    In January 2023 I purchased a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek for my daughter to use in Philadelphia at college. After a month the car started not starting and or shut off after sputtering. We had it towed on 4 occasions to 2 different garages. The starter was replaced but it still had issues. Finally we had to get Subaru cooperate involved and a master technician with a Subaru dealership. Turns out the previous owner had a remote start, antitheft device installed and removed by, we can only assume CarMax, before they sold it to us. The wiring harness was spliced several times incorrectly resulting in it needing to be completely replaced. I would steer clear of this CarMax, or any CarMax if this is how they conduct business. If I could start a legal case against them I would because our repairs will cost over $3k for an entire wiring harness and labor.

I am of the school of thought that if you pay a premium to bring your car to a dealership, you should be getting top-notch service and a great experience. Landers McLarty's is a perfect example of how it SHOULD be done. It was a relief to me to receive such an excellent experience and customer service when I had my car worked on here. My service rep John was friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable. He and his team pinpointed the problems right away and gave me a price range of repair options available to me. They found trouble spots that another shop had completely overlooked (just that same week!). Nissan was thorough, unlike the other shop who charged me $1k for a problem that didn't even get resolved. Had I gone to Nissan first, it would have been done once and it would have been done thoroughly and correctly. I appreciate that kind of integrity and craftsmanship. My 15 yr old car now drives like it's almost new again. They even provided me a complimentary Lyft ride home while my car was being worked on. John provided timely updates, and provided cost estimates for each of the repairs before performing them. There are some repairs I chose to do elsewhere, where it was more cost-effective for me, and John did not try to upsell me or convince to do me otherwise. People complain that dealerships cost more for service. That depends, how many times do you want to have your "repair" fixed? What is that time and inconvenience worth to you? Are repairs expensive? Yes. It's like going to the doctor for your car. If you want a healthy car, it costs money, that's a fact of life. The important thing is that you get what you pay for. At Landers McLarty, the value of my repair experience is something that will continue to bring me back. The cost was reasonable and the experience was great. Thank you!

Few months ago Trans went out, so they put a used LKQ junkyard transmission in it. Son went off but they said warranty states they can. They had it over a month... He picks it back up. Trans was making issue, alignment was way off, front bumper is messed up. Now they got car back and saying only issues they will fix is alignment and the Transmission. They put him in an uncomfortable rental car, refused to even let him pay the difference to a better car. He said Guy named Sammy wasn't very helpful made this whole experience a bad one. I was there for part of these issues and I personally would never buy a car from them of any other of their dealerships! So wonder they got like 2 out of 5 stars....

The trailer that had the restrooms had frozen water lines as well. It was sooo cold as I waited along with several others. One of the employees came in the trailer with a new space heater and promptly went to his office and shut the door. Two hours passed and I finally attempted to reach someone in the service department. I got a text back saying my vehicle was next. At no time did any employee ever come by to check in or give any information. At approximately 11:20 I got a message that my SUV was ready, 3 hours after my appointment. I went into another trailer to settle up and saw a sign that stated there is a 5.00 document fee??!!! Document fee for an oil change??!! The person who collected my payment had her back to me the whole time. I paid the document fee and proceeded to collect my SUV. At no time did anyone ever apologize or explain what took so long. I work night shift so I sacrificed time and sleep. I would have gladly paid somewhere to have avoided this complete disaster! I will never ever return to this dealer for any reason!!

Timeline of Failed Contact Attempts: August 2025: Immediately after purchase, I requested my warranty information from my salesperson via email. No response received. September 2025 (approximate): After weeks of waiting, I called the finance department and left a detailed voicemail including my name, contact information, and specific request. No callback, text, or email response. December 29, 2025: I called again and asked to speak with a finance manager. I was sent to voicemail where I left complete information. No follow-up of any kind. December 30, 2025: I made six separate attempts to reach someone at the dealership: First call: Directed to finance manager's voicemail--mailbox was full, could not leave message Second call: Requested the general manager--sent to voicemail that was full and would not accept messages Third through sixth calls: Immediately redirected to the same full voicemail each time The Issue: I have spent four months attempting to obtain basic warranty documentation through every reasonable channel. The dealership's communication systems are either non-functional or deliberately ignored. Full voicemail boxes indicate a systemic failure to monitor or respond to customer concerns. Warning to Prospective Buyers: Do not assume post-purchase support will be available at this dealership. If you cannot reach management when problems arise, you will have no recourse. Nick, our service manager, called and let us know my car was serviced and ready to be picked up. He said the time would be between 2.5 to 3 hours. It took a little over 2 hours. We drove to Lexus to pick up my car. Before we did, we stopped by to see Jeb, our salesman. He is always available to answer any questions and to show us old folks how stuff works. I knew the car seats have massage functions but I didn't realize I have a massage system as good as or better than any high end massage chair. I am glad we stopped by to see Jeb! If you are looking to buy a Lexus, Jeb is a great salesman. He is not pushy and has been truthful to us. Truthful means a lot! The service at Lexus is the best in town. We have owned a Camry and currently own a Ridgeline. Honda is just a notch below Lexus. Both dealerships wash the cars. Lexus vacuumed and cleaned the inside of the windows too. His customer service skills stink to say the least and made me feel unappreciated and unvalued as a customer. He was texting me back answers nearly immediately. Speaking to him Saturday evening, I knew I wanted to be at the dealership first thing Monday to buy that car. I wanted a Honda Fit, and that was an excellent Honda Fit where every question I had, he either knew or found quickly. I show up Monday, he was again kind, professional, and friendly. I had some service related questions he gave me time to talk to them, never felt rushed. That Monday we got everything we could do finished. There was some things I needed to sort out on my end that took until the next Saturday morning to trade in my car and buy a new one. Saturday I show up with my cheque book ready to pay. He was ready to help with a smile. He helped me move my possessions to the new car, double checked to make sure I didn't forget anything, and answered a few last minute questions (setting up CarPlay, some of the settings on the dashboard, and ensuring I was able to transfer my satellite radio subscription to my car, I knew I could but was unsure about the process). They even detailed it for free, it was already pretty clean to start with. However, free is a good price, to be honest their complementary detailing was better than detailing services that I've paid hundreds of dollars for. My previous car buying experience in 2017 in Virginia (different dealership chain and different brand) I GOT RIPPED OFF HARD. So I bought my father who has lots of experience with buying new and used cars. My father was with me the whole process and told me, I got a good deal on a good car. I trust him more than anyone, so I drove off the lot Saturday happy and confident. Also Steve the financial guy who did the paperwork was a top notch professional. Finance is where I was ripped off last time, he was patient with me as I read everything. He did offer an extended warranty however when I said no all he said was "okay, sign here saying you are declining coverage." Zero pressure. Also he answered all the questions I had about making sure I get my car registered and titled properly as Alabama does things differently than Ohio or Virginia. Basically, he helped answer questions that weren't even his job. He just answered them out of kindness.
