What am amazing spot! There is a little bit of something for everyone. Situated on a sprawling property that has a winery, brewery, pizza, food truck and lawn games. It was great for us because we had 4 young children in our group and they were able to run around and play games while we waited for our food. The pizza was incredible, and I don't say that much about pizza. I picked my own toppings; spicy sausage, caramelized onions and hot honey, and I loved that combo. Such a nice winery. I love all the little details they have around this place like the corkscrew door handles and the corks in the tables. We stopped by on a Saturday and isn't too packed. Lots of places to sit. We ordered a 4th of July themed drink called Strawberry Sparkler. It was a nice fruity drink. You order with the cashier then they give you a little recipe card that you take to the other end of the bar for some else to make. They have a really nice gift shop to checkout while you wait. This is a really fun place to go if you're in the Alexandria area. Wine is pretty good, and for Minnesota wine, I'd say it's very good! Just know you're not exactly in wine country. Carlos Creek holds a special place in our hearts. We visited back in May over Mother's Day weekend. They had live music inside and open seating outside. We've watched it transform over the years, and we make sure to visit whenever we're in Alexandria. There's something special about sitting in Adirondack chairs around a fire pit with a glass of wine in hand. We've tried several types of wine, and the sangria is a new favorite. For those who prefer beer over wine - there is also a brewery on the property, so everyone can have what they prefer. I had an absolutely wonderful time here! We went in the winter, so most everything outside was closed, but we'll definitely be back in the summer to enjoy everything they have to offer! Even in the winter the grounds were still pretty though! I did a wine tasting of five wines that I got to choose. The team working behind the bar was incredibly fun, knowledgeable, and they were not shy to share their opinions on the wine, which I loved. I really enjoyed all five of the wines I selected and even bought three bottles! I purchased a bottle of the Wobegon White, Hot Dish Red, and Blueberry. Highly recommend all three of those. The winery itself was super spacious and featured an enormous selection of wine. They also had a ton of merch and really cute trinkets/gifts you could purchase. We sat at a table and enjoyed the live music, which really set a relaxing mood for the entire space. It was a touch loud, but not too loud. My only complaint is that the parking lot was relatively far away from the winery itself, but not too far. I could see it being hard for older customers to walk that distance though, especially when it's super icy. read more

Stopped by during vacation at the lake house and I was blown away. My partner and a few friends were the first few people in and the staff were all so kind explaining everything to us. We got 3 flights to try out and we found a number of wine and cider that we enjoyed. The best part was the wood fire pizza that was next door. All of the pizza was spectacular! There's also a brewery another door over but we didn't try that. We then went on a wine tour and that was so much fun to see the vineyard and the space. Bruce, our tour guide was amazing! Great spot to check out if you're in the area or passing through! The wines were great and the outdoor scenery was so pleasant. They also had a brewery on property too, so if you would prefer beer over wine there were plenty of options! The wait staff so friendly, they came around frequently to clear our tables. Absolutely loved my trip to Carlos Creek Winery! Came here in late summer and it was still absolutely gorgeous! The winery is huge and there's plenty of seating and parking. The Saturday afternoon we came it was really packed though so we did have to wait a few minutes for something to open up! There was also live music and a lot to explore. I ordered the MN Nice Wines flight. Their wine flights are a great deal and come with a souvenir glass! It was called MN Nice Wines because it included Minnescato, Wobegon, You Betcha Blush, and Hot Dish Red! I loved the Minnescato so much and liked the bottle design, I decided to grab one on the way out! I've also purchased it at liquor stores since then too! We enjoyed this winery! I have seen the moose labeled wines around the MN wine sections at many liquor stores, but had never tried them. There is really something for everyone here. They even have a brewery next door and a cute gift shop inside. If you check in with Yelp app, you get a free sample of wine. (1 per person). My hubby and I shared a flight and each got an extra free sample each. A flight of 5 samples is $11, but we got 7! Sweet deal. We ended up really liking and ended up purchasing 3 bottles. They have a few wines that are only available at Carlos Creek. Of course our favorite (Frontenac Gris) was one of them! We don't make it up by Alexandria often. We also purchased the white Zinfandel (reminded us of another MN winery favorite that stopped making one like this) and the Ruby Port. (These 2 were also only available at CC). We had some nice conversations with the staff and overall a great time. We will be back to buy more wine one day. Also, what a gorgeous space for a wedding! First time here on June 7. A tasting was $10 and with that comes 5 options along with the stemless glass they serve the wine in. Additionally, a Yelp "check-in" got me one more sample. My husband and I each picked different wines which means I had the opportunity to try 12! I tried wines in all categories: white, rose, red, and finally a port in the dessert wines. I enjoyed all that I tried and bought the White Marquette to enjoy later on our weekend trip. They have a really long bar and I'm guessing this is a phenomenal rental venue for weddings and other events based on the looks of their well kept property. We had multiple people serve us and had very friendly staff who's shared details about each of the wines as we tasted them. We need more wine glasses like we need a hole in the head but love that they are stemless and we now use them at least once a week! read more

First came over a decade ago when I was in the area. Was back here again yesterday for the same reason. Its $10 for a tasting of 5 wines (If you do your Yelp check-in you get a 6th for free). Its a bit spendy, but why not? And you get to keep the glass. They source their grapes from vines onsite but also get a good amount from California. You have all the usual white and reds available, plus a couple of dessert wines. They also do some fruit wines and cider. Of all that I sampled, I actually preferred the sweeter wine to the drier (unusual for me) which to me would make their product a good place to start with people that aren't fans of wine. My personal favorites were the Wobegon White and the Peach Fruit Wine. The property itself is great. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Live music on certain days. Review is for the service only. The food (pizza) and the beer were great! I had not been here in a few years and was really blown away and impressed by all of the additions and improvements that they have made. It was all really amazing. We arrived on a Tuesday evening after the tasting room had closed so we headed into the brewery and pizza area. We placed an order for pizza (which was delicious) and went into the brewery for a few beers while we waited for pizza. Unfortunately we accidentally spilled one of the beers. I went to the bar to get something to wipe up the mess (there were no napkins on the table) and they told me to go to the pizza kitchen for napkins. Mind you, we were in the brewery at the time. So I went to the pizza kitchen and grabbed a bunch of napkins. I tried to wipe down the table - while the FOUR people working at the bar watched me -and headed back to the pizza kitchen for more napkins. I finally gave up on the napkins and entered the pizza kitchen to find a rag (was told I shouldn't be in the kitchen - which FFS I didn't want to be if I could find ANY body to help me). It was all ridiculous. The bar blamed the pizza people and the pizza people told me to get help from the bar (who I think should have been the ones to help us) It was a cluster f*** and although the beer was great and the pizza was exceptional I felt like the service was ridiculous. Not sure I'd go back until they figure out that they need to work together to put the customer experience first. So so disjointed. read more

We went to Carlos Creek this past weekend and had a great experience. The group I was with called ahead and was able to secure a tour of the production area. When we got there, we all decided to do the wine tasting. If you check in on yelp, you get an extra tasting for free (making it six different wines you get to try!). I liked about 80% of the wines I tried, but really enjoyed the You Betcha Blush. The winery is absolutely beautiful with plenty of different places to sit/stand both indoors and outdoors. They have done a wonderful job keeping up with the property and making sure the grounds are kept to a premium. I can't wait to go back and try the new wood fire pizza place and brewery they just added! We were there the day before the GO, and it looked like it was going to be a lot of fun. read more

Bought a bottle of Carlos Creek's "Hot Dish Red" at a liquor store with the intention of sending it to relatives across the country. Found out shipping regulations prohibited that, so went online and subsequently called them for options. SUPER helpful folks, my phone call was passed along to the proper person who answered all my questions. Placed the order via the Carlos Creek Winery website and it was delivered spot-on-time with a very reasonable shipping charge. Haven't visited in person but I will make plans to do so in the very near future. Five stars! (Oh yeah, about the bottle I bought thinking I would send? Drank it myself. We always come here when in town. It has been fun to watch this place grow over the past few years. Their wine selection is vast, and they do it well. Summer is a particularly fun time at the winery, with the outdoor games, live music outside, fun atmosphere, etc. My favorite-- the Trinity. I ordered a case of it last Black Friday. Delicious. Want to know the kind of people running this place? In that case, there was a mixup and some bottles of Merlot were substituted in for a few bottles of the Trinity. I called them and they immediate shipped me new bottles of Trinity, at their cost. They were so accommodating and speedy in their response -- even if it meant a financial loss in the wine and shipping costs. I appreciate that. read more

Carlos Creek is a great MN winery, that should be compared with other MN wineries. The names of the wines, the friendliness of the staff, the price of the tastings (5 for $5) and the yumminess of the food at the new "Minnesota Nice" restaurant inside the tasting room and gift shop exceeded my expectations.
