metal scrub ball for washing dishes (small pieces of it), he thought it was his main dish, but then my boy said while eating the nachos he felt something sharp go down his throat, he thought it was a sharp chip, but when he thought back and saw what my brother had found, he thought it was most likely the scrub ball. I'm just thankful that the baby just wanted the plain chips! (don't even want to think about if the baby had gotten the wire scrub and ate it.) After that, I got so freakin grossed out and when the waitress said "are we not getting dessert". Yuck, heck no! Check please!,(is what I thought,) and they are lucky we paid them at ALL! They probably thought we wouldn't notice the difference in the cheese and re-heated an old order, that wasn't sold (that's why it came back almost black and with the wrong cheese) but jokes on them, I'm half mexican, so I know exactly what oaxaca cheese looks like. I'm so disgusted with this place, its only good if your white or drinking booze, this place is crap for food and hospitality. I give every place I go to a fair chance, but that was garbage and I'm never ever going to that place again. It was so crap, this is my first ever post of a review for anyplace. And I've been to crap places but it's like people just don't care about people anymore. Zero stars for kitchen staff and 2 stars for waitress, she didn't even really know the menu and had to keep going to the kitchen to ask questions. Just all around disappointing experience. read more

The food is spectacular and the waitresses are super nice! I tried the "Shrimp Tacos" which comes in 3. The tacos are medium large and filled with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese plus the delicious lightly battered shrimp in their own special sauce. It was heavenly food well worth the 20$ something dollars it cost. It is a bit pricey but so worth it! The atmosphere on the patio was great too. Nice shaded areas with good music flowing out of the speakers. I had a very enjoyable time! read more

+.5 for service Carlos and Murphy's can be what I considered a mix of Mexican, wings, and general pub grub restaurant in the heart of Osborne Village. It has that Mexican theme that's consistent throughout many Mexican restaurants in Winnipeg. I came here late night with some friends, when I actually haven't had dinner yet. Since it was late I decided to have some wings, and went for the Murphy's Wings. They were decent; nothing to write home about, but it hit the spot for late night pub food. The $9.95 price was reasonable for the amount you get (quite a lot). Their happy hour deals are a lot better though. Service was great, aside from the fact a server spilled someone's food by accident. There's a nice patio outside for those who enjoy the outdoors. I would return for a bar night or happy hour, but wouldn't go out of my way to visit here just cause. read more

Hit & miss meal Chips & salsa were poor, I could have picked up better at the supermarket. Beer & cheddar soup was good but would have been excellent with some jalapeños added. Had the chicken enchiladas which were actually very good but again a little spicier would have made them perfect! Maybe if they even offered some spicy sauces to add on the side. Refried beans were awesome! Rice was very good! The salad was basically shredded lettuce, a little vinegarette salad dressing would have popped it! When I mentioned it to the waitress, she said that it was only a garnish yet they spent the time to dice up tomatoes into it?? Beers were ice cold and their bar whiskey was very tasty!! From the horribly spiced main with way too much cumin, to the tragic consistency of the refritos, I kept waiting (hoping) for something to taste better. Okay so let's begin by the walk-in; the door was a little hard to find being the first time there and it was night time but once we were in the environment of the place felt a little on the Mexico side with the decorations and all(loved it) Friendly service and it's fast so theres no waiting time trying to order the food. One of the few Mexican restaurants in Winnipeg. Started off with a Margarita--definitely not a redo. Made with Margarita mix from a powder by the taste (Tang comes to mind). The food on the other hand was very good. Lots of typical Tex Mex choices and very generous portions but come-on you are Tex-Mex how about some taco chips and salsa while we wait for food and drink. Patio if it's nice is definitely better than the dark interior although it does remind of out of the way Cantinas in Tijuana inside. I would go back and order Cerveza for my beverage. read more

Get over it- fellow yelpers. This place is cheap bar food and it's done pretty well. Is it authentic Mexican? Not by a long shot. But it's inexpensive, open late, and they make a mean ceaser. I usually get the mountain of guacamole but there are a few kinds of nachos which are nice too. I'm not a huge fan of the wings over other places but they've added a few flavors so I'll have to try those out. All in all: a cute place, good for groups, and has a patio option. Went here the other day for a quick lunch. Three friends and I split their guacamole dip. Holy cow it was a lot of guacamole! Taste wise, decent. Quantity? TONS! the four of us split the whole thing and still took half home. Granted, I'd eaten soon before. Still, only paid about $2.50 a person! Great nachos and red sangria! One of my fave nacho places in the city, try the Oaxaca flavour its deelish! The salsa could've been more flavourful but can't complain. Patio was nice, except that the patio closest to osbourne has the occasional bum asking for a cigarette or spare change. Myself and 10 other friends and family joined together at Carlos and Murphy's tonight for Cinco de Mayo and to watch the Jets game. Serving staff were extremely unfriendly and confrontational. It was cool on the patio so we decided to go into the restaurant for a drink at the bar where the bartender Don was extremely rude to us because we turned one of the lights that was hanging over our head off as it is very bright. They accused me of making vulgar remarks to the serving staff which was completely untrue. when one of our friends spoke to the The manager she defended these behaviours.. and tried to make us as the customer responsible... they made us feel like we were a complete annoyance being there .spent well over $1000 very unhappy with the service.. thumbs down read more

It was late at night when I looked for open restau's around Osborne and I searched up Mexican because my boyfriend and I love that kind so this showed up. The place looks really nice which gives you a real Mexican restaurant feel and most especially the food is really good. We got the Nachos Oaxaga and Burrito but we didn't finish it because it was a such a huge serving and it's very filling. I would certainly come back here to try their other stuff. read more

This place is good for appetizers and beers, but their Tex-Mex is really bad. I went there for lunch once and ordered some sort of enchilada plate and it was very mushy without a lot of flavour. It's not my favorite restaurant considering I hate Mexican food but I went because everyone else wanted to go. We went for lunch on a Saturday and my waitress so did not want to be there. She only refilled our water when we requested her / shouted for her when she wasn't hiding and my sister-in-law needed a new glass because hers was covered in gross. Thankfully they had a few options for people who don't like Mexican but my burger was mediocre. I ordered a bacon burger and it ended up having "Canadian" bacon on it instead of a piece of yummy salty stripy goodness. There was also no ketchup and by the time we saw her again and called her over my burger was cold. Everyone else at the table got various Mexican dishes and they all really enjoyed their food. I go here pretty often because it's a casual and fine environment to go with friends and I mean, who doesn't love nachos. Their food isn't fantastic but I do enjoy it for the most part when I'm there. Their quesadilla is not good... hands down. I usually love quesadillas so i figured I'd give theirs a shot as something light (since the friend i was with hates nachos with a passion so we couldn't share) it was really bad. The cheese had no flavour it was pretty much just bland uncooked uncrispy tortilla with blah cheese in the centre and that's it. Theirs wings are really though. I'd tried them a couple times and it had taken a while to get used to but now I really like them though the do only have the two flavours. Their nachos and bean dip are great portions, the bean dip is HUGE and for a great price we were completely shocked when it came to the table. It's not great mexican food but it's not bad either you just have to learn what to try and what to avoid. It is affordable and the atmosphere is rustic and fun. I've never written a review because of owning multiple locations of my own concept.....but this was likely my worst experience in a restaurant....multiple issues....but what topped it off was eating what they called Queso......unfortunately there was something foreign in it and it ended up in my mouth.....the cook argued that it was a piece of the onion skin....but I tried to cut it and tear it....not so....the server did a nice job....not her fault. read more
