I can't say enough on how amazing Carlsbad Physical Therapy. The staff is so wonderful. They are knowledgeable and make you feel really comfortable. They work with you and they ask questions. They don't overwork the injury and if an exercise hurts they will they alter the exercise so you aren't in pain like some other places. I absolutely love them and recommend them. You won't be sorry. Also, they are great about keeping the equipment clean after every use, they wear masks and wash their hands constantly. I feel safe when I go there. read more

I had a frustrating experience with Carlsbad Physical Therapy. The actual physical therapists were fine and I felt the treatment itself was helpful, which is why I am not giving one star. However, the administrative side of this office was extremely disorganized and stressful. The receptionist repeatedly failed to call me back to schedule appointments, which resulted in several weeks going by without being seen. For physical therapy, consistency matters, so this was very disappointing. I also later received a bill for copays that I was never informed about ahead of time. I originally started treatment with an approved number of sessions through my insurance, but once the new year began I was suddenly being charged copays even though my authorized sessions had not expired. No one explained the insurance change or warned me that my costs would change. What upset me most was my interaction with Terri in the billing office. Instead of calmly explaining the situation, she was yelling at me on the phone and demanding payment. It felt extremely unprofessional and unnecessary. Overall, the therapy itself was okay, but the poor communication, scheduling issues, surprise billing, and rude billing office experience made this a place I would not return to. read more

I was disappointed with my experience at this physical therapy office. Instead of working with the licensed physical therapist, I was assigned to a student for my visits -- but was still billed the full rate as if I were receiving care directly from the PT. While I understand that students need hands-on experience, I expected to be informed ahead of time and given the choice. For the cost of care, I feel patients deserve treatment from the licensed professional, not primarily from a trainee. read more

Outstanding! My shoulder hurt for 25 years due to a car accident when I was 20. After one session with Jaqueline it was improved and after 4-5 sessions it was 95% better. I had partially separated my shoulder and from what Jaqueline explained, my body had grown fibers to isolate and immobilize my injured shoulder. Through a series of stretches and mobilization exercises, she freed my shoulder and I can throw overhand again! Absolutely recommend! read more

On my first appointment I arrived 15 minutes early as requested to fill out the paperwork, and then waited 30 minutes past my appointment time to see my PT. They informed me their front desk person called out which is why they were behind schedule. I told them no problem I completely understand, things happen. Fast forward to appointment 2. I called their office to inform them I might be 5-10 minutes late to my appointment because I had to attend an emergency meeting at work. The customer service rep said let me put you on hold and talk to the PT, my response, sure no problem as I'm driving to their office. It's now 1:50pm and I'm 15 minutes away from their office and my appointment is 2pm. She gets back on the phone and tells me, "I spoke to the PT and he said he's not available so you will have to reschedule your appointment, and by the way we're going to charge you a $50 same day cancellation fee." I told her " I'm not cancelling the appointment I'm letting you know I'm running 5-10 minutes behind schedule." She responded, "the PT is not available so we have to charge you the $50 fee." I was shocked, because I didn't charge them for my time when I sat around for 30 minutes on my first appointment, which is well over $50 for 30 minutes. I then asked, "why are you charging me for an appointment I'm not canceling, and secondly why are you charging me $50 when my copay is $20? Her response, " because that's our policy." My response was, " I believe your companies policies are ridiculous, and I'll pay the $50, but cancel my remaining 12 appointments." I want to reiterate, the PT and his assistant were top notch, but I don't recommend going their because their policies and their front desk customer service reps are sub-par. They lost thousands of dollars of business from me, because they wanted to charge me $50 for a same day cancellation, that I didn't cancel. I would have been completely fine if they told me, you're 10 minutes late so we can only spend 50 minutes with you instead of 60 minutes. I highly recommend you don't use this office because their policies are more important than the health of their patients. I've asked my PCP to refer me to another physical therapy company and I hope you do the same. If you look at my Google reviews, this is the first time I've given a bad review, and it's not because the therapist and their assistants weren't good, on the contrary they were amazing. My problem is, they put their policies before their patients, and there's no give. It upsets me that they want to charge me $50 for same day cancellation, when I wasn't cancelling my appointment, I was letting them know I was running 5-10 minutes late, but the PT wasn't available because I was running behind schedule so they deemed I cancelled same day. If the PT had me scheduled for 1hr why not see me for 50 minutes if I was behind schedule. What else was he going to do, he was scheduled to be with me from 2-3pm. Instead they charged me $50 for a same day cancellation, which I didn't cancel, instead of charging me my $20 copay. I would like to say the whole staff is amazing, very welcoming, and friendly. I feel safe and comfortable doing my therapy. The staff is knowledgeable of which exercise you should do. I was referred there in May 2023. I looked up Dr. Matthew B4 going. Most impressive. Locally trained. Native of area. Wisely, medical notes were provided and quickly entered. The facility takes advantage of the prevailing wind coming off the coast. A/C unnecessary. TX began and the regimen began. If you give guidance, you will be listened to. After 6 sessions, less pain and greater strength have followed. It is now September 2023. And TX continues. The rest of the staff perform their art/techniques with style/sensitivity. If your Insurance will pay, never leave. You will do this. read more

Following Bi Lateral full TKR surgery came in for for extensive rehab. Almost finished after 8 weeks of treatment. Primarily looked after by Jaqueline & Ryan, but also Lily stepped in & was great when it got busy. Excellent one to one attention & always happy & fun place to be, important when going through painful rehab. Jackie pushed me way beyond what i could get myself & without that push couldn't have recovered as i have. Ryan always very encouraging & switched up routines to keep you engaged. Didn't matter whom i was with, as the information flow regards progress was excellent so was always seamless whomever i saw. Great all round knowledge from the staff & always good atmosphere to keep you motivated. read more

Carlsbad Physical Therapy is awesome. I suffered an accident back in December of 2019 and thus requiring me to come in for physical therapy for my lower body. As someone who is a first timer to physical therapy, I didn't know exactly what to expect. But after coming in on a regular basis for the past three months, I can proudly say that they have exceeded my expectations. Thanks to them, I have seen an immense improvement on my ankle and knee. I also love how every Physical Therapists take their time not just with me but with each patient. Everybody here is polite and knows exactly what they are doing. It is always a pleasure coming in. Coming from a dance background I am critical of physical therapist. Carlsbad Physical Therapy is in a relatively understated building with excellent therapists. Jacqueline has her doctorate degree in PT and was able to quickly access my problem better than my orthopedic physician . Dr Lane and his people are excellent. Saw the doctor for a bum shoulder. One of the biggest frustrations in any medical office always seems to be getting records and referrals sent to wherever needed. No problems in this office! (an added bonus). After my major right arm humerus fracture and shoulder dislocation in 2 weeks after surgery I started my PT with Yunnuen, my movements were so limited that I truly resisted hard crying during my first PT visit. She was so knowledgeable about my injury that after every therapy I was visibly more flexible, in one month progress was very magical that my surgeon was celebrating. She was also so wonderful to massage the scar carefully so well that my scar healing was also very quick and better. PT is a very important part of healing, I am so thankful for my therapist it has been a great experience and she truly cares about her patients genuinely! read more

I'd originally given these guys five stars and that's what my first experience was... Of course, turns out I was also dealing with the business's owner/director and a staff on their best behavior due to that presence. Having had a great experience, I wanted to make my way back after a flare up and insurance change. It was like they pretty much didn't want my business. There's no reason I should have had to call them, my doctor's office, and my insurance company repeatedly over the course of months in order to get in with assured payment. I did it, though, thinking it was just the administrative staff... I'd had good luck with their PTs, right? That's what matters, right? So I go back in for the first time in awhile and the entire experience was a cross between meh and This-really-hurts. It wasn't just "uncomfortable" and I wasn't whining. I tried to tell them this repeatedly. I continued with the exercise and sure enough, the next few days were awful and it has been worse ever since. I'm headed back to the doctor and I'm not happy. I had to relearn how to walk after years in a wheelchair, ok? I've had plenty of PT and I'm good with "it's work", "you might have some soreness", "it'll feel awkward", and other pt concepts. To have found myself ouched wouldn't even be bugging me if at any point I thought they'd cared! To have been ouched by the pts after having had to spoon feed the administrative end??? I'm starting pt elsewhere. Closer to my house and I didn't get a run around about insurance and referrals and all. A business that wants my business seems like a good start. read more

I am so happy I found this place! The therapists and support staff are attentive and compassionate, and the atmosphere is professional but lighthearted. Bill is a stellar physical therapist and a kind person, and I am grateful to be working with him; I'm grateful to be working with everyone here. The all consuming pain that led me to them has improved dramatically, and having been to other PT establishments in the past, I can say (from experience) that not all physical therapists or therapies are effective. If you too have had a negative experience elsewhere, or if this is your first time seeking PT, I highly recommend you give Carlsbad Physical Therapy a shot. I have had several surgeries over the years and have required physical therapy many times, happily with all good results and good experiences. BUT, Carlsbad Physical Therapy and Calvin Jung, DPT, is a cut above the BEST. His knowledge and skills are extraordinary, in addition to his interpersonal skills. Each session I have had with him, combined with his recommendations for home exercises, continue to advance my healing ahead of what I could have hoped for. I went here one time about 18 months ago for the final appointment of the day. The 'front office people' decided to go home early, so the person helping me said she didn't know how to ring up with credit card. I happened to have $20 cash, so she took it and said it would get taken care of in the morning. About a year later, I got a bill for $20. I've explained it to them multiple times the situation and they don't care, in fact, they said it was my fault for not getting a receipt. Either $20 was stolen from me or their bookkeeping is crap, either way I got screwed. After arguing for about 6 months, I just gave them $20 since they sent me notice that they would be sending to collections. read more

LESS than 1 * if possible. In 2012 I visited Carlsbad Physical therapy for right knee pain from running at the referral of my PPO doctor. Service/therapy was OK though I was attended to by a temp employee who gave me exercises to do and would just check in periodically to give me more. After a two weeks of this (5 visits) I decided I could do the exercises at home & save myself the drive. I paid my copay each visit and insurance was billed and paid by Blue Shield. 18 months later I began receiving an invoice from their office for over $500 with a letter that stated "it has come to our attention our previous billing company did not send you a patient statement." Excuse me?! I called and received no help from Will Taylor (job title: "Collector") of Carlsbad Physical Therapy. I have since written two letters disputing their claim and all I receive are Statements for the disputed charge. In addition, they list my provider of services as William Adkins. I have never been to Carlsbad Physical Therapy but only to one of their other offices all under the same umbrellas and I assume managed by the same rude Office Manager. I'll be surprised if David Boutelle, the Founder responds to this post. My son was in physical therapy at MV Physical Therapy but needed to obtain another authorization from his doctor. When it was finally obtained we called MVPT to set appointments and the phone rang with no voice mail or answer, numerous times! I finally drove to the facility to find it was closed and totally empty. I have since sent letters and made phone calls to David but he is apparently more protected than the Queen. The business office (Ingrid) is extremely rude and unwilling to even talk to me directly and has her employee call me to relay lame messages and directly tell me that you may not talk to David. I work for a professional, customer service driven organization, and if I ever dreamed of treating customers like I have been treated, we wouldn't have any customers and be out of business in a week....oh wait, Mission Valley Physical Therapy is OUT OF BUSINESS.
