I found this photographer and asked her a couple of questions about the beaches we would shoot on since I'm not local. She was very unresponsive and seemed to be offended I asked her questions about the seaweed in her beach photos. Again little to no response. After a week I asked "Are we on?". Finally she responded with I should find another photographer since the beach she shoots on is "not what I want". What?....I never said I didn't like the location, I just asked some questions about what beaches she shot at and emailed her that I was fine with whatever was the prettiest beach. Customers aren't allowed to ask questions about shoot location? Her pictures on her website are not even that good to be honest, she's definitely a novice, but I figured for a quick mini shoot it would be okay. But WOW, couple that with terrible customer service and $295 for 20 minutes for mediocre photos?. Buyer beware...

I reached out to several people on Yelp and Shane immediately stood out with his quick responses, professionalism, and beautiful work. He arrived early, came fully prepared, and brought such a calm and positive energy. He even played music to help everyone relax, which helped my daughter come out of her shell. When I mentioned I wanted to take photos on the National Mall, she let me know I needed to apply for and receive a permit from the National Park Service (we called it our donation fee to keep from getting bitter with NPS). It took longer than expected to get from one end of DC to another due to an unexpected road closure (dignitary motorcade), so we were running about an hour late. I was so grateful Erin was willing to wait for our arrival on a day that is best described as "unseasonably cold". Erin kept the initial portion of the photo shoot moving as she knew those under 7 years old and over 70 years old were expiring fast in the cold weather. She even was able to coax a smile out of Alexandra (my niece) who at 7 months old believes in "stranger danger." My favorite part of the photo shoot was the time my husband and I got to spend "just us" with Erin as it felt fun (and we got to kiss a lot). The photos turned out amazingly beautiful and I loved her creative shots! Erin knew just where to take us on an overcast day! Erin even had a blueberry pie on hand for Pi Day.
